Avoid this place at all costs, even if there aren't alternatives. Their billing and communications…read moreare ridiculous and infuriating. I applaud those that are cautious during these times in protecting staff and students, but the amount of closures compared to other daycares is severely excessive. They will bill you even under their own internal issues of staffing, and the customer service/communication lacks any empathy.

t first I was unsure if I should post something since some years have passed since my son was here…read morebut I feel as if I should share my experience. I had a horrible experience that one can never forget. My son went to this facility 6 years ago when he was 6 months. We loved the facility and the daycare workers. As time went on we realized that the staff was constantly changing and some were rude and just didn't care. I finally asked one of the girls that I really had like and notified us that she was leaving as well why there turn over rate was so high and was told they favoritized certain individuals and treated Everyone else unfairly and were rude. She let it all out. Anyways my personal issue was that they would allow the cleaning staff "the directors niece and her boyfriend" to watch the kids and help out. Keep in mind these two individuals were not suppose to be helping with the kids (we were told they were only cleaning staff) One day the niece picked my son up with another child in her hand and dropped my son on his head on concrete. I was notified 3 days later by a little note stating "im sorry, I dropped your son on his head." When I confronted the daycare worker she was unaware of when it happened or how and pointed me to the person who had put the note. When I asked when and how this happened she told me she was unable to provide me any information and walked away. I went to speak to the director and asked her why her niece was watching my child and how did he drop my son and I was barely being notified. My son could have had a concussion, he should have been taken to the hospital!!! The director only apologized and I told her this was unacceptable. I was a young mother who had no support or friends at the time and was unaware of how to handle this situation, I should have reported the facility. We immediately pulled my son out and as time went on he slowly started showing problems. The doctors were unaware if it is because of when he was dropped on his head when he was 9 months old or not since no one took him to the hospital when it happened.

We now have our 4th kid in kindergarten at Georgia Brown. It is a great school! The immersion…read moreprogram is so wonderful and I love that my kids are completely bilingual by 5th grade. My 2 oldest have even chosen to continue the Spanish program in middle school and plan to earn the state biliteracy seal by the end of high school! The teachers are great and communicate very well when you need them. My kids have always loved every teacher they've had there. The office staff treats you you with respect and helps you with whatever you need. There are many opportunities for parents to help out and volunteer, to become involved with the kids and the school. We are glad we chose to place all 4 of our kids at Georgia Brown for their early education.

My daughter attended the school from kindergarten to first grade. It was sad seeing her friends…read morestart the school and kindergarten and then leave before first grade for their many different reasons. My daughter had amazing teachers, and I really wanted her to embrace the Spanish language. However, I decided to transfer her to Pat Butler where I was going to send my son who had speech issues because I wanted him to just learn English. What I discovered in changing schools is how dirty Georgia Brown is. Litter is everywhere spilled lunch not cleaned up. How is the school so dirty compared to other schools like Pat Butler?-- and it's not just because it's older, it's the people that attend the school. I discovered that they don't do background checks on everyone who volunteers. Sure there's a volunteer packet, but they don't hold responsible and they don't lay down the rule if those are not filled out. People volunteer and are able to volunteer with or without the back ground check/ Tb shot. They are not that organized to openly discuss where the children will be during certain drastic weather conditions, like Pat Butler does. Probably because they just make them all go outside even if it's freezing cold. As far as the PTA, they don't really know how to organize events or make money for the school like I have seen at Pat Butler. They don't know how to reach out to resources for donations for the raffle's. They just asked the kids and the parents to bring knickknacks. Georgia Brown is right across from some apartments and upon picking the children up from school I have seen gross full dirty diapers along the curb side, like the people that live in those apartments live just as dirty. I went to the office and ask them if they were going to call the city to come clean up the streets and they told me, "why don't you call".... so they obviously do not care about their perimeters being kept clean. I will just say I am super glad that I've switched my children to a better school. Of course I love the language of Spanish and I had wished that so much for my family, but not at the expense of the conditions at Georgia Brown.
