Shameful, Deceptive, and Aggressive: My Experience with Integrated Neurology Services. On July 7, I called Integrated Neurology Services to schedule an EMG. I spoke with Ms. Hasiet Domenico, who ran my insurance eligibility and clearly told me they were in-network. I trusted her word and moved forward with the appointment. Two months later, I was blindsided with over $1,500 invoice claiming they are not in-network. When I called the billing department, Ms. Saroa told me, in the most dismissive tone, that "scheduling staff have no clue or knowledge about insurance" and that the information I was given was "inaccurate." She gave me an ultimatum: pay the full amount immediately or she would send my account to collections. No apology. No attempt to fix their error. Just threats. I decided to double-check with the scheduling department. The representative confirmed that they do check insurance before scheduling and inform patients if they're out-of-network. After further digging, I learned the truth: Ms. Domenico ran my eligibility, got an error, informed the billing department, and both decided my insurance would not be accepted. But instead of telling me, they kept it a secret and went ahead with the appointment anyway, knowing full well I would later be hit with the bill. This wasn't a simple oversight. It was a deliberate act to lure in a patient under false pretenses and then pressure them into paying a massive bill. Ms. Hasiet Domenico and Ms. Saroa both played a role in this deception, and Integrated Neurology Services clearly tolerates these unethical tactics. If you value honesty, transparency, and basic respect, steer clear of this place. They are not just unprofessional but they are calculated, aggressive, and willing to trap patients for profit. read more

Convenient locations with knowledgeable staff / technicians / doctors. I was able to review and get tests without too much of a wait. I do like there is online check in which means I didn't do any paperwork in person. I had a brain mri reviewed, emg testing, and will be doing a sleep study. read more

The doctors are just fine. But they're billing department is really messed up. They are charging me for a service that I did not even receive and they will not take it off my bill. Experience a with initial visit NP was excellent! She was wonderful , listened well, and not rushing in any way. I saw her about 40 min vs doctor for 2 minutes. Plan is lab, PET, MRI and sleep study. I think it sounds appropriate & a good baseline investigation / screenings. Satisfied with office- I was able to reach & speak to a person who was pleasant. Too soon to recommend this soon but a good starting point. read more

I will start off by saying that I am so saddened by the actions of the staff at the Old Town Alexandria location. I am a retired veteran cameral complexion Hispanic "US Citizen" in case someone cares to know. I am suffering from a TBI with constant headaches. Integrated Neurology was supposed to be my second opinion before having any type of procedure. I went to my first appointment which I waited almost a full month for. I arrived on time at 1pm as scheduled. Was received by the receptionist who was not very welcoming. I should have turned around and walked out and listened to my gut. The energy was so negative as soon as I walked thru the door. I proceeded to stay given the fact that I have to take care of these headaches. I told her I had an appointment, and she asked for insurance and ID. I gave her my military retired ID. She looked in the referral system and noticed that my neurology referral was active but was made out to another Dr. She refused to give me the new patient forms because the referral was not made out to them. I apologized for the referral told her I had a lot going on and my memory has been very poor lately. I said that Tricare could change it on the spot, so I called Tricare in front of her, the referral was updated immediately. I finally got the patient forms like 30 mins later. They refused to see me. She had a conversation with the doctors and neither the Doctor or the NP wanted to see me. I approached the desk the first time after 45 minutes of sitting there. She said that she had to talk to the doctor again. Needless to say that after I sat there for an hour and 25 minutes while patients came in and out of the office in front of my face I finally had enough. I approached the desk again in a calm voice with no profanity what so ever and told her that what her and her staff did was not okay and if they didn't want to see me it would have been great to tell me that an hour and 25 minutes ago. I told her that I would let my insurance company know not to send any more service members and their dependents there if that is how you guys are treating them. Old Town Alexandria is supposed to be an upscale location. Just didn't know I was going to be discriminated against at a Doctor's appt. I didn't serve my country to be treated in this manner after retirement. Still have the headaches but, will do my due diligence next time and check reviews. Hopefully I can find a doctor that is all about providing quality patient care regardless of your skin complexion and ethnicity. Avoid this place if you can!!! read more

Beware -- insurance fraud. This company is trying to extort me for additional money after 15 months of account closure, claiming my insurance did not cover an expense (because they delayed reporting it correctly and timely). They are resorting to threatening me over email and phone. read more

