I was there about 13 years ago or so. 11 months with the program. It could have been a better experience. The schedule was exhausting. I remember having to get up around 5:45 to be up and about for working out by 6 almost every day in the first part of program. Bed was usually around 10 after a long day of mostly therapy and group activities. It was exhausting. I didn't really learn how to manage myself or my mental health. Especially towards the end of my 11'months there. At one point I had tried to un-enroll myself and ask for my belongings, they kept saying "okay" and I never received my belongings or anything. Left for a little over 24 hours. They seemed mad and had decided I never removed myself from the program and spent what seemed like days writing down "what I did wrong". Most of my issues have significantly increased since leaving and have been struggling with therapists & med docs after ever since. Most days, I didn't even know why I was there, asked a few staff members and they didn't know either. I will give alot of credit to the very few staff member who made me want to try to be a better person. They were the real blessing. And the outings to Hastings the book store. Anyway. I hope this place got better. read more

This place was an absolute nightmare. If I could give it a 1/4 rating I would. The amount of gaslighting and manipulation perfectly imitates a cult like mindset. The only good people in that program were some of the day-to-day staff. So many times did they help de-escalate me from suicidal thoughts and self-harming urges. When I heard this place got shut down, I felt a sigh of relief that no more victims would endure this place. I think the fact that they make a list of all the mental illnesses that they treat is a "throw it at a wall and see what sticks" method. At BEST, they could treat people with mild depression, but anything further is ridiculous. This place is a sickness and mental illness itself. They don't give a damn about the feelings of the residents and it angers me that This place got away with these acts of emotional abuse. There are so many things I could mention (don't worry, I'll be writing a statement including the names of those directly involved); however, the one thing I will mention is how a resident committed suicide in the transition unit. I was her roommate in the intensive. The residents tried to warn the program managers that there was an active suicidal person. Even the transport driver told them, "She is not stable and she is going to kill herself". What actions were put in place to keep this resident safe? Nothing. absolutely nothing. So all in all, I wrote this review to attempt to show those who are curious how this program was a wolf in sheep's clothing. Underneath all that fake care and concern for the residents well being, there is greed and neglect. read more

This place gave me trauma that I am still unpacking 5 years later. I was treated as insane and gaslit constantly about my spiritual experiences. Told I was schizophrenic even though I had only had one "psychotic" experience. You get zero alone time and are cut off from friends back home. The even placed us on a vegan diet and when I complained of being hungry they told me I was getting enough calories. I'd give them one star out of ten, and that's only because going to this place kept me out of the Utah state mental hospital. Somehow they completely missed that I am autistic. Thank God my parents ran out of money so I could get out of there. read more

It took me almost 3 years post Innercept to get my feet back under me. My friend took his life after this place. I'm finally doing well as an apprentice electrician, but if you value your child, time, and money, do not send them here. PLEASE. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. read more

They say they are under new leadership- but that doesn't mean anything -the staff are not trained properly and they are not helping people improve their lives- but they sure like taking money. They moved into a neighborhood just a few houses down from a middle school and allowed a resident to stay there who has been charged with rape. Another resident repeatedly asked for staff to call the cops on him so he could leave the home. Not once did they tell any neighbors who they are or what they do and we will continue to report them to the state and national acceeditation for how they treat residents until they get shut down. read more

My stepson was here for 6 months. During that time innercept had him arrested for "destruction of property" while he was at the stabilization cabin which was not staffed adequately at that time. He was released from the program in December (when we raised concerns about them having the boys and the girls live in the same house) with no discharge plan or followup which was promised. They have failed to return nearly $20,000 which they owe us from money we paid up front. Insurance was billed nearly 5k a day of which they received 2500/day. Nobody will answer our calls. They also informed us if we didn't come pick him up the day after he was released they would bring additional charges against him. It's expensive babysitting. read more

Even several years after discharging, I have nightmares and flashbacks of this place. The abject desperation I and my fellow patients were in was horrifying. We ate out of the trash because we were so hungry. I saw patients stomp each other's heads in. I saw patients have psychotic episodes and smash windows. I wouldn't wish anyone to be sent here. A patient even committed suicide here. She hung herself in the house I stayed in. Innercept says they treat gaming and technology addiction but they don't at all. Their solution is to take all of your devices away, mail them back home, and give them back to you about a year later when you progress through the 3 tedious stages of this program. All of the one star reviews from former clients are true. This place was and is abusive and tyrannical. I remember being so hungry that I looked forward to the 3 little pretzel crackers they gave us at night to make sure we took our meds. Many of the staff members are completely incompetent and should not be working in this field. That being said, I do remember a couple staff members being genuinely caring and sympathized with our struggle. The amount of people that tried to run away, just to be chased down by staff and the police is baffling. I spent almost 2 years in this program, due to the sick and twisted loop they put patients in. Every week you make requests to your treatment team then it gets denied then you feel discouraged. It takes so long to progress that you eventually lose hope and you end up a depressed shell of a person just surviving. It's true that they horrifically over medicate people as a form of control. Residents walk around like zombies that can't even think straight. When I discharged, I went to an actually psychiatrist who said my dose was absurd. Years later I still keep in touch with friends from this program. I feel like they are the only people that understand what I went through, because they went through it too. I made some of the strongest bonds with people in this program, which is not a complement to the program, but a display of how much we needed each other to get through it. The program will convince your parents to keep you there against your will. I saw advice on another review from a former client that I second completely. Keep your head down and do what you're told and just get the hell out. read more

Do not send your kids here. I managed to get out of here in August of 2019, after being there for almost a year, and this is where the majority of my trauma comes from. Due to this place, simply cleaning where I live now causes immense nausea and I have to listen to power metal while cleaning so my legs cooperate with me - this is because of how the punishment for non-compliance and various things there is manual labor. I am 18 and also am now dealing with neuropathy due to overmedication. Many other things went on at Innercept but I want to make this short. George Ullrich does not care about the wellbeing of the kids at Innercept, nor do any managers. If they did, I would have been provided medical attention when I had a breakdown and was bleeding and when I insisted the stabil manager (Jason) take me to the local psych ward. His response (this isn't a direct quote but is what I remember) then sums up how people are treated there: "going to the psych ward is just a hard reset, you're always going to come back to Innercept." He was thankfully wrong, but the place is essentially a prison (people who I knew at the time actually said juvie almost was better than Innercept). read more

Innercept was a Godsend for our family and provided us with the first real hope that we have had in years regarding our son's future. Our son is an extremely intelligent young adult with Aspergers who failed to launch after high school and found himself on a mentally destructive path. Before coming to Innercept he was admitted to psychiatric hospitals on two separate occasions and was kicked out of another program for young adults. By the time we finally explored Innercept we were desperate, exhausted both mentally and physically. Through a rigorous, structured environment and insightful counseling at Innercept our son has been able to finally mature in ways we weren't sure were possible. The process has involved not just our son, but us as well because family dynamics and old patterns, can serve as unintended stumbling blocks. Now over six months into the program it is obvious for all to see that our son has changed dramatically for the good. He is finally learning self-control, how to constructively interact with his peers and most importantly, how to take responsibility for his own actions. He is learning what triggers his anxieties and how to avoid them. For the first time ever his is actively and willingly engaged in exercise. The thing that is the most heartwarming for us is that our son can now see for himself the progress he is making. As a result, he understands the reasons why he needed to come to Innercept . He tells us that coming to Innercept was the hardest thing he's ever had to do, but at the same time he will also tell you that he finally understands now that nothing of great value is easily accomplished. read more

