Absolutely lovely salon, Mindy is wonderful and knowledgeable. What initially drew me to checking out InStyle was they offered more than your standard acrylic, gel or gel x nails- they have builder gel (what I opt for) as well as gel hybrid. These products are so revolutionary for someone like me who had weak nails from years of acrylics and am not looking to damage them further. Both the builder gel and hybrid gel are great alternatives that are not nearly as harsh on your natural nails and you still get to style and shape your manicure to your liking and they look more natural. I recently moved to the area and was nervous to find a nail tech- as it can be difficult to find the right fit- and usually you have to check out a few spots before landing the right nail tech for you, I got very lucky on my first try! I've had nothing but pleasant experiences since I started going to Mindy for my nails and I feel very fortunate to have found a great nail tech. Highly recommend!! read more

Service was quick and staff is friendly, but my nails didn't last. I initially came in and only asked for gel polish without a manicure. The person doing my nails didn't understand me so she proceeded with a manicure, which I just gave in to. I rarely get my nails done, but this time I wanted to get gel polish so that it would last me during my week of vacation. I got my nails done on a Friday, and before I even began my vacation, the gel polish chipped on Monday. In short, if I just painted my nails on my own, they would have lasted longer than the gel polish which cost me $33. read more

I had an amazing gel manicure with June today! I went to instyle for the first time after my old salon gave me a horrible manicure a week ago (it was the last straw with that place). So needless to say that I was apprehensive going to a new salon and wanted to be sure to get my money's worth. It never fails...after a long day on any given workday, I am always happy to see Mindy and her staff because they are always so welcoming, warm, and friendly. I typically go in for gel nails and when I do, I always enjoy their excellent massages and massage chair while they make my nails and toenails pretty. She took her time and made sure my nails were exactly what I wanted. June did my pedicure and she also took her time and delivered quality work and great customer service. I always love coming to InStyle Nails to get my nails done! I came in for a full set, eyebrow wax, and upper lip wax done by Mindy and everything turned out perfect. While I was getting my French manicure, the nail tech asked if the thickness was okay. I asked for thinner and she was visibly annoyed. She asked me again if it was okay, and I said thinner. She was super annoyed, when she asked again, I just let it go. But they were so uneven and thick. Not only that but the rest of them were on their phones and one of them even too a nap on the massage chair. I also noticed they charged me more than what was listed on their service menu. When they left me to dry my nails, Nobody checked up on me for at least 30 mins. I had to ask if I could go. Never again. They did a carelessly HORRIBLE job and were unprofessional and inattentive.

The owner/manager overheard my father's request and rushed over and sternly told the tech, " NO MORE!" and demanded my father to leave by turning to him and yelling, "WE DONE WITH YOU, OUT!!" Startled and feeling very unwlecomed, my father paid the tech the pedicure price of $15.00 and gave her a good tip, even though the one nail never got revisited. There was no one else in the salon at the time. We wonder if the poor girl even got to keep the tip! He said the girl looked sad and was rushed to a new customer who had just then walked in, right after she and my farher were both yelled at. My father said he felt sorry for the tech who has to be treated so poorly as a person and as an employee by her employer. And for any other customer who gets yelled at for no reason at all by this uncivilized proprietor / manager. We sre sorry, the three of us will not be returning.

I understand it's probably due to the location, so I typically drive down to Chula Vista to get my nails done because the prices are much more reasonable and I leave MUCH happier. Two...the quality of service is low. I don't really need a super friendly/talkative nail tech, but the woman who did my gel mani on 6/19 felt like she was just going through the motions. Flashback to the first time I went there, I asked the nail tech for a certain design (picture attached...like a double-lined French tip) and she said she couldn't do it. I was disappointed after seeing all the other designs pictured on yelp, but whatever...that's fine, I went with a regular French tip. But then she went on to talk about how she loooooves doing nails and has been doing them for over 20 years. But she couldn't add a line to my mani???? Idk I was still trying to give her the benefit of doubt and maybe it's not as simple as it looks. Fast forward to this most recent visit on 6/19....$100 plus tip for a gel mani and pedi. *eye roll* but again...fine, I didn't want to drive down to Chula Vista, and I was only getting a solid color so I shouldn't have any problems. Less than 2 weeks later, and my gel is chipped. Sure I could've bumped a finger and got one chip somewhere somehow, but 3 nails had chipped by 6/29. I work from home, so I don't really do anything that would cause chips to happen so soon. If I'm paying over $100, i expect my nails to last AT LEAST 2 weeks...I feel like that's fair. In the pictures, some of my nails look much worse because I peeled them...but because I washed my hair and noticed the gel was lifting around the edges. Girlies...yall know the feeling when your hair gets caught in your nails Also, none of the gel on my toes have chipped...so kudos to the nail tech that did my pedi! Been debating going back to get them fixed, but honestly don't care to return to walk out unhappy again. Not a one star because the woman at the front desk is really sweet, and my pedi wasn't a complete bust.