I called after an MRI to see if I needed to come into the office for my results as I preferred to get results over the phone if everything was OK. I was asked to come into the office anyway. I went and waited 45 minutes and they had not even looked at the results. There was no issue found in the MRI and they added absolutely no value other than wasting my time and collecting payment for the visit. Other offices would never do this unless there was some sort of advice or follow up necessary. They are just there to collect your money. Go somewhere else. read more

Avoid at any and all cost. These people aren't competent enough to boil water, never mind provide healthcare. I waited nearly 45 minutes past my appointment time just to be told I was referred to the wrong person, who then was too incompetent to open the disc of my MRI results. Congratulations on getting my copay and then doing absolutely nothing to earn it. Disgusted. read more

Stay the heck away from this place. From medical note errors to billing errors, when I tried to get the errors in my records corrected, the two providers at this clinic blew it off. Even worse, they disregarded a post procedural complication I was having. I had to go to a different clinic where these complications were actually taken seriously, finally addressed, and where I was treated with the respect I should have gotten here. The egos of the providers at this clinic get in the way of them doing right by their patients and providing actual care. read more

Horrible overall experience. They have no problem hounding you for money before sharing test results. No problem telling you insurance is covering everything before you engage and then do the tests and say you owe a sizeable amount. I would suggest you all have better choices out there than this place. read more

I had a 2 pm appointment to have a growth on my spinal cord monitored and to ask about occasional headaches. By 3 pm I was still waiting to see Dr. Fishman. When I walked out they ran to the back and got him. He asked me two quick questions and wrote a prescription, which wasn't why I was there. He never examined me or took any images. We have been to many neurologists and the PA and doctors here are simply wonderful. They take time to answer all our questions, explain things thoroughly, and make sure we are comfortable with the treatment plan. Our experience here has been great every step of the way. read more

Integrated Neurology have awesome staffs. Once you check in at the front desk and pay any co-pay that you may have, you really don't wait at all to be called. Like today, I checked in and was in the middle of updating some paper work and they called my name. Took my paper work with me to update as they took my blood pressure. All good here. :) I usually visit with Courtney but last two visits were with Leslie, she really does know her stuff. Any questions to migraine and medicines she knows it all and I always get a straight answer. If you have sleep insomnia or migraine and need a good neurologist, check Integrated Neurology Services. Beware of "Regina" She bites... I have been going to INS off and on for several years for my sleep disorders. Each time I went I saw a different doctor, technician, sleep study nurse, etc. Never seeing the same person twice. As someone who has experience in the medical field, I found their facilities to be clean and welcoming. The Falls Church location is a bit cramped and small. I don't feel like my questions were fully addressed and I was often rushed to be in and out with my appointments. The wait time is average but longer than my other doctors. I don't have any pleasant memories of any of my visits except for the sleep study. The sleep study nurse/technician was lovely, kind, and very helpful. The staff here tends to be curt and to the point, no T.V. style "Grey's Anatomy" bedside manner here. I will finally never return for my sleep and neurology needs and here is why. There is a receptionist by the name of Regina who, when we spoke, was lacking in customer service, patience, and overall kindness. While trying to make an appointment I gave her all the information on why I was scheduling an appointment. She cut me off continuously throughout this conversation. What I was trying to explain to Regina was that I have CPAP equipment that no longer works. I wanted to schedule an appointment to get new equipment as it will be covered under my insurance, instead of me purchasing it out of pocket. She stated that because of the amount of time that had lapsed between my last appointment I would be a new patient. I asked her if I needed to have a new sleep study done since I would be a new patient. She stated that she didn't know this information and that I would have to have a consultation first. I asked the question to clarify because I didn't want to make an appointment if I would need a new sleep study done until I was able to schedule all of those things at once. As an educator, I have classes I teach and I don't like to miss or cancel my classes. I assume this series of questions to get more information gave her the impression that I was getting information that I didn't like to hear, which was false. I'm just very thorough when I communicate especially if I am paying for a service. In short, I didn't want to come to a consultation for a sleep study I couldn't have for the next three months just to be told I need to have a new consultation closer to the date of my sleep study. Mind you, I never got that question answered because Regina wouldn't listen long enough for me to get that question out. She was very curt, rude, even disrespectful one could say while speaking to me. I told her I would call back to schedule my appointment once I have my medical insurance information in front of me. While getting my insurance information I decided to look into reviews on Yelp. Given the rudeness of Regina, I figured maybe somethings have changed since the last time I've been there. I saw a great review for Dr. Kayloe, so when I called back I requested that doctor for my appointment. I was told by Melissa that they would have to call me back to schedule my appointment. Guess who called me back?... Regina. Regina said to me "like I said if you speak to anyone else they're not going to tell you anything different. You're supposed to be calling back with your insurance information to schedule an appointment. Would you like to schedule the appointment? And you won't be seeing Dr. Kayloe because all she's going to do is refer you to a sleep specialist because that is not her specialty." I addressed Regina to let her know how rude she was being. That didn't stop her behavior. I scheduled my appointment got off the phone IMMEDIATELY found a new doctor called back and had my appointment canceled and my medical chart sent to my new doctor. Regina in the future I hope that whatever causes you to be so rude to patients over the phone, is something that is alleviated from your life. As an African-American woman, I find it disappointing that you are perpetuating the "sapphire" stereotype that we as black women are rude, uncourteous, and "angry." Dr Fishman and his staff have been extraordinary since I met them in late August this year. The medical care is state-of-the-art, as is the quality and rapidity of diagnosis, treatment and monitoring. They are careful to communicate appropriately, and are incredibly responsive. The facilities are also excellent, and very accessible. Desk staff are unfailingly helpful , courteous and efficient, as are the staff handling infusions. I recommend this practice very highly indeed, and am very grateful to be under their care in a difficult situation. read more