My experience with Innecept has been not his but amazing. Owners have a great intention and make sure the positive culture is spread to every resident and their families. Sometimes things won't go as people predict or want, specially when we are dealing with mental health. I feel sorry for those who haven't been able to succeed. Innercept is honest, caring and will always make sure it's residents receive all they need. I would highly recommend it. I've in different programs, though there's no perfect place, Innercept works hard to achieve the best environment for residents to grow. I wish you all the good luck in your search. I was at Innercept for nine months and It has taken me years and years of therapy to overcome what happened. I was starved and locked in a basement more times than I can count. I was sexually assaulted by a staff member and not only was nothing done about it, but I was lied to about the situation. I was physically and emotionally abused by my peers and the staff. The staff are extremely manipulative towards the parents, which is why i was there for so long. Please, If you love your kid, don't send them there. read more

My son was at Innercept for 4 years due to his ASD condition, following many hospitalizations and unsuccessful prior attempts to find appropriate residential placement in our local area. After a long nation-wide search, an educational consultant suggested Innercept and another facility. Unlike Innercept, the other facility was much more restrictive and residents were confined in a fenced area with only supervised visits to the community setting. Innercept, by contrast, offered a series of beautiful homes, from farms to lake-side properties, to more urban setting in the town center. Students "graduate" from more restrictive to more open settings with unrestricted freedom of living in the community after they demonstrate mastery of the necessary skills, with registered nurses administering meds and counselling staff providing constant support. We are grateful for Innercept's work. Our son is now successful beyond expectations, equipped with a toolset to live a productive life. We recommend Innercept as a wonderful, caring environment for families of young people with special needs that are in distress and unable to find safe, appropriate placement that also provides living conditions of structure and dignity. It is managed by a highly qualified team of mental health professionals and, after conducting an extensive search, we believe it to be best-of-class residential treatment facility in the entire nation. read more

My last review was long so im going to try to keep this short. The education is poor at places like these i spent 8 years in places like this one this one was not the worst but it definetly was top 3 outof 7 any way places like this dont let you fail with out massive consiquences and they dont talk you threw why you failed and how to go about not failing in the future so you dont learn or grow much because your scared to fail and failing is a good way to learn they have team meetings about you but they dont talk to you about them so its hard to improve in that way too like they will let you know pices of what they talked about reguarding you. My point is its not a good inviroment for learning and some unlawfull stuff happens from time to time it happened to me once and i have heard about it happening to others the problem is people wont believe you if you talk about it because its possible you are saying it because you are in the program and unable to leave or for one reason or another so you could just be trying to screw them over so you are kind of at the mercy of the people who are breaking the law some staff dont but some staff do the point is you are less likely to learn and grow because of how places like this are run they are more like a punishment then a learning opportunity and you could come out worse like me im be hind the pack like im 26 ind i dont have my drivers licence and im unemployed i have been out of the programs for 6 years but i sat down to take a breath after i left and i never got back up i just got all my drive beat out of me and i havent developed discipline during the time i was in programs so im kinda stuck also i have been on a variety of antidepressants since i left and they havent helped some times they made things worse so its not depression just to clerify read more

Listen to the negative reviews. Mental illness does not make an unreliable narrator. There is an attitude in these 5-star reviews, as there was in the program, that if you have complaints as a resident, it's your own fault/you aren't trying hard enough. This is what my own therapist told me, the one person I should have felt the most comfortable voicing concerns with. Empathetic staff members encouraged me to be dishonest and "play the game." Eventually, I followed that advice and that's how I managed to leave Innercept. My issues with Innercept are not from a lack of trying. I tried to grow there genuinely, and I was punished for it. Since leaving, I've sought out therapy on my own terms and I've made many improvements I wasn't able to make at Innercept. I have had to heal from this experience, I have had to work on my relationships with my family, and I have had to wrestle with the fact that I can't go back and erase the wounds caused by this program. They took me in despite the fact that I had only been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and ADHD. I was not su**idal, I was not self-harming or harming others, I had no addictive history, no eating disorder, no behavioral disorder. Despite me never actually knowing why I had been sent there, and them never giving me a clear answer, they continued to try and fit a square peg into a round hole, because it was financially beneficial for them to do so. I was not allowed to speak to my family for the first full month. Something I believe is in effect for all residents when they arrive. From there, communication with the outside world is extremely limited if allowed at all. The adult program is "voluntary," but I had to learn the hard way that the word doesn't mean very much when you have no access to any resources. No transportation, no money, no ID, no phone. They keep all of that in a location half an hour's drive away. If you just walk out the door, they will find you and put you in isolation. They will not give you your necessary resources just because you've asked them to. You learn quickly that you do not actually have any agency on your own. There is no formal sign-out process. There is no one to advocate for your freedom and/or basic rights, and those capable are out of reach. I don't dispute that this program has been very helpful for some people, but when it doesn't fit, isn't helping, or is actively detrimental, it's incredibly concerning that there are no avenues for escape short from actual escape. I literally had to devise a secret plan and move across the country to a place I had never lived, just to get away. Without any money, or an ID, or a phone, or more than two sets of clothing. I'm still here, six years later. I still have nightmares about Innercept, and angry memories. I see things the staff members post on Facebook that are ableist and memeify mental illness and I feel betrayed. I was not the only person in my residence who'd attempted an escape before. In fact, I can't think of one resident who had not tried. I was just the only one who made it out. I feel survivor's guilt constantly. The pain I felt as a result of being dehumanized and consistently graded on every single facet of my day, is just as sharp today as it was when it was happening. It has taken years for me to feel "real" again, and even now I have my moments. If this review can save just one person from feeling as trapped and helpless as I did then, it's worth it. read more

Confronted with a father's worst nightmare my son became psychotic in his early 20s. Diagnosed with bipolar, by the end of his approximately 2 year program at Innercept I heard that he had one of the most stubborn cases they had ever dealt with. No one wants to go through this, least of all my child, a grown man at the time. But if your looking for a trusted group of loving people to carefully thread the needle, find the right cocktail of medication and rebuild the foundation blocks of a life then I sincerely recommend Dr. Ullrich and his team at Innercept. It won't be easy. You and your family will grow along with the patient as they treat the whole family. But they make it sensible and safe, and as stubborn as his diagnoses was they are even more resolved to solve it. Today, my son is a senior at college with a strong enough GPA to declare himself pre-med. I hope he completes his chosen career path and helps others with the same veracity that gave him another chance. Save one life, it's as if you saved the world, certainly my world. I will be forever thankful. read more

My son went through all the phases of Innercept over 5 years. Our son worked through living in one of the more restrictive houses, stabilizing as medication and dosages were updated, all the way to sharing a regular apartment near the local college with periodic supports from Innercept's team. Throughout his time, the staff at Innercept treated him with respect even with those difficult moments. Because Innercept deals with a wide range of mental conditions, my son learned to put his issues in some context with the challenges that others had to face. That type of "diversity" has made our son more compassionate. While not a place where long term friendships develop, the program does allow a young adult to "reset" and "re-frame" so that he can re-enter life more stable. Highly recommend. read more

I have worked for this company for some years now and I believe it is a great place if your young adult is in need of some mental health help. We have very wonderful therapists and a very good psychiatrist. Our students get to enjoy active outings and it is a therapy based environment. They also het to enjoy and learn about foods and skills that can help them be successful young adults. I love my job there and I have seen so many amazing changes in many students and amazing success stories and extremely grateful that I got to be part of the process. I definitely would recommend this program to anyone that may need it. read more

