I've been in this store twice now and purchased items both times. Each time I experienced racial profiling. This is the only place in all of greater Pensacola/Santa Rosa County I've ever experienced this type of treatment. Owner obviously tells the employees to do the same because both the owner and the employees have the same agenda. It's a very uncomfortable shopping experience. Highly recommend the surf lessons on Pensacola beach with Chance Wallis. My 9 year old had a solid hour with Chance that started with a quick set of instructions on the sand and then moved into the water. The waves were small but steady and my daughter was able to catch dozens of them and managed to stand upright if she moved fast enough. Chance also gave us a lot of information about surfing in the area and surfboards, so we followed up the lesson with a trip to the shop and purchased a soft-top board. The shop was staffed with friendly folks able to help guide us toward the board we were looking for. Fortunately for my wallet we got there right at closing so I wasn't able to check out all the clothing and hats but It looked like they had their own line of designs in addition to a lot of other surf brands. read more

"Surfer's surf shop" is what they call themselves. They are a corporate money hungry surf shop and Yancy is ROLLING OVER IN HIS GRAVE at how it's turned into anything but a "surfer's surf shop". Go in there and ask for a $2 bar of surf wax, and watch how you get treated because your'e not spending $300 and driving a BMW. Innerlight NOT THE SAME ITS AWFUL. Support your local surf shop. NOT INNERLIGHT. A few suggestions would be Mavericks or on Pensacola Beach or Waterboyz in Pensacola. They act like we don't have other options. read more

We went to purchase a pair of sunglasses at this shop during Freedom week. During this week one of the items that is sales tax exempt are sunglasses. I asked the cashier about the exemption to make sure he knew and understood the exemption before we even looked at the glasses. He didn't know about it. I asked him to look it up so we could get the exemption and purchase some sunglasses. He just stood there. I asked him to look it up again, and he said since his boss didn't tell him anything and they have been selling all kinds of stuff all day, it wasn't going to be honored. What? You can't just ignore the exemption the state legislature passed?! I said okay, and we walked out. These people are too lazy to even pick up their phones to check the latest rules/ laws that apply to their sales. How hard would it have been to confirm what I was saying? The place wasn't busy. We were the only customers in the store! Nope we won't be back, we will spend our money somewhere else. FYI- surfboards are exempt on the first $300!!! They sell surfboards! Might want to educate your staff people! It's a surf shop! read more

I grew up on Florida's Gulf Coast wanting to surf. I used to read the want ads when I was 10 years old looking for surfboards and I would call the Innerlight surf report nearly everyday to see if there were waves. During High School, I never missed an opportunity to go into the Innerlight Surf Shop at the foot of the Brooks Bridge in Fort Walton Beach. 15 years later, I learned to surf after moving to Hawai'i! On a visit to see my family, I wanted to take my nieces and nephews for a surf lesson. Innerlight had plenty of board options available and made renting a board so easy. We opted for a standup paddle board so the kids could play around if the waves weren't cooperating. This turned out to be a wise decision and the kids had a great time. The Innerlight crew (all of them) worked well together and provided my family with awesome service and a great experience. Hopefully they will be able to add rentals to their Fort Walton Beach location as well. read more

Tom was our instructor and he was AMAZING! Not only was he prompt and professional, but he had a great sense of humor and made you feel at ease. We had a group of 3 (ages 7, 29 and 32) and everyone got individualized attention and plenty of time in the water. You can tell that he thoroughly enjoys teaching and that made all the difference. I have a 15 yr old son who surfs so I spend a fair amount of time in here monthly. Very knowledgeable staff if you need help with surfboard selection. They know what they are talking about and will spend as much or as little time with you to make sure you are happy with your surfboard purchase. I love their clothing selection and outfit the entire family with their great selection of clothing. We are pretty low key Pensacola/Beach dwellers so its easy to find stuff for everyone in here. They have surfing classes in the summer which are amazing and the reason my son still loves to this day. He started lessons with them when he was 8 yrs old and now he will be one of their surf instructors this summer. Just a wonderful place owned and operated by a great family. read more

When I wanted to try paddle boarding for the first time, I came here. The staff was very helpful and showed me how to use the board and paddle properly (yes, it goes THAT way). They have their own launch area right behind the store into Little Sabine Bay, which is a protected body of shallow water and prefect for learning. Their rates are lower than local competitors, too. The whole facility is great. The store sits next to the charter fishing marina dock and there is a snack and ice store, their own well-stocked surf store, and the best coffee shop in two counties, right up stairs. I have since bought my own board, and still visit the store often. read more
