Jostar Interiors - Large kitchen with beverage buffet and double islands

Jostar Interiors

We recently had Jostar Interiors handle our kitchen renovation and I have to say how impressed we…read moreare. We actually started planning it several years ago, getting different layouts from different places. My husband and I desperately needed a new kitchen at that point, but because we couldn't agree on anything, we put up with our painful (*#^6}!X_%!*) room way too long. When our friends shared that they had Jostar help them with their kitchen renovation a couple of years ago, we decided to give them a try. (Mostly because when we saw their kitchen we were green with envy!) We are SO THANKFUL WE DID. Jostar's design team really paid attention to our list of things that we wanted in our new kitchen and what the problems were in our old one. They also asked how we wanted our new one to look. They listened to ALL our ideas (even our kids') and made some great suggestions that we hadn't even thought of before. (Even though we revised our plan for 7 years!) Since our family was getting older and our kids would soon be moving out on their own, the designers showed us how we could make it work for us now and in the future as we got older. *(Can't believe we didn't think that far ahead!) When the team visited us in our home (and got our extensive lists), they took measurements and went to work. My dream kitchen involved moving a wall. I wanted to create a larger eating area and we needed more storage and more countertop space. It was so PAINFUL to work in the way it was! And we had a hard time deciding whether or not the expense of moving the wall was going to be worth it in the end or even if we'd like the change. So the designer showed us a couple of options of what it could become. We couldn't believe it was our kitchen! How amazing it was to be able to see what it could be (IN 3D) before we spent the money. We worked with the designer to get everything perfected and that definitely helped us make up our minds. My husband honestly didn't think it would look good or be worth the expense, but after we saw the pictures, HE TOOK OUT HIS CHEQUEBOOK! Deciding whether or not moving our wall was going to be worth it (in the end) was one of our biggest hurdles. But Jostar made it SO easy! What's more, they helped us work out a budget we could live with and my husband didn't have to use his hammer even once! The other thing we really liked about working with Jostar was that during our renovation, the project manager made frequent visits to our home to check on things. She talked with us regularly to let us know how our renovation was going and where things were at. If there was an issue, she discussed it with us right away and gave us options on how we could handle them. We know renovations are never simple and things can always come up, but we never worried. We always felt the staff at Jostar were on top of our renovation and that they cared about us like we were their own family. We had no problem trusting that we were really being taken care of! Even though our renovation took about 12 weeks to complete (we were so anxious it just SEEMED like forever), in the end, it was SO, SO worth it. We ran into a couple of snags along the way. One of them was mould! But the Jostar team dove in immediately and got the problem dealt with quickly and effectively. And Joanna and her team kept us informed on progress the whole way. A few weeks after everything was done and we moved back into our kitchen, we had an issue with our faucet. I only had to email Jostar and a plumber was out the next day to see what the problem was. Rather than leave us without water in our busy kitchen for several days while they ordered a replacement, they arranged for their plumber to install a temporary faucet for us to use. And as soon as the replacement arrived, they had the plumber return to exchange the temporary one with the new one. What service! I can't say enough about how Jostar's design team married mine and my husband's 'polar opposite' taste when it came to the layout of our kitchen and the style of our cabinets. Because we are so happy with our design, we are looking forward to renovating our two bathrooms next year. Needless to say, we ARE going to call Jostar to handle them. We appreciated all their patience, their excellent advice, and their attention to the smallest detail. And even more importantly, we love their after sales service. Thank you Jostar for making us your priority through our renovation. We love our kitchen so much we are NEVER going to move! We brag about it to our friends and family every chance we get. And my husband is ecstatic that my cooking tastes so much better because I'm finally enjoying working in my kitchen! Completely Contented, Christine from Foxboro

We used Jostar Interiors Ltd. for a renovation that turned into a costly disaster…read more We contracted Jostar to do an extensive renovation. The promised time line was 3 months for completion. There were unreasonable delays, inconsistent appearances by the trades and unsatisfactory work, and little to no on site management or supervision by the owner operator or her delegates. Jostar's interior designer incorrectly measured room dimensions for a built in hutch, two book cases and a custom made desk. We were charged more than $5000 by Jostar for this design work which had to be totally discarded. We then had to pay an independent designer (not Jostar's) to fix the mess for which we paid an additional $3500. We were then invoiced by Jostar's owner for her designers time and discarded work which we refused to pay. There is much more to this story and it is all bad. Painters painted walls that were to be covered with wainscoting and were not to be painted at all. A Jostar's trade caused extensive damage to our preexisting hardwood floor for which Jostar took no financial responsibility. We finally ended up having the damaged hardwood flooring repaired at our own cost. We finally fired Jostar for lack of job management and trade performance. After Jostar was fired, we were presented with a bogus invoice for work that was originally contracted to be done by Jostar but was never done. We hired out this work to independent trades after Jostar was fired. Some of Jostar's trades were never paid by Jostar's owner. We had to search our house title to insure that her unpaid trades had not placed a lien on our property. After Jostar was fired, the owner recognized and apologized for the poor work quality and lack of job management on our renovation. She stated she had no idea the job was in such a disarray, but took no responsibility for the mess she left us in. She then had the temerity to ask for future referrals for her company after she had bee fired. How can an owner operator not know what is going on in her own job site, not take responsibility for damage done by her own trades at a job site and bill for work she knew was never started, let alone completed? To make matters worse, the owner of Jostar then sued us for the unpaid discarded interior design work (for which she had not paid her own interior designer for... one of the trades that were never paid) and the bogus invoices for the originally contracted work which she knew Jostar had never started. Our experience with this company was costly and frustrating. We did not expect to be overcharged for unsatisfactory work with little to no on site job management. If you don't pay what Jostar invoices you (even if it is incorrect, inaccurate or inappropriate), you may get sued. The owner operator of Jostar has a history of numerous law suits against her clients (unfortunately we didn't search this before we hired Jostar). Our advice after dealing with Jostar is "buyer beware" before hiring a designer/contractor for any renovation work. Do your homework. Govern yourself accordingly. Without prejudice, PO!