I have never written a yelp review before, but I felt it was necessary to do so given how poorly I was treated by Dr. Fishman. I saw him about a year ago for a debilitating headache. He wrote me off as just having a migraine, but after talking with other doctors, I learned that I had the classic case of CSF leaks, which should have been very evident for any medical professional with a background in neurology. I needed four procedures on my back in order to be cured, so needless to say, the migraine meds that Dr. Fishman tried to prescribe me never would have worked. Not only did Dr. Fishman misdiagnose me, he had the worst bedside manners of any doctor I have seen in my entire life. Since I could barely think straight from my headache, my mom wrote down some questions for me to ask. On my second question, Dr. Fishman very condescendingly said, "and where did your mom get her medical degree?" I was appalled that he wouldn't even let me ask two questions. The DC area has plenty of other neurologists that will treat you like a decent human being (and may even diagnose you correctly!). Do yourself a favor and avoid Dr. Fishman at all costs. read more

I brought a client of mine to Dr. Fishman's office many times. He was always professional and took time to ask questions and we were never rushed. I felt he had a lot of compassion for my client and he always took time to answer any questions I had. I would recommend Dr. Fishman to anyone who has a neurological problem. read more

Dismissive, condescending, contradictory Dr. Maru, thanks for showing your true demeanor during our second visit.

I am a 4th year medical student who had the privilege of working with Dr. Fishman for my neurology rotation. I have nothing but amazing things to say about him and his office!! Dr. Fishman is incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate. He was fantastic with patients and an amazing teacher and mentor. Unlike so many other neurologists in the northern virginia area, he cares about his patients, and shows them utmost respect! I've had one appointment with Dr. Fulton. She was on time, efficient, informative, and a good listener. The staff was efficient and helpful. The location is easy to get to for me (from West End Alexandria) and parking was a breeze. So far, all good. read more

Dr Fishman is best of the best of local neurologists!!!! Truly cares about his patients and treats you as a "whole" person!!!! Highly recommend!!! Don't go to him if you're just looking for prescriptions....his goal is to cure you or treat you with minimum chemical side effects like a true physician should!!!! read more

Two incidents: 1. Billing for sleep study (Lorton location) was reflected in the bill as office visit and for a different date. Billing information should reflect the correct information of what the bill is for. 2. I cancelled an appointment originally scheduled for Nov 6, 2019 @ 10:00 AM on Nov 5, 2019 @ 8:30 AM (less than 48 hours but more than 24 hours before the appointment). The lady I talked to (which I forgot to get the name) explained to me the charges for cancellations...$50.00 if less than 24 hrs before appointment and $25.00 if more than 24 hrs. My cancellation request was more than 24 hrs but I still received the bill for $50.00. I called ton clarify and the person I talked to regarding the billing told me that if I don't have the name of the person I talked to when I cancelled the appointment, the charge is $50.00 as a "no show". Ridiculous! The date/time of cancellation call should be recorded on their end. Billing personnel need more training for them to provide better customer support. read more