Parents, you will now be given a chance to breathe. As a parent myself I know what it feels like to be where you are. I was afraid for my child, confused with the system and unsure of the next step to take. When my child went to Innercept, I found support and caring for my child and our family. We live out of state, yet had EVERY week a phone session with our child (mom, dad, and sometimes sibling). The therapist treated our family respectfully and caringly, even when our child did not. Yes we had some difficult sessions and our kid left the room, stormed out and yelled. Still we went back to it each week. The staff and administrative team was also great. A vegetarian - not a problem. Sexuality issues were handled respectfully. They helped my child graduate from high school. They worked with the high school to see that all requirements were filled in Idaho for a school in Washington and the diploma is from the local high school. If you think for a moment it all went smoothly, well no. My child went to the hospital, to Innercept, to stabilization, transition, back to stabilization and the hospital and around again and again. It was not a smooth ride, but I never felt alone or afraid going through it with Innercept's help. You do get what you pay for. I spent the college fund, refinanced the house, and took out a line of credit, but I really believe my child would not be alive and as successful today if we hadn't gone to Innercept. You do deserve the chance to breathe, all of you will feel and do better for it. read more

Reading some of the reviews below saddens me. Innercept is with staffed with some of the most caring humans I have ever met. There is so much energy, care, patience and thought that goes into every single resident. I hope if you are reading this you take into consideration that most residents are not happy about being sent away from home, and families and having structure. You could be missing out on a great opportunity to get your loved on help. Innercept is an amazing place! read more

I spent over two and half years at Innercept and haven't been able to talk about how traumatic this treatment center is until this moment. I am now going to college to become a nurse & will dedicate my life to ending this type of treatment to any adolescent! I arrived at Innercept with a severe eating disorder past & some depression. Though, during my stay here, I not only learned what self-harming was but was in various instances where I witnessed other clients hurting themselves & at almost every moment there were extreme crises that the staff couldn't control due to understaffing. I was very young and sensitive (age 14 at the time), and seeing these things and being away home hurt me more than I can explain. After being here for a year (around 15 years old), I started to self-harm and started to restrict my food intake even more. I spiraled with my depression which was a way that the doctor convinced my parents I needed to stay there. Though, as I wasn't allowed to explain to my very own parents: the environment at this facility is so extremely toxic. I saw some terrible things and I witnessed kids basic needs be ignored. The heating at this house was poor, the kids would all wear winter jackets in the house, kids were denied of food when they were hungry and the kids were so hungry all the time that food would be stolen from the fridge and even from other clients' plates! The kids had to clean a barn and the work they had us do was very taxing: I remember carrying wheelbarrows of donkey waste outside, cleaning stalls, and various other tasks around the house. It wasn't the chores themselves, it was the consistency and the difficulty because of the barn and the cold temperatures outside. It was the fact that the staff would point out the way the chore was done wrong and being a natural perfectionistic, I always wanted to have things be done well. I don't believe that the tasks were providing any inherent therapy, quite honestly for any of their clients. The telephone rules and family meeting rules were a manipulation of power, that these clients couldn't express the neglect and the condition of the toxic environment. There were staff members who would yell and it was very frightening, it seemed as though everyone was emotionally heightened. Being at Innercept, especially so young, I was very sad and constantly scared: in the beginning I was scared one of my friends would kill themselves, then towards the end of my stay, I was extremely suicidal and frightened that I would end my own life. I remembering ambulances and sirens and being in constant panic mode, it's something that you never, never forget especially when you watch your friends suffer and then yourself & feel so helpless to help anyone or do anything productive. I left Innercept with physical scars on my body from the self-harm that I had developed there, extreme depression, and multiple attempts on my own life. The kids that I met at this program were the ONLY reason I made it out of this center alive and seeing how well they are all doing really proves the idea of plasticity. I can't explain how amazing they are, their kindness and being able to rely on them for support is what got me through this time and I quite literally owe my life them! I will devote my career as a nurse to ending this type of treatment and to being a good listener to those who have ever struggled! read more

My Son went to Innercept 3 years ago. He still suffers from the results of the program. I spent 24K per month and he received no benefits. Dr. Ullirich put him in the hospital because he did not want to take medication. He acted out so he could get out of the program. He lost so much weight while he was there I barely recognized him once I went and saw him myself. As a parent I feel horrible I put him through that. When I got to the house, I could not believe how medicated everyone was. He still does not trust mental health doctors. I was so relieved when I actually went to the house and told him to pack his bags and let him know we are flying back to CA. read more

The program took our 17-year-old child who was misdiagnosed and miserable, when other programs did not want to accept him. Patiently and with competence they untangled his issues and brought our family back together. He is now back at school, seeing a therapist on a part-time basis, and enjoying life. I highly recommend this program, which combines common sense, attention to healthy lifestyle habits, clinical expertise, and strong commitment by the treatment team. read more

This place is a joke and it nearly ruined my life! Innercept was recommended by my educational consultants when I was finding a boarding school to transfer in order to fit my needs and personal interests. This cluster-f**k of a school was among many that popped up, mainly because of it's "In your face" marketing strategies that claims to be a perfect fit for kids with all sorts of issues. Including those who are NOT troubled like those with learning disabilities and ADHD. When I arrived at the headquarters and the house, I knew it was bad news. As they lied about everything (academics, therapists, activities, etc.) on their website, phone calls, and right to your face! I was told that I would finish up my work from my old high school and even be able to participate on sports teams from local public schools with a "no-cut policy" Ask about anything you're looking for, they'll lie to you about it. Ever single day we spent about 5 total hours in pointless group therapy in multiple sessions and school was only two hours a day in a big conference room to quietly do our work with no teachers. Along with a stupid nutrition policy that went in part to determine your score and allowance. The kids in the dorm were annoying as f**k and hated each other, the staff were in total control of you, and would just give you random medication in order to calm you down with NO medical background checks on the residents. All that put together, and you have a perfect formula to drive you insane and feel abandoned by family. Even after I left the program to go home, half of my stuff that I took up to Innercept with me was gone. THEY HAVE STOLEN SOME OF MY THINGS, MANY OF WHICH I COULD NOT REPLACE! It was either the staff or the kids in the house. This is a scam! The owner George Ullrich should be in jail and kiss his money stealing, family destroying business goodby. read more

I think all the positive reviews of this place are fake. Every single person I know who went to Innercept had a negative experience. I think Dr. Ulrich is paying these people off. I spent four and a half years at Intercept to work on managing bipolar disorder and I was again hospitalized repeatedly after I got home. I was put on a horrible medication called Geodon that was actually the CAUSE of intense mood swings. Seriously, I do not normally have mood swings at all (some would say, misdiagnosed). Anyway... my parents spent all their money including their retirement on my treatment and now have no money to retire. There are so many awful stories and awful experiences at Intercept, all we as residents can do is hold on to each other in a way that says we are all hear for each other while we are running down the street away from the staff members. I watched a girl who had some sort of thing where she would talk to herself, which was really not a big deal at all, be forced to sit in a chair all day and do absolutely nothing. Absolutely nothing. She wasn't allowed to get up all day while the staff member make jokes about how she can just pee herself. At stable, the young adults are forced to partake in pointless labor activities like moving logs back in forth in a pointless fashion. This is a tactic that has the psychological effect of wearing down work ethic, if you are working for no reason at all it shuts you down in a way that makes you stop working. At Intercept, they over drug everyone and after you go home there is a poignant need for your psychiatrist to get you off some of those psych meds. There was a girl whose only diagnoses were Asperger's and depression, they put her on Seroquel and Depakote, some of the most intense bipolar meds. She wasn't bipolar. Then, she was sleeping for a large portion of the day, they were actually considering putting her on Adderall to keep her awake. As a former Adderall addict (I went off of it of my own accord, no professionals), that stuff is highly psychologically addictive and is intense. There is a reason you don't want to be blasé about putting someone on Adderall. Okay, yeah, a lot of parents do it. But they absolutely should not. It is serious. They did not put her on Adderall. But the fact that they are just trying to shove whatever drug they can down this poor girl's throat, a girl who blindly trusts authority figures and does not get that this stuff has serious longterm effects. The environment is poor for recovery, if you want your kid to get out of a funk, or whatever, for the love of Jesus, send your kid to Europe for a vacation or whatever. You will probably save money and get better results. read more

