I have qualms about leaving my eyes in the hands of this office. first they offered a brochure saying there was no charge for people on disability and now they are charging $45. Convenient parking was available, and the spacious optical center was easily accessible. The staff quickly understood our needs and graciously provided the necessary replacements. Despite being visitors from New York, we felt welcomed and well cared for. The staff even went the extra mile by providing a replacement case for my wife's glasses at no cost. No charge at all for the pads nor the time to replace and fit the repair. We were pleasantly surprised by the lack of any attempts to upsell or pressure us into additional services. This positive experience leads me to believe that they provide excellent care to all their patients. I would highly recommend their services based on our interaction.

However, after seeing an ophthalmologist I was told my corrected vision was deteriorating, I was developing Strabismus, and had a central scotoma. All of which wasn't detected by them. It was completely useless or detrimental for me to see them. I also mentioned I though I had a "scotoma" he erroneous corrected me and said "it's not called scotoma; it's called glaucoma" and referred me to the wrong experts. I really feel like I was completely let down by them. I feel even though assessing someone's vision may just be a job to them. However, their incompetence or lack of care may negatively impact their client's quality of life.

Doctors offices of any kind can sometimes make people nervous or anxious but I was completely relaxed the entire time I was there. The place is very clean, well lit, and had a very warm, welcoming feeling to it. The exam was quick and easy. These were the first pair of glasses that I had purchased in recent memory and to be frank I didn't really know what I was looking for. The lovely receptionist offered to help me find a pair that suited me. She was very knowledgeable and recommended a few pairs that she thinks would look good on me. I'm not really the easiest to help when trying to pick something out (I'm super indescisive and picky) but she was extremely patient and polite. Once my new pair glasses came back from the labs (only a few days later, I might add) I noticed that my vision was still slightly blurry while I was trying them on with one of the staff. The optometrist offered me another eye exam and lens correction (completely free of charge). They even arranged for me to go down to the lens labs directly and have my new lenses made and installed on site in under 45 minutes! Extremely convenient! They had a pretty awesome deal going on while I was there ($100 off all frames). I can't really complain about pricing mostly because I opted to get a branded pair of frames (Oakleys) and specialty lenses so it was reasonable that I would be paying more than the average customer. The only complaint that I have (and it's not really a big deal) is the frame selection. It felt like there wasn't much to choose from (even though I did end up finding a pair in the end that I really liked). Highly Recommend! ^_^

They just needed the tiniest of adjustment. Kevin who told me he had so many years of experience - was obviously offended when I said I didn't want the to be worse after bringing them in- because he then told me how many years ares of experience he had. But yeah, then calls me and says he broke my glasses, irreparably. Could not be fixed he said, by anyone. He relied on the sign at front that releases them apparently from liability right up front. Then when I picked up the pieces of my glasses I asked for a record of transaction. He pointed the baggy with the pieces of my glasses, and incredibly - says to me, "THERE's your record." Even though he had one written out right in front of me he refused to give me a receipt like " no charge" for example and what the outcome was. He said he was going to shred that record. Shred it!! He said, "WE have a record". What? And I was supposed to be grateful to him he said, because he did research for a half hour on how to fix them, so that was for free and I should be happy. When I pointed out that it was him who broke them, he said "No YOUR DOG broke them!" I mean, what do you say to that? Yes my dog sat on them- that's why I came in! My dog didn't "break them" - They weren't broken- I could have worn them, I could have tried making that tiny little adjustment on them myself. But yeah, bad decision. Then he decided to get really down and dirty and make it really personal- he told me he was SO SORRY that I came in today at all and I was the worst client ever. (Funny yeah, when I was there for eye exams or looking for glasses I wasn't the worst client ever- but now I'm street trash apparently). He barely gave me a card that I asked for to even know what the shop was where I had been. Ultimately absolutely refused to give me any record in writing. "That's your record" (pointing to the baggy with the pieces of my glasses). That's worth repeating, WOW. I'm so sorry I decided to try to give them a try. (Yes I've been there before and so yes I am an existing client and THAT's how you too can get treated if you decide to take a chance on Rx Eyewear in James Bay). So, Zero stars.

I walked in between 3:20 and 3:25 and was back out on the street stunned at 3:28 with a slip of paper in my hand. I have never had such a slap dash eye appointment in my life. Needless to say, I won't be using this prescription as I feel it would be a waste of my money. He was cavalier and gave the impression that he didn't have the time of day for me nor did he care whether or not I had a proper prescription. It goes without saying that I will not be returning, but of course I'm now on the hunt for an eye doctor and will have to pay for another appointment on my pension. Upset is an understatement.
