The price was competitive and due to how detail-oriented and communicative the estimator was, we decided to proceed with Insulwise. A three person crew arrived at our house at 9:30 AM. They worked efficiently and removed our whole house fan, installed a platform for storage, thoroughly covered up open areas in our attic, before blowing in insulation throughout the space. The team leader was very communicative and helpful in explaining their process, and I barely noticed their presence as I was working on the floor below them. They ran a test on the air leakage of the home before and after the installation and I was very impressed with the results. They did a good job cleaning up after and they were done by 3:00 PM. I highly recommend Insulwise for anyone looking to lower their AC and Heating bills.

We have yet to see any energy savings, as promised on their website. Taking weather changes into account which was about 25% colder so far, we also used about 25% more gas to heat the home at the same settings. On the plus side, the room above the garage and second floor bedroom below the attic are more comfortable and less drafty, so we 'll keep tabs and hopefully we'll see better results in the summer with a/c usage.

That being said, I was positively giddy after standing in the bedroom that the guys from Steel City sprayed for me. An unbelievable difference. The room was always cold, and it's not like it wasn't insulated. A previous owner had put 10 inches of blown in fiberglass in the ceiling and 4 inches in the walls. During my renovation I took it all out and was nervous that I was just throwing money away by replacing insulation with new insulation. It will now be the way I do it from now on. Steel City sprayed 8 inches of foam on my ceiling and 4 inches in my walls. The foam was the open cell variety. I was again worried because I had heard the closed cell was better. But, it was more expensive, and money was tight. No regrets. The day after the work I stood in a room that, despite having no heat and being closed off from the rest of the house (dust barrier), was just as warm and cozy as the rooms where the heat was on. It was completely different from the room that became blisteringly hot when the sun came out and frigidly cold when it set. In the interest of full disclosure Jon, the owner-operator of the company asked me to write this review. I'm doing it because in addition to being impressed with the change it has made to my new bedroom, Jon and his crew couldn't have been more nice and just plain fun to be around. Just straight up professionals who knew how to make the most of their day. I'm no expert on all the different foam they can spray, I can only speak for the open cell, but it certainly is worth going this route vs. the other options for insulation.

John also has donated work for a local family in need, it was a blessing the family very much needed and appreciated, the difference the spray foam made in comfort and cost of utilities was awesome. Bill and crew did a great job repairing the damage so that the new countertop was able to be installed on time. High quality work completed by a total professional. Highly recommend Bill and his company for any plastering/drywall repair you may need. (next review done by my wife) ...A second time during our kitchen remodel we needed Bill and his crew to repair the ceiling due to lighting upgrades. We have the utmost respect for Bill's skilled craftsmanship. Not only did he repair the ceiling, but was able to masterly replicate the slight texture ceiling pattern blending it in with the original. Our daughter visited and was very impressed with the seamless match. Not only was Bill meticulous in his workmanship, but he and his team applied the same care when working in our home. They placed drop-cloths from the front door all the way into the kitchen, covered the island and used their portable shop-vac to tidy up afterward. We feel extremely lucky to have found such a skilled company!

Everyone we had contact with from the first meeting at a home show to the finished product was very professional. They arrived on time, explained every step of the process and did a bang up job of cleaning up when the work was completed each day. Thanks for a job well done everyone at the Merola Company.

