Not only did Dr Kalra immediately tell us what he "guessed" we'd heard from the other Doctors, he proceeded to give his opinion, which actually made sense to us! Then, as he was not included in our insurance plan, not only did he join that plan (which took several weeks to get accepted), he fought for the procedure they didn't want to cover, and he won! He worked weeks on finding studies supporting he recommended. He is very dedicated to his patients care!! That was neck, we are back for lower back issues. The neck was one time and done! At my 2-week post-op appointment and every appointment afterward, I repeatedly tried to explain how intense and persistent the pain was and how concerned I felt about it. Unfortunately, I left those visits feeling unheard and dismissed. I understand recovery from spinal surgery can be difficult and unpredictable, but as a patient, I desperately needed reassurance, guidance, and to feel like my concerns truly mattered. Instead, I personally felt like I was repeatedly told to "wait it out," even as the pain continued month after month. During this process, I was referred by Dr. Kalra to multiple different specialists in an attempt to address the ongoing nerve pain. However, after being evaluated, those doctors ultimately referred me back to Dr. Kalra regarding the issues related to my fusion and recovery. This left me feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, and unsure where to turn for answers or support. More than a year later, I am still dealing with the same nerve pain that began after surgery. This has significantly affected my quality of life. When I contacted the office again hoping to discuss the ongoing issues I've been experiencing since the fusion, I was informed that I was being dismissed as a patient and later received a certified dismissal letter from the practice. That was incredibly upsetting after trusting this practice with my care and trying for so long to advocate for myself. I'm sharing this only as my personal experience. Every patient's situation is different, but for me, the lack of support and communication during such a painful and vulnerable time was deeply disappointing. I hope future patients feel heard, respected, and taken seriously when expressing concerns about their recovery.

I'm by no means a drug seeker, but have been on a drug that has worked with me for the past decade. Dr. Rai was very professional and honest about his inability to help me switch from my current pain managment provider and have him continue my medication. He did make sure that my co-pay was refunded before I left the office. While, he could not help me, I do have respect for him since he was straightforward and honest. I do wish they would be more upfront about their practice's inability to prescribe controlled pain medication so that others know ahead of time.

It took days of repeated calls, messages, emails, before I was ever able to get through. However they were able to make an appointment within a few days. For the consultation, the doctor seemed very confident that he knew what the problem was and suggested doing an injection. Did not discuss any other possible treatments (i.e. medication), just insisted the next step was to come back for an injection. I went for the injection and it went fine. I had more pain for the next 7 days than I did before coming in, and after that I felt no pain relief at all. I came in for my scheduled follow-up appointment and was exactly on time. I sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes and then came out to remind them that I was waiting and that it was 30 minutes past my appointment time. The person there said something like "oh you're probably next". I told them I had another appointment after this and could not just wait around indefinitely. I waited another 10 minutes and still no doctor showed up. I decided that I could not stay any longer as they were well past the appointment time. I asked if we can reschedule for a less busy time. They said the next available appointment is 30 days out! I asked if they think it's right that the doctor did not show for my appointment and now I have to wait 30 days for another chance? The scheduler told me that even if I come in after 30 days, the doctor may still be not on-time that day and that I have to just sit there and wait. At this point I decided to just leave and go someplace else. Their treatment was not effective at all, their office staff is impossible to get a hold of since they don't answer the phone or return messages, and if they can't keep their appointments then it's really a deal-breaker for me. Instead, I met with a genuine, down to earth, personable doctor that actually listened to all my complaints and I mean all of them lol. Not just "my back hurts," but also my entire medical history. Dr. Desaloms already has my MRIs up on a giant screen ready to review my issues. This office clearly invests in top-notch technology, and it shows. He called me a anomaly during our telehealth appt, made me feel hopeless, almost 3 yrs now in 24/7 moderate to severe pain and have not been able to work as an RN and i'm actually signing up for VAD in Switzerland, that's how bad this has ruined my life, so be careful... i got a standing mri out of desperation. He didn't care to read it, a secretary said he wasn't obligated to read the mri since he didn't order it and dropped me as a patient after expressing how awful everything was going for me in my life due to this. 15 mo post op c5c6 fusion.... one simple layer... i'll never understand, but i am willing to pay 10k to d13 w VAD because of the debilitating pain i have been suffering in since 35 yo til now 38 yo.... almost graduated NP school, and couldn't, just 3 semesters away.... life i worked so hard for, completely ruined. well i thought i had a splinter, he removed a piece of skin and said that should be it…read more later found out those spots are planter warts. anyway. prior to visit and appt i called to verify it is all covered by my insurance and that i had to ask and make sure they also are on the provider list for my ins which is the girl confirmed they are in the network.....and it should be cover by my PPO BCBS TX plan. well it was deceptive because they are not in the network . the foot n ankle are but not mr nelson. so they send me a surgery bill for $400 and has bill collector suing me for the additional balance they billed for less than the work involved in a simple pedicure.