My son H spent 12 months at Innercept. H was 22 and came with a couple of serious issues, depression and substance abuse. H had done a couple of stints in drug rehab and had been seeing a psychiatrist since he was 17 but he was not getting better. By shear fortune, we talked to a friend of a friend whose daughter was at Innercept and he made a compelling case for Innercept. We are very fortunate we found Innercept, they not only provide counseling for the more common afflictions of depression, anxiety and substance abuse, but also for other personality disorders. Any one of these conditions can be devastating for a person, especially for a young person, but when the diagnosis is dual, or more, it becomes a completely vexing problem. There are very few places like Innercept which will take the hard cases, the ones where we parents (and students) have tried many other times in many other places to remedy. Our son received great care and attention from everyone at Innercept. From Dr. Ullrich, to the wonderful therapists, group leaders, teachers, drivers, office staff, everyone. The staff at Innercept are so dedicated to making kids' lives better and their jobs are incredibly difficult. Let's face it, these are tough cases, and sometimes, tough kids. While the road is long, H received great care and love and attention from all of the staff at Innercept. As to the negative reviews, all I can say is that there is a lot of hope in the parents and the children when they go to a place like Innercept and not all stories end successfully. However, if you are reading this review I would tell you that there is hope and the reason there is hope is because of people like the wonderfully dedicated staff at Innercept. Thank God they are there and thank God this place exists. read more

This review is not to talk bad on the program. I am a PAST participant in the Young Adult program. I was there for five months. On the fifth month I got pulled out of the program because it is a horrible program for high functioning individuals. ABOUT MYSELF: I am a very high functional individual. At the moment i am going to school to be a Medic. I got brought to Innercept for depression and drug addiction. In the beginning they tell you that you will stay in a intensive part of the program for about three months. I worked the program to the fullest, I never into trouble and I always did what they say. It took me the Five Months i was in there to even start to look at the Transition part of the program. The therapist at the program would manipulate me to say things to my parents over the phone that i did not want to say. I could not tell my parents how i really felt about the program. They told me if i told my parents how i felt then i would be put on restrictions. The way i got to my parents was i hurt my knee that i had surgery on. I had to go back to California where i was from to see a doctor. During that time i told my parents about the program. Most of the adults at the program are very low functioning. They usually have some type of Autism or Aspergers. The program denied that there students had such issues. If you are looking to put your kid into a "transition" program, (WHICH IS NOT!!) i would not recommend this program at all. I am typing this because i felt sick to my stomach when i started to get manipulated by my own therapist. The program moves extremely slow, and does what they want not what is best. I would recommend this program to somebody who did NOT go to wilderness and is being lazy and not getting out of bed and using drugs, or for someone who has a disorder such as autism. This program is AT LEAST a year long. No matter what they say, that is how it is. If they tell you that the program will fit around your kids program IT IS A LIE! You will not be in contact with you kid for up to four weeks, and even when they get there phone call privileges it will be with a therapist sitting right next to them making sure they say the right things. They will not be able to call you alone to tell you how they feel. This is coming from a previous student that is at another transition program in Boulder Colorado, since i have left innercept i have gotten a job, start medic school, finished high school way faster then Innercept Academy allows you too, made more friends, and have started my REAL life! Going to innercept you will teach you child how to live in a PROGRAM world, not the real world! This is all true and i would testify in court with what i just wrote. I hate this program and it ruined five months of my life. It is a disgusting horrible, manipulating program. The therapist are horrible and manipulate the parents and the students. If you send your son or daughter her you are going to give up your child to the program world. Find another transition program, there are so many better transition programs that TRANSITION your child into the real world! I HATE this program and i know the students that are my friends that are there at this moment would agree with me if you ever got alone time with them. They will threaten and manipulate your child to do what they want or consequences such as getting sent to the cabin which they say is a place to recover, which is really a place for your child to do more of what they want it is not a place to recovery. I would not recommend this program to any High Functioning individual, it will be horrible for them to go through this program. Please listen to what i had to say it is my experience. I have waited two months since i have gotten out of innercept so i could write a review that would be true, not something that would be bashing the program. These are FACTs. Thanks for reading, please consider what i had to say. Of course it is in your hands, but just know there are better programs, this is the wrong one. read more

Innercept came highly recommended to us by an educational consultant we engaged to help us find the right program for our son. That recommendation plus some additional research we conducted ourselves led us to choose Innercept. I can't speak highly enough about the clinical, program and administrative staffs at Innercept. In addition to being highly professional, they truly cared about the teens and young adults entrusted to their care. I am absolutely convinced that Innercept saved our son's life. They worked with him on a therapeutic basis plus exposed him to educational and volunteer opportunities in the community. Our son is now a highly functioning member of his community. He continues to "give back" to his community via multiple volunteering efforts just as Innercept exposed him to. He came away from Innercept a changed young man, one with increased self esteem and a set of values that any parent can be highly proud of. read more

Our son was at Innercept for 11 months ($15K/month) and it was the MOST poorly managed business, physically restrictive, and most medically incompetent program we have EVER experienced. Dr. Urllich appears warm and in touch with young adults but when he hears the truth about his program he becomes madly ego driven and purely vindictive. We pulled our son out because he was severely(!) over medicated, kept in a cabin without our knowing the address while in crisis for a few days, treated by his then partner, Dr. Timothy Stoddard who is a dishonest and lost wandering soul who we demanded not be able to any longer neglect nor prescribe medication to our son. No surprise to us, he ended up meeting with him and prescribing medication while Dr. Urllich was not available. Then to add insult to injury, REFUSED to give our son his medical records when he arrived home, until we enlisted an attorney and filed a complaint with the Office of Civil Rights. The cost of getting the medical records turned out to be approximately $7,000 and in attorney exchanges they accused me of lying about visiting my son and getting his signature for a legal form to protect his health and dignity. I flew from California to Idaho and was on their property interacting with his staff, yet Dr. Urllich decided in desperation to be dishonest and bizarre in his attempts to keep medical records from our son and new physician for continuing care. They are not HIPAA compliant/competent nor have to abide by Federal Laws regarding confidentiality because they do not electronically send medical information to insurance companies for reimbursement. They will have you and your child sign a HIPAA form but they themselves did not know they are not overseen by the Office of Civil Rights. You can check for yourselves by calling the OCR and asking this question to an expert. Dr. Urllich is all smiles and warm when you are signing up to pay his extraordinary cash fees for your child's care, but when you start to demand exemplary care beware the darker side of his personality which will NOT keep your child's best interest above all else, he is most worried about losing his income and allowing you to express your experiences with the public and Idaho State Medical Board. I would NOT think to recommend this young adult program to ANYONE in need of mental health care. It is a scam and a sad environment for those struggling and their families left on the sidelines sometimes states apart. If investigated I would not be surprised they end up without a business license. Check with the State of Idaho for any pending or past lawsuits for further information. I am happy to report he is off all medications and in the care of a competent M.D./PhD who is not a drug pusher for a difficult diagnosis. There is hope OUT of Innercept! read more