EDIT: The company sent supervisors out to examine the damage, and those fellas were really…read moreprofessional. They re-mudded the damaged plaster and attempted to fix the scratched floor. Very pleased with the follow-up. Moves my 1-star review to a 4-star review. I have a mixed review. Mincin insulated my home as part of a Columbia Gas program for reducing energy use in old homes. First, Jimmy Bickerton and his crew were fantastic. They were polite, informative, and most importantly, hard-working. That is the heart of this review: Jimmy's crew went out of their way to blow in the insulation from the outside so as to leave undisturbed the old plaster and finished walls of the interior. This meant moving ladders constantly, working in the drizzling rain, etc. Only once were they forced inside, and that was because the space between the outside wall and the interior wall was unusually thin--forcing them to put bullet-size holes inside for foam. The other crew did more damage in a single day than Jimmy did all week, or conceivably could do in a year. They persuaded my wife and me that it would be best for them to blow-in from the inside, and it was not clear to us what that meant: softball-size holes every 8 inches in our finished interior, *including* through the wood paneling. The USG patch jobs are amateurish *at best.* It will take me a month of Saturdays just to get the walls paintable, but nonetheless, there will be no matching the existing textured plaster. To top it all off, somebody moved a bed across a brand new maple floor and left a gouge I could flood and float a boat in. Absolutely no excuse for this kind of careless work. I, of course, have no recourse, so I am warning the public: If you use Mincin, request Jimmy Bickerton, and make the other lazy crews that come get a ladder off the truck. To be clear, as was confirmed by other crews, the crew that went inside did so because it was convenient for them, not because it was necessary.

Then they worked to get me on the schedule, especially touching winter, as they're all booked up. When the crew arrived, so friendly. We had covered much of our rooms with plastic, but they brought drop cloths and even more plastic. These insulators took good care to cover all the surfaces, even using painter's tape to carefully apply to the baseboards, eliminating all chance of dust! The holes are closed up so nicely and smooth, it will be so easy to paint. The house is nearly just as clean as before this major project happened in mere hours!! If your home is drafty, do yourself a favor, and schedule an estimate. Never been excited to see a utility bill before, and I'm looking forward to it reducing!!

Utterly disappointed. Chose this company based on their Yelp…read morereviews. The technician (Duane) arrived to clean our ducts on 10/2025. We had previously taken the time to move everything out of the way to provide complete access to the ductwork and make things easier for the tech. Why are we disappointed? - the dust level in our house is much, much worse than prior to service being preformed - upon checking I saw a large amount of debris in the bottom of our ducting - the technician reinstalled a register grill upside down because the duct tin needed tacked up out of the way and he apparently didn't want to bother taking time to do it correctly. - I had to ask about the condition of our ducts prior to the cleaning before he would show me just a one single before photo. I have to wonder if it was actually a photo of our ducting. - I got a negative vibe from the technician from the outset. His demeanor was less than friendly and he didn't talk much. My impression was that he wanted to get in and out as quickly as possible. I felt he was a very poor representative of this company. The work was completed quickly and I can't help but feel we received a "rush job". The dust in our house is much worse than ever and this experience was a complete waste of our $725. We feel like we've been ripped off. Per your response to my review above - Yes it's true that it's been a year since the service was performed. I've been meaning to send a review since last winter. However, because I'm a procrastinator and I sincerely don't like to complain doesn't change anything about my honest, but blunt, statements. The unusual frequency and amount of dusting we now have to do after your service (not to mention shelling out your service fee for sub, substandard work) finally drove me to take this step. Furthermore, explain to me why when I happened to be performing some home maintenance a couple of months ago, I found the thick layer of crud laying on the bottom of our ducting ? It shouldn't be there in that volume. Is your equipment inadequate ? As far as the operable grill reinstalled upside down goes, it was GLARINGLY obvious because it had once been painted except for a strip on the bottom behind the carpeting. That, exceedingly noticeable, contrasting strip was reinstalled up, instead of down, where it's hidden by the carpet nap. (I can send you a photo.) I saw how the tin interfered with the reinstallation and I had to mess around and tack it up out of the way. So I believe the technician didn't want to deal with it and put on upside down instead of, at least, notifying me. And I suggest you speak to your technicians about how they represent your establishment. On the whole, our experience points to some sort of problem with your company. Where that problem lies is up for debate. I initially read all the good reviews regarding your company. I expected at least adequate work to be performed. What we got was, at best, unacceptable. You can speak about all the positive things about your company and your personnel, all I know is what we experienced. Instead of denying everything I said perhaps you should consider it objectively and take it for what it's worth.
