This building is situated on the street Avenida de la Independencia, near the main boulevard, the Zocalo and next to the cathedral.
It has several different government offices but in this review I am going to talk about the migration office. You have to go here for migration papers and visas. Depending the document there are different steps. I went here to finalise my work visa process and to renew it (residente temporal con permiso de trabajar).
They ask for your passport, a copy, a personal letter with different details, a letter from the company where you are going to work with several details, copy of the owners identification and a copy of the official register number. Besides that you have to fill in a form online and have it printed, another form they give you filled out and a letter where you have to sign. Then you have to pay at any bank and hand in two copies of the receipt. You get an email to come and give your finger prints and then you can pick up your visa a week later.
It is a long and complicated process, most of the staff are really friendly and helpful. Except for the lady sitting in the far back corner, so try to avoid her! read more