Allow me to express myself.....(This is my perception and personal experience). Upon arriving at Innercept I was toured around and shown the lake, college and town of Coeur D Alene Idaho, somewhere I had never been before. I was told by a strange young woman, not to much older than myself that we would be rock climbing, sailing, snowboarding and all other fun activities....it did seem so bad. But that was a complete sack of lies. As we rolled up to my home for the next 7 months (Hudlow) I saw kids outside staring at me as if I had just arrived into the middle of the desert (where I had spent my last 4months at a wilderness program). It was horrid. All the bad things you heard or will hear about innercept is true. It was a nightmare, worse than anything upon imaginable. Yes, I am complaining....but no-one knows how bad it gets in there. You are with people of all psychiatric levels of functioning. Some not too bad, some mediocre, and some well, lets just say highly medicated. People were straight up pissed off. People pissed on the floors, threw feces at therapists cars. Caused destruction to property, used cleaning agents and mouthwash to get drunk.(alcohol was stolen and consumed within innercept locked down facility? (alleged accusation) While I was there, there was a fire which was later found to be a case of arson, a burglary, and multiple fights. Therapy, Yes was a complete waste of time and money and unfortunately I probably need even more after the experience I had. Groups would contain essential life skills such as cooking and "Money Management". Lies. (Yes I am biased but imagine being in a place where you cannot leave, they take your money, Identification, and rights as a human being, and for most kids who are incapable or simply uneducated enough to defend themselves on extended custody). In the beginning they base your participation in groups, hygiene/tidiness, and "integral Therapy", a confrontational form of therapy by Ken Wilbur used at intercept. So yes your life for the duration at the first stage is based on numbers. Eventually power struggle, after power struggle, people become worn down, loose hope and even sometimes do drastic things like attempt to steal a 20 million dollar jet to see there father. I'm not lying check the Coeur D' Alene Press. It may not seem real, but it is was for me. This place is insane. Somehow there was always contraband coming in from the downtown such as cigarettes and chewing tobacco. It was hilarious, yet depressing. Eventually as time progressed i realized that instead Innercept being labeled a democracy, was truly a dictatorship were some good, some bad people just didn't have the input to make it what it is marketed to be. Consult a professional before sending your kid there, and also if you visit........ask the kids how they really feel. read more

I have had the privilege of working with Dr. Ullrich, his staff and his patients for the last 15 years. During this time, I have witnessed many of the students improve, grow and make meaningful contributions to our community & other communities around the world. One of the many advantages of the Innercept program is that the kids are encouraged by their therapists to be involved in their healthcare. I believe the students' lives improve as a result of the multi-disciplinary approach that is used at Innercept. I have always been impressed with Dr Ullrich's awareness of each student's history and their healthcare issues. His capacity to remember each student's treatment plan is remarkable. He has genuine compassion for every student and works tirelessly to ensure that their healthcare plan is personalized to their individual needs. He stays abreast of newer treatment modalities that are available and integrates those that are appropriate for the emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of care. Besides holding Dr. Ullrich in the highest regard, I am extremely impressed with the therapists and staff who are part of his team. They share his pristine values and care deeply for the students' well being. The Innercept program is one of the best I have ever seen. read more

My daughter went to Innercept after a nearly successful suicide attempt. She had been dealing with severe depression and anxiety for several years and no medication nor therapy that we had tried had helped her. She first went to UNI (University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute) for a couple of months. They were fantastic and with excellent therapy and finding the right medication, they helped her very much. But it still wouldn't have been safe for her to come home at that point. The hospital recommended that she consider going to Innercept. She needed somewhere that could take an adolescent (she was 3 months shy of turning 18) and also a young adult. She needed somewhere that she could continue therapy and also finish high school. Innercept was one of just a few places in the country that could meet all of her needs. She spent 11 months at Innercept. She was able to take duel enrollment classes at North Idaho College (in town) that allowed her to graduate from high school. She was able to volunteer in the town with the Humane Society and farther along into her stay got a part-time job in town. All the while she worked with excellent therapists and gained tools to deal with her depression and anxiety. She had stays in the past at other residential treatment programs, but each time struggled upon leaving the program. What was unique about the Innercept experience was that she wasn't in a treatment bubble, where everything was different than it was in the outside world. She was able to address her issues while in a "normal" school, working a "normal" part-time job, going to a "normal" gym, etc., and thus when she left Innercept it didn't cause everything to fall apart because she was back in "the real world". She has been doing very well since leaving Innercept almost 3 years ago. Of course Innercept is not perfect; nothing is. It would benefit from having more staff and thus a higher staff to student ratio. But it provides services that few places do, which can help many young people. I feel very thankful that Innercept was there when we needed it. read more

Hi some of the people who got sent their in the past might know me as iizzii. Its very true. When I got sent to innercept I got a bad vibe once I got there. As I was driven up the driveway at patty dukes old house I knew like all the places been that this would not be good. But I remained calm when I walked first thru the front door of the adultesant house. I tried to give it a chance. But thru out the 3 1/2 years of being in that place during I found out they lied to my parents. Told fibs about me and came up with insane unreal stories about how I was doing there. And the sad thing is I have never really lied in my past and my parents fully believed them They used to believe that I told the truth until I came o innercept and had family sessions over the phone. I would calmly and sophisticately told my parents what really was going in during my time in that place. My therapist deborah fergison apparently had called them before hand and spit lie after lie to them. And by the time I was able to talk to them I tried to tell my parents in the calmest way possible and Deborah interrupted my conversation tellingmy parents that I was having an emotional breakdown lies!!! She even interrupted me a lot of times telling them her lies to make it seem like I didn't know my own thoughts and mind frame and she treated me like I was utterly insane in front of my parents. Every one attack each other in process groups. Staff included every one who was there would put each other down. Insult each other and yelled or physically attacked each other. Staff didn't do anything to stop this. And there were group and staff verbal gangups . I was picked on a lot by the staff. Resident including me had to put on a verbal mask. But I got fed up with being bullied by staff. At times us residents were all each other had. Other times were awful and with the staffs noncupoperation it was like animal vs the prey. We were alone even with eachother. I was alone. They drugged me with different kinds if medication. Before I came to innercept I had a minor anxiety problem and at home I took I anxiety pill that actually works wonders on me. Which rarely needed the pill cause I rarely got anxiety attacks at all. But then when I went to innercept they decided to change the anxiety medication that actually worked for me to this pill called zyprexa that dopes people up until it makes them feel like their body numb all over and zyprexa made me not be able to express my self emotion sly. Physically. Mentally until I wasn't able to process my own creative thoughts. And also I could say the words I wanted to say The pill zyprexa was hell. I felt like a very unintellegent person on this.pill. Innercept also had the nerve to switch my other pills to depression pills which me and my parents knew for a fact that my mind and and body did not have good reactions to depression pills ever since I tried them at age six and thirteen. My parents knew of reactions when I took an anti depressant. It never worked well for me. But I guess thevdidnt tell my parent that they even gave me an anti deppresant medication at all. They lied and when I tried to ask my parents this. Deborah told my mom and dad I was lying about being put on them. Fyi the nurse actually told me I was to take anti depssants. And they didn't have the balls to tell my parent the truth. I'm guessing all the people who worked their only cared about not getting fired and getting their paycheck. And if a staff even cared about me or the others bring held at innercept. I will never know if they actually gave a damn or not. Its a mystery to me.. And I was scared emotionally for life after going back to live in my home state to live in my own apartment and I have even begun writing my book trilogy. A young adult fantasy 3 book series. I haven't been able to forget innercept I am scared for life I moved along with my life. But never from time I spent in that place. It is a very negitive place I am spiritual and inner pt is a hell on earth. Note: if parents ever hear from their kids there trying tell them that their having a hard time at innercept or is their. Kids are try to.tell you their true. Experience only to be intepted.by their therapist who blabbs on with some lie. Listen and believe you child. And. Please for the sake of. Your child. Don't fall for innercepts web of lies. Innercept is really good a making up well thought out lies. Do not be gullible. Peace. read more