Integrated Neurology Services has a professional and friendly staff that is responsive to patients' needs. Dr. Maru in particular has been extremely helpful in working with me to diagnose, and effectively treat my obstructive sleep apnea. The sleep technicians with whom I have worked, have all been personable and knowledgeable. Mike, in particular, provided lessons on mask selection, care and maintenance--and after the study, he took the time to walk me through the findings in a thorough manner so that I could better understand my results. Dr Maru and his PA David have improved my life tremendously! I am sleeping through the night for the the first time in 20 years. After getting a sleep study elsewhere (American sleep medicine) who clearly only wanted to sell me a CPAP machine and would not discuss other sleep issues, I took that sleep study to Dr Maru. Dr Maru literally looked at the study and said "You are kicking 90 times as hour, your biggest problem is you have Restless Leg Syndrome". He said I had a trifecta of sleep apnea, insomnia, and restless leg syndrome. He sent me to sleep therapist for 2 months, a dentist who created sleep apnea devices and of course the Restless Leg Syndrome medicine which was the biggest helper. If I had simply relied on the awful American sleep medicine, I would have wasted money on a CPAP machine and not addressed the biggest problem. I would say the one thing I did not like is that Dr Maru seemingly transferred me to the PA who is great. But it was done on the sly and I even brought it up to Dr Maru who only said "someone moved your appt to David" I really like David (the PA) but I prefer everything to be addressed up front. read more

Dr. Maru was not interested in treating me once he realized I did not have a sleep disorder, like he originally thought. He instead brushed off my nerve and migraine issues as "being depressed." I was originally recommended to him for my migraine and nerve issues, but it was clear after my second appointment that he is more interested in treating patients with sleep disorders. I never went to him about sleep disorders, but he turned the first visit into diagnosing disorders and ordering a sleep study. When my MRI results came back regular (no pinched nerves in neck or back) he said nothing was wrong with me and I was just depressed. His tone and demeanor was insulting and I expected better treatment from him. I am in no way depressed and he was out of line with the way he treated me. read more

I was referred to see a neurologist due to Bell's palsy, nerve pain, neurological symptoms, and several other various, painful symptoms. I went to this office and was seen by Dr. Fishman. This was the worst, most upsetting, unprofessional, inappropriate, dismissive doctor I have ever met in my life. Within the first five minutes of meeting this man, he asked my father to leave the room, then completely dismissed my symptoms, logical explanations, and results and told me it was "in my head," said I was depressed, and asked me if I have been sexually abused. I was beyond offended and shocked. Against my own conscious, I went back to get an EMG just to see what would be the outcome. Dr. Fishman took forever to come in the room, did not explain the procedure to me, had horrible bedside manner, and was patronizing me for my pain sensitivity. The procedure was so horribly painful I could not even finish the test. He did not care whatsoever that I was in screaming pain and crying uncontrollably and I told him this was not normal and I cannot go through with this. He did not say anything and just left the room, leaving me there confused, upset, and in excruciating pain. I heard him in the hall, the microwave being used, and again he took an unnecessary amount of time before coming back in the room. He barely made eye contact, had a rude tone, and then I told him I could not finish the test due to the pain. All he said was fine and it didn't matter because the results were normal and nothing is wrong with me. He just tried to give me a high dosage of an anti-depressant after I told him I was not depressed, I am highly functioning, work full-time and attend graduate school full-time, and do not want or need anti-depressants. Again, I was dismissed and told me to just make a follow-up but I never did. A month later, I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme's disease, fibromyalgia, and spondylitis (spinal arthritis). I am still being treated for my pain and ongoing symptoms by a GOOD, caring doctor. DO NOT go to this man ever! Worst medical encounter and experience in my entire life. So unprofessional and I honestly do not know how he is still in practice. Not only a horrible doctor but a cruel, rude, apathetic, and pretentious person. read more
