My eldest daughter has been a dance student at Creative Dance for the past three years. My…read moreyoungest just started taking her first one this fall. To provide a fair review, I attempted to interview the girls and get their feedback. Ummm, I didn't get far with them because they were quickly distracted by a squirrel pooping on our porch. With that, I would have to go with my opinion as a parent. We love it. Lorrie, the owner and teacher, is organized, methodical and fun. She's appropriately strict and the kids learn confidence and discipline (but not like the kind you learn in a Shaolin KungFu temple). The highlight is the annual dance recital that's held in a large theater. I was pleasantly surprised by the high production level, especially since the performers are mostly still wearing diapers. The dance studio is in the Junction and it's quite clean and comfortable. The classroom is large and appropriately padded. The waiting room for the parents has comfy chairs but could use some more current magazines. There's a change room and two washrooms. The bonus is there are a ton of things to do around the studio while your kid is in class. You can shop for organic food at The Sweet Potato, grab the best cup of coffee at Crema or indulge with a yummy Bronto Burger. We love it.

She has taken creative movers, tap, jazz, modern and musical theatre - but her favorites are definitely modern and jazz. She loves that each instructor she has had has given her plenty of opportunity to shine and she always leaves class energized. Creative Children's Dance Centre has not only enhanced her love of dance, but given her the opportunity to explore movement and gain confidence she carries beyond the studio. There are a good mix of boys and girls attending and the performances are truly spectacular to watch. Obviously I'm biased to love my daughters performances the most, the the tap and hip hop always get the audience excited and the ballet goes from adorable (the tiny performers) to inspiring as the more experienced intensive training or pre professional dancers grace the stage. As the previous reviewer said, the studio is clean and comfortable. The location is ideally situated among many distractions for parents (coffee shops, gyms, shopping) as well. The instructors are all lovely and the owner, Laurie is one of my daughters personal favorites.

Two excellent classes at this Studio make me wish I had more time to exercise. I know!…read more My first love is the dance fitness class led by Heather Kay (www SparkleNation.ca). This is not your grandmother's Zumba class! Great balance of cardio and strength, mix of styles from Latin to Bollywood to african to highland to anything you can think of. And so much fun! Even for a mature, graceless, sort of sedentary type like myself. Coming in at a close second is the trampoline classes (Google Fit and Jump, or look for them on Groupon). Thanks to being protected by the perimeter of your mini trampoline, you and your classmates are safe from my flailing arms and wonky rhythms. You will be amazed at how hard you work while feeling that schoolkid high of JUMPING! Another great full body workout. Both classes are very welcoming - doesn't matter who you are, you can do this. You will love it!

Clearly, it is prioritizing making money over ensuring safety or comfort for women and expecting that women will just stay silent and not "cause any issues". This is one of the worst dance studios I've been too. Yes, most dance studios are a money grab, but…read morethis one is just the worst. First of all, the owner is rude and extremely obnoxious. She has made my child cry before not even about something dance related. Also, the website lies. It has a picture that compares BDM to other dance studios that just irks me. It says, "hassle free recitals" vs. "expensive and unorganized." Their recitals are very expensive! You not only have to pay for the costumes, and the tickets but there are also these other fees for nothing. My guess is so they don't have to pay themselves to rent the school auditorium where the dancers perform. The recitals are also always disorganized, always running late (like everything) and they're always having difficulties during the recital. It says, "maximum 12 students" vs. "no limit... up to 30 or more." The reason they don't have 30 or more is because 30 kids wouldn't fit into their studios. My daughter had a class of 5 girls and it was cramped. They do have a bigger studio at the front, but I would say even that one fit only up to 10. So the 12 student limit is too much.. there's no way 12 kids could fit into one studio and DANCE. It says, "easy/convenient 24/7 online" vs. complicated, paper-based." It is actually almost impossible to reach the owner, if it's a problem she doesn't want to deal with. It says, "no commitment, quit anytime" vs. "large commitment and payment." This is the one that makes me the most angry. My daughter decided she didn't like a class she was taking and wanted to quit. The owner said that she had to tell her a month in advance! Well according to the website, you can quit anytime! She said she absolutely could not quit without a months notice. You could not show up to the class, but you still have to pay for a month, which is of course not cheap and quite a waste. She did give her the option of taking another class for that month, which was nice, but there wasn't another class she wanted to take, so she was stuck for four weeks. A few last things are that the classes often start late. And sometimes even end early. I understand the teachers need a break, but maybe that break should be scheduled instead of taking up the time that we have paid for. It's overall very unprofessional. The owner does not know how to run a business and is clearly does not know how to keep her customers happy. Huge waste. Please find another dance studio. I wouldn't even say it is worth if you lived next door to the place.

I started taking the Body Blast and Boxfit classes at this studio back in September and I'm super…read morehappy with the experience. I've even signed up for their 6 Week Fitness Challenge that starts tomorrow. I'm pretty active on my own, but find it's easy as we head into winter to opt for the couch over the run outside. So, signing up for classes provides a little extra incentive for me to keep active. From my first visit at Cornerstone I felt comfortable, a key feeling for me when I'm working out. The owner, Lauren Cook, took time to explain pricing, the best deals, and introductory offers. Although I don't have kids, I noticed that the schedule's built to accommodate kids classes at the same time adults are working out. Supporting local community businesses is important to me and Lauren took the time to explain why she opened and what impact she hopes it has on the community. All a positive for me. I take body blast with Nick Robinson on Thursdays. It's a mix of functional exercises to build cardio and some strength training. The classes are small, so it's more like a personalized workout with a trainer rather than a class at say Goodlife. The max we've had so far in class is 4 people, so there's no hiding. The upside, is that after I injured myself running, he was able to give me modified exercises during the class at no additional cost and it didn't prevent me from going. This was awesome! The Boxfit class on Sundays is the best workout I've ever had. If you're looking for a cardio workout this is it. It's an hour and divided amongst skipping, jogging, aerobics, box jumping, and punching the bag so you never get bored. You work on 3 minute rounds with 30 second breaks the whole time. Jared is funny and makes sure everyone is working hard throughout the class. As for costs, I pay per session and find it reasonably priced. It's more expensive than Goodlife, but I feel more accountable given the smaller class sizes. And you can't beat the individual attention you're getting from a certified instructors/trainers without paying for one-on-one sessions. I've not taken any of the adult dance classes they offer, but I've ventured into both Yoga and Pilates now and continue to be impressed by the staff they have.

The studio is a bit hard to find because it's kind of in an alley, but it's perfectly safe. The studio itself has a nice floor but the only qualm I have is that there isn't any air conditioning (or at least it felt that way). In terms of the zouk class, it was about 2 hours long. There was a bit of stretch and warm up and they went over the basic steps and gave us 15-20 minute to practice as well. The instructors were very friendly and I was able to somewhat dance it (albeit poorly but I know the steps - just gotta work on the timing and musicality) after the workshop. The staff were very friendly as well and I plan to come here again.