I could write a short novel regarding my dissatisfaction with this program. Tim's post is spot-on to what I have observed in the treatment of my daughter. After 7 months in the program she had not progressed beyond the first level of the program which is to last just a few months. It was clear that they were not preparing her for much of anything. She was getting straight A's at the local college but that has more to do with her than them. We informed the school that we would be removing her from the program after her graduation from high school. This drew a response from Dr. U that she was not ready and that we needed to add yet more medication. Never mind she was currently on 10 different meds. When I refused to add yet another med to her list be became incensed. I am the CSO for a large pharma company so I know a thing or two about meds. In order to prepare for her exit from the program and line up her new doctors and therapists we arranged with her therapist for her to come home on a visit. She would return to complete her senior project, attend graduation ceremonies and say goodbye to all her friends in the program and staff. Several days after she arrived home we recieved an email stating that she would not be allowed to return or attend graduation ceremonies because: "you did not listen to our recommendations about her continued treatment". So because we chose to go a different direction with her treatment they chose to penalize our daughter and not allow her to attend her high school graduation. She was devastated. She had earned the right to have that moment. We also requested that they provide scrips for her meds. They sent us what they had leftover. Their were two meds in particular that are controlled substances. It was clear that we would not be able to get appointments made with doctors quickly enough to have the scrips filled before she ran out. We made them aware of the issue. They refused to fill the scrips, and she ran out of meds. I guess Dr. U never took the Hippocratic Oath to do no harm. Unbelievable. Your child will spend 90% of their time locked up in a house with staff that have limited or no training. They seemingly never are able to locate your child to have a conversation with you. My child, who came in with past eating issues, was always hundry and lost weight in the program. Very helpful. Appointments are repeatedly cancelled and rescheduled. Often only the therapist showed up to treatment team meetings. The Educational program director came once. Dr. U came once. All this for the smart fee of $12K / mo. Do not, I repeat do not send your child to this lame program. read more

Innercept saved my family. My daughter's psychological problems were long-term, exhausting, and overwhelming. After more than a decade of weekly therapy and regular psychiatric intervention, I regarded Innercept as a final, last-stand effort to help my child. After investigating a number of residential treatment programs, I concluded that Innercept had the greatest likelihood of a positive outcome for my daughter. As a single parent and high school teacher money was a serious hurdle. I took my daughter to Innercept with the idea that when her college fund (which wasn't all that large) ran out, then she would come home. If nothing else, there would be the peace of knowing everything within my means had been done for my child. Innercept's holistic approach helped my daughter. As she improved my hopefulness grew and it was with complete and profound gratitude that I wrote every check. Paying the monthly bill was pure joy because it was the best use of money I had ever known. Amazingly, as the college fund declined I became increasingly resourceful. I sold anything I could, my son willingly sacrificed much, extended family provided help, and so on. Now, three years later, my daughter is living independently, attending college, doing volunteering, and working. On a scale of 1 to 10 she regularly describes her mood as being a 6, 7, or even an 8. The life altering changes experienced with my daughter are a result of the following: the holistic approach of Innercept, the excellent work of all the staff, my daughter's eventual acceptance of the program, and my leap of faith. By leap of faith I mean choosing to fully embrace the program. I commited to doing everything asked of me, I fully trusted the decisions and actions of the staff, and I went with the flow when minor problems occurred. Innercept is founded on solid ideas, well implemented, and sustained by an exceptional staff. Innercept has brought tremendous happiness and peace to a family that once was burdened by endless mental illness and with it a constant undercurrent of worry and despair. My gratitude to Innercept is immeasurable. read more

It's been a very long road. Every day is a struggle from the emotional and psychological trauma that this place caused me. They have hired and paid a marketing and promoting team to set up a fake reviews site and write fraudulent and deceptive reviews pretending to be "parents" in order to entice them into falling prey to their sick scheme. NO NOT believe it, this is the real story. I have never been treated so badly nor have I ever seen others treated so badly, as I have at Innercept. This place is truly sick. Kids are literally just a price tag to Ullrich. It is very very wrong that a monster like this is permitted to abuse the most vulnerable members of our society and exploit them, their family members and their situations for his own personal immense financial gain, enriching himself. The whole scheme is unethical in every regard. The system is designed for the most efficient exploitation of depressed, abused, and troubled youth that are struggling tremendously already. What they are doing is unethical on all grounds. There is a reason these criminals choose Idaho to set up this horrible place. Idaho, Utah and a handful of other states have almost no regulation regarding these types of camps, so that gives them free license to do whatever they want. It is truly despicable what they are doing. Ullrich is harping on the desperation of families dealing with teens that are severely depressed and often times, suicidal. The objective is to make a ton of money off of people in very vulnerable situations. It is sick. The place is run with a strict point system. If you express any opposition to the unethical treatment you are deal then you have low points and are in perpetual punishment. System of Abuse Targeting Depressed Teens Codified for Fiscal Profit by Ullrich: First your parents are hoping to lift you from a depression so they are encouraged by a psychologist to enroll you in a long term program you may benefit from. Next the psychologist recommends you contact an "Educational Consultant". The Educational Consultant then recommends you to the Innercept Program. If the parents place a deposit down on the program, then the Education Consultation, receives a finder's fee for the referral. Once you begin the program you are suspended from any communication with your parents, so you are not in a position to inform them about the abuse. At the same time, Ullrich and his team works on getting a teen's or young adults rights stripped from them. A process which they are very successful at. They immediately get all of your rights taken away that way they can do anything they want to you, without repercussions and legal ramifications. Every Child who attends Innercept has run away at least a few times. This is another profit scheme. To wind the victim up until then can not tolerate the abuse any longer and run away. Once the child runs away, Ullrich pay a search and rescue team hundreds of dollars an hour to drive back and forth on the highway and they split the billable profit with them and Ullrich tacks on more hefty bills to the parents, as the child's psychological state further deteriorates. They wind you up as much as they can so they can be like, "see you child definitely has a problem, look at how he is behaving." Even though the child is placed under immense psychological strain and abuse and is treated in a way that by most definitions would be considered torture and even forbidden by the Geneva conventions for dealing with terrorists! They claim to the local judge that since you are at the program you are sick and therefore it is in the state's best interest to deprive you of your rights. They persuasively talk the parents into doing this, with promises of improvement in the children. This will not and does not happen, as the program does not consist of anything that helps the teen, it is only make for making Ullrich money and keeping the kids at his program there for long periods of time as they suffer traumatic experiences at the hands of the staff day in and day out and eventually come out severely traumatized and much more sick then however they went into the program. You may not contact your parents at all when you arrive initially, after several months if you become complacent and submissive to your oppressors then you may call your parents with a staff member present, who is tasked with making sure you don't "inform on them" and jeopardize their criminal endeavors. You must first rehearse a script that the counsel will provide you with and when you speak to your parents you have to stick to the script they gave you, if you deviate you're fucked and will be punished for doing so and will lose the "privilege" to voice the human rights violations being committed against you by George Ullrich and the sick uneducated individuals he was hired at Innercept. read more

