However, the basement was not finished, but had rough-in plumbing installed. We were looking for someone to finish the basement (4 rooms total), including adding an additional bedroom with closet and full bathroom. This included all electrical, plumbing, framing, drywall, door installation, flooring, trim, and painting. Mike was quick to respond to my original inquiry, come check out the space, and provide a quote. He was timely, friendly, and easy to collaborate with. We changed our mind a few times on final design - we appreciate how patient he was with us while we narrowed in on the final plan. The final quote was very detailed and he provided helpful information on the areas for potential cost increase (given that the home is old and there could have been unexpected things identified after work begun). This helped us set our expectations for the project. During the project, he kept us up to date on progress or concerns and kept the area very clean (ensuring very little debris made its way outside the basement into our home). He managed all of the subcontractors (electric, plumbing, carpet, etc) so we didn't need to worry about a thing. Made it super easy by having one point of contact! His work speaks for itself. There were a lot of difficult aspects of the basement to figure out (i.e. uneven walls and ceilings, tricky vents or pipes along the ceiling, water/electrical shutoffs needing to be accessible, etc), but he managed to turn the space into exactly what we were looking for. The attention to detail makes all the difference! In the end, the project took about two months (including carpet installation) and final cost was in line with the estimate. He was professional, gave me options, and accommodated a change I wanted before the project started. I was impressed with him! Unfortunately, that's where things went down hill. Alec was responsive via text, but he sent two guys to my house that did not speak English, making it impossible to communicate, parked on the edge of my lawn, tearing it up, did a shoddy job installing the pillars, and did not respect my property. They didn't use ladders or their own things to prop up my roof while they replaced the columns. Instead, they used cinder blocks they found somewhere to stand on and used some old warped boards that I stack firewood on to prop up my roof instead! The wood was not meant for that! We're lucky they did not collapse. Worse, they cut one of them without my permission, and I still don't know where one of the 2x4s is. As for the work itself, the columns they put up were not straight, one was not plumb at all, and there was no consideration for which direction the knots in the wood faced. I know the work was not finished, but they would have left them that way had I not said anything to Alec. The only reason I'm not giving 1 star is because Alec sent someone to fix the problems the next day before they trimmed them. I'm happy that many of the mistakes were corrected, and I have something solid in place that I can work with later, but I am disappointed with the overall quality and the lack of professionalism shown to my property. I could have done this level of work. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend them. Edit: Alec reached out and offered me a partial refund. I accepted, but he didn't send it. Haven't heard from him since.

BEWARE!!! Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. I would give zero…read morestars if I could. Jason Moore is not licensed and insured as he claims to be. When I called to verify his insurance, it had expired a long time ago. Unfortunately, I did not verify his insurance until after the damage was done. After consistently missing his agreed deadlines and not making progress on the job (painting, LVP install, skim coat ceilings), I had to fire him. The work he did manage to do was horrid and had to be redone. I'm at a loss of about $15K due to the down payment I gave him, the unplanned hotel stays, the cost of the removal of his poor work, and the cost to clean up the mess he left. Not only did he leave my home a complete disaster, he felt it was necessary to steal from my home and vandalize my property. He also made a copy of my home key. I gave him a bronze key; however, the key he returned was silver and was able to open my door. Sadly, I am not the only person he had done this to. He has a number of small claims against him that the court has ordered him to pay. He has paid none of them over the years. He also has a recent criminal history as well.