As a long time employee at Innercept I can say that this team of caring, compassionate individuals does an amazing job helping young people to overcome mental health issues. The work is very challenging and the residents are not always able to see themselves clearly nor are they necessarily happy to be in treatment. Families have often spent years trying to find the right combination of treatment factors, medications, and consistency to enable their adolescent or young adult family member to achieve a stable, healthy level of independent functioning. This is where Innercept shines. We pick up the baton from previous settings and sometimes offer a course correction if things have not gone well. The path is often long and challenging and there are many victories and setbacks along the way. This is the nature of residential mental health treatment. Working here is like being part of a big family. We support each other, our families, and our residents through a huge variety of experiences, both good and bad. Employees at Innercept are caring and committed not only to helping the residents get better, but to give them the best experience possible while in treatment. We strive to balance a structured, consistent experience with customized factors to meet the specific needs of each resident. The campuses are diverse, from a small farm on acres with goats, donkeys, chickens, dogs and cats, to lakeside properties where residents can swim and kayak daily, to independent housing in downtown Coeur d'Alene or even the dorms at North Idaho College! For those who struggle to be safe there are peaceful accomodations in rural settings with one to one staff. Providing this broad continuum of care to a diverse clientele is very challenging. Our residents have the opportunity to go from a small, low stimulus environment where their safety is intensely monitored to having a high level of independence through full immersion in the community at public high schools or the local college, volunteering in the community, holding internships and jobs, and even driving cars and having their own apartments! Thanks to Innercept I have had the honor of working with a wonderful variety of talented, intelligent, creative young people with no end of potential to thrive in this world. We share moments from sad, painful and awkward, to exciting and triumphant! I cherish the chance to share a small part of the journey with these amazing young people and their families and am thankful to have been allowed to be a part of their healing journey. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing people navigate through illness and confusion to find success in life. Watching families come together after fearing they might never be whole again is worth all the stressful and soul searching moments along the way. Innercept has an outstanding success record, yet we cannot help every client who comes to us, and not every client or their family will understand why we do what we do or agree with our clinical strategies and advice. This is evident in the negative reviews. Despite those frustrations I maintain hope that those individuals and families will find a healing path that suits them better and will eventually learn to navigate the world in a healthy manner. As an employee at Innercept since 2014 I have moved up through the company and shared both the highs and the lows with my coworkers and the families we serve. During this year of COVID I have seen our staff and residents pull together in truly amazing ways. Our families have also shown a level of compassion and flexibility I would not have expected in these often divisive times. No company is perfect, and working with human souls is messy and difficult, but in my long career in mental health I have not encountered a more dedicated or caring company. read more

I'll try to keep this as simple as I can, but this whole thing is a mess. I had no diagnosis, yet they managed to keep me there for a year. ( and they would of longer if it wasn't for one of my parents getting fed up that I had been there excessively long ) I was of maybe one other resident who wasn't put on any medication. Nevertheless I had to be a part of their sick game (because my father had the money and he is a workaholic control-freak who wanted to take away my free-will, just because I was a bit rebellious) It makes me so mad, but what I can sum up of this place is that it is a business. Each resident is big bucks no matter what they were sent there for. Your son or daughter will be under minded by staff and therapists alike. If they are not psychologically impaired, believe me this place will make them. Being reprimanded for every little thing they do, I'd call this place a soft core- FLDS cult. The staff is taught to actively search for excuses why each resident is "bad" and they keep track of your behavior (try to hold in your giggles) with a kindergarden like point card!!!! I'm sorry but when you are made to believe the height of your existence relies on a point card, it's enough to make anyone feel pretty demeaned. What did I get negative points for? Wearing my shirts a little too low. That was all they could come up with for me. And when a staff member took me to buy new clothing for summer, she refused every pair of shorts tjmax sold. Well were out of luck when one of society's most popular clothing stores doesn't cater to what is 'healthy'. Mind you my get-ups weren't on any miley cyrus level. But then again I was an 18 year old girl (so what I dress a bit liberally) Not to mention they starved us there. Our diaries were looked at, at one point. And every resident is doomed to go to stable (an isolated cabin) at least once. I thought I was safe for the longest time. Although I thought this place was unfair, I was always respectful to staff, always being moral at the least. I was put away, and I asked Dr. Ulrich why. I'll never forget. "You aren't doing anything wrong, it's just that you aren't thriving" WELL IM SORRY MR overtanned with 6 cars if my standards aren't enough! I listened intensely to him. I listened with open ears, because I wanted to know what this was really all about. What was I supposed to get out of this? I think I was supposed to learn to suck-up to things that aren't just. No one deserves this. I wouldn't wish it on an enemy, because what way to ruin their character further! read more

Being at Innercept is a horrible experience I would not wish on my worst enemy. The doctors have great faith that drugs are the solution to all problems. And if you act in a way they don't want you to act, you need different medications. They put almost everyone on antipsychotics, as if these drugs have no negative side effects or dangers. They were going to give a girl Adderall because they had her on so many other drugs she couldn't stay awake. Adderall is a very addictive drug that changed my life when I started taking it, for better or for worse. It is not something to take so lightly and I was disgusted by the way they acted like putting someone on Adderall was no big deal. Adderall gives you the same high as meth, taken in a regular doctor prescribed dose. Trust me, I speak from experience. This is like giving someone speed to keep them awake. It is ridiculous. There is a lot of sitting around doing nothing at the more restrictive campuses. At one of the campuses everyone smokes because it is so boring and there is nothing else to do. The morale at most of the campuses is very low. For some people, the highlight of their life at Innercept is taking their Zyprexa, an antipsychotic that makes you sleepy and zombie-like. It is very boring. I witnessed them punish one girl by having her just sit in a chair and do nothing all day long. Absolutely nothing, she wasn't allowed to even speak, let alone read or write or get up. If you are having a hard time, Innercept does not give you any treatment options. I was in aftercare in my own apartment and I had a minor setback, and I was trying to get back on my feet but Innercept derailed that by taking me to their cabin in the middle of nowhere to sit around and be bored all day. I was confined to the carpet in the living room for a week. This did not help me. I was told "it's helpful and you know it." I thought this was ridiculous. Some staff are very rude to residents and joke about making them sit in a chair and putting a towel under the chair to catch any urine because they aren't allowed to get up. Everyone at Innercept hates it, I don't understand why more people don't get on the internet and write reviews. It is a horrible waste of years of your life. They read my private journal against my will. I already had trouble trusting mental health professionals and this made it so I never want to talk to another therapist again ever. I don't think Innercept should even be in business.

I committed to doing everything asked of me, I fully trusted the decisions and actions of the staff, and I went with the flow when minor problems occurred. Innercept is founded on solid ideas, well implemented, and sustained by an exceptional staff. Innercept has brought tremendous happiness and peace to a family that once was burdened by endless mental illness and with it a constant undercurrent of worry and despair. My gratitude to Innercept is immeasurable.

I feel very thankful that Innercept was there when we needed it. read more

This was the worst experience of my life. I'm struggling worse than when I went there. They force you to walk. Do manual labor. Strip you of everything you own. Allow you to hurt yourself if you want. Allow you to take as many meds as you want. Allow you to consume substances get in fights destroy property and harbor illegal activity. This is my personal experience. If I could save one person's life from this company this may be worth it. If you don't like eating, you don't need to eat. If you like to hurt yourself you get to do it. You enjoy getting in fights in the middle of the night you got it. You want to meet convicted felons there for assault and other dangerous activities they are there to. Want to talk to your parents? That sucks. Want to swallow boxes of pills from gas stations. Store contraband or sell drugs? All available for you. Want to become institutionalized and not ready for the real world? Perfect. Want to feel misunderstood and miserable everyday that's easy nobody there will bother to listen. Want to destroy property? You'll be able to Want to feel like you're in a psychiatric hell. You've got it. Want to try to get paid for working? That sucks you'll get the run around They will give you so much crap about why it's your fault as a resident and not there problem. You will watch your life get sucked out of you every day. You won't be heard if you scream through a megaphone. If you experience any sort of feelings of depression they will give you more drugs or not even talk to you. You won't know which person to tell what too one staff will listen one will ignore you, one will send you in the middle of the woods to play with sharp objects. I attempted to kill myself more in there then I did before I got there. Take my word I would not let anyone in there if they where forced. Look at some of the successful resident's: One stole a airplane Multiple go to prison for violence read more

You will see many angry posts from past residents of this program. That is more likely due to their unwillingness to do the treatment and work on themselves than the program itself. I saw many other kids in treatment around me that simply refused to do anything. Does any kid want to be in treatment? No. Does every treatment program have negative reviews from past kids who had poor attitudes. Yes. But some of these angry posts come from kids I was there with who failed to do what was asked, not because the program was bad, but because they refused to do the program. Its a lot easier for them to yell "stay away" after they made it so difficult for anyone else to focus on their treatment. Its a lot harder for positive reviews to make it on here because treatment is not exactly the highlight of life. I struggled, I didn't always enjoy the program, I argued at times, but overall I'm healthy, safe, and alive. The most challenging part was trying to keep moving forward when other kids like the ones negatively posting here kept trying to pull you down. The staff were supportive, my therapist helped me, and I faced my fears. I moved on and left treatment hopefully forever. Innercept helped me with that. I wish the ones posting negative things would have tried to work on themselves instead of tearing down others like they tear down this program. read more

This place disregards and undermines patients wellness with abusive staff, therapists, and doses of medications. Place is criminal in their methods of treating patients and has no real goal/method positive efforts towards treating treating their patients and instead only abuses them with crackpot diagnosis and disfunctional and moronic therapists. Program does nothing right and succeeds only on ruining the lives of their patients and trying to make themselves look like the problems they inflict on their patients is part of the "long term treatment" they are working on with their patients. Place is dysfunctional, abusive, has absolutely no accountability, and succeeds again only in abusing their patients and making it look like self inflicted issues of the patient. All the long term staff as well as newer staff most likely should be fired and/or sued and hopefully lose their medical licensing for the blatant lack of professionalism and successful and appropriate care of each patient. In summary zero accountability, actual abuse, and promotes any form of abuse towards their patients because they are corrupt and failures at their job. read more

Innercept is unlike any other treatment center we have encountered. From day one, the staff made us feel welcome and heard. Choosing to send a child into treatment is one of the hardest decisions that a parent could ever make, yet Innercept has proved time and again that it was the best possible decision. The staff truly put the needs, growth, and healing of their residents above all else and the progress we have seen is outstanding. Attention is given to all aspects of treatment and healing. From personal psychiatric, therapeutic, and dietary care to life skill building and educational and vocational counseling, all aspects of growth are addressed and personalized to the individual need of the resident. Treatment is never easy nor is it a linear process and watching a child go through those ups and downs is agonizing. However, the support and care provided by Innercept has been humbling and made this journey worthwhile. We would recommend this program to any parent or family seeking answers and healing for their child. read more

Pros of this facility: the scenery/lakeside view Cons: there was no "change in leadership", abusive staff members were promoted to higher positions and now run this place. My experience: upon arriving i was told i was a voluntary admit given I was over 18, they took my phone and wallet (including my id), telling me they would keep it locked, when in fact, they mailed it to my parents. I asked to leave numerous times and was told "theres the door" given i live out of state it wouldve been impossible to get home had i not made a secret plan to run away (where i secretly contacted a trusted love one to come get me at a nearby location). I was gaslit, starved, forced to do manual labor, physically abused, to only name a few. they push benzos on all YA clients, when i asked to be off of them, it was suggested i take them daily for a week to prove it doesnt work. I witnessed others eat out of the garbage or be restrained incorrectly, others self harming. read more

I was at innercept about a year ago and I would never reccomend it to anyoneI. nnercept is a horrible program. George Ullrich is a legal dope dealer and over prescribed me on two different meds. As soon as i left innercept my new doctor said i was prescribed an insane amount of Trileptal and Abilify. Most of the staff here are unprofessional and there are some many ridiculous rules and procedures that are enforced by the higher ups that everything just gets really confusing and a lot of the staff do and dont enforce all the rules which leads to alot of mixed messages. Also if your Child is any part of the LGBT community, dont send them here. I am a Trans person and the staff at this program treated me horribly. Some of the staff including one of the Education staff Ralph Day, refused to call me my correct pronouns and told other students not to use them either. Honestly this place is a fucking sham. I hope Dr ullrich gets shut down soon! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. It's taken a lot of healing to get past the trauma on Innercept. This is a for-profit business, I would not call it a treatment center. Please don't put someone you love through this. The owners do not care about them. I was handed the wrong meds multiple times and didn't receive any legitimate therapy sessions. The staff are not properly trained. The punishment system is out in the middle of nowhere in a cabin with seamen on the shower walls and dirty rugs with toe nails stuck in them. The punishment is not consistent. Some students runaway and cut themselves or get drunk and have sex with a stranger and never get sent to the cabin yet I was sent to the cabin because I pecked a boy that I knew well on the lips (we were the same age). At the cabin you shovel rocks and snow all day and are dehumanized. Please, do not send someone you love here. read more

Innercept was the most positive, life changing experience there was for my son and my family. I almost didn't send him there because of a few misguided negative reviews. But a top specialist and my husband flying there to visit personally, changed my mind. I believe any negativity stems from children and or parents that don't want to do the hard work, don't want to be there and resent the rules. I'm a teacher and was impressed with the level of professionalism, intelligence, dedication and philosophy. Plus, we had openness and regular contact with the staff. I had given up and was resigned to the idea that he will just never get better, but Instead he went from spiraling downhill to currently thriving in a top college. Our relationship has never been better. I attribute it to Innercept, and can't thank them enough. read more

Innercept provides a very unique opportunity for struggling young people that is hard to find at other RTCs. They look to meet each resident where he/she is currently functioning rather than where the resident is expected to function. Overtime, this approach allows residents to find and feel success and creates a more mature, independent young person. Residents are challenged in ways that promotes independent, healthy decision making. This treatment approach shows residents that they are not defined by any disorder, diagnosis or chemical but rather are unique young people who are able to accomplish many wonderful things. The staff and team that oversees and assists the residents are caring, approachable and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to helping residents reach his/her full potential. read more

I'm not going to elaborate because it's been years and I just cannot dwell on it anymore, but I saw some messed up stuff in my time here, from child endangerment to downright abuse. I wish I'd known about such a thing as child protective services when I was a kid, I would have filed a report. Please, stay away. The nice ski trips and hiking don't change the fact that your kids aren't safe here, physically or mentally. Ulrich, I can't imagine you don't understand what goes on here. Please do burn in hell. read more

This topic is familiar to all of us due to the constant and tragic stories we hear every day. Innercept is the commitment to do something about it. Chuck S.'s review is clearly biased as he worked professionally with Dr. Ullrich, and thus Chuck is violating Yelp's Terms of Service. As for my review, Innercept needs to be rated negative stars. If you want real ratings, go to Google Reviews. Or, if you are so stubborn as to use Yelp, scroll down to the first post. You will see the first post has the most Usefuls, and happens to have a one star. Yelp is difficult for honest reviewers to be heard. Yelp is so biased. read more

Once again YELP has removed people's honest reviews of a business through their "specialized software" program. The Internet should be a place where people can go to hear first hand accounts of interactions with a business, instead YELP has turned it into a graffiti wall. How are people supposed to get accurate unbiased info on Innercept if they keep removing people's reviews!!?? You should be ashamed of your self YELP! read more
