I don't know when my (or our) next trip into the Chester area might be, but should I/we pass through here again, I/we will be sure to book the Inn on York Street. This place is very rich with history and is absolutely beautiful. Johannes is an amazing host and extremely accommodating and friendly. We really enjoy chatting with him and learning about the house and its history. In the morning you get a delicious home cooked breakfast from Johannes. Cobwebs in the corners of the room, and both entry bathroom doors had obvious claw scaring from pets left in the room and locked in the bathroom. The water pressure was nice in the shower. We were exhausted after 10 hours on the road and just made do. I gave this property a 2-star rating to elevate it from a 1 because of the front desk help and the breakfast. I will never stay at this property again. I don't recommend it. Especially, at these prices.

Absolutely Unacceptable - No Hot Water and a Frustrating Stay at Holiday Inn Express Richburg…read more I am writing this review to express my extreme disappointment with my recent stay at Holiday Inn Express Richburg from 05/17/25 to 05/18/25. While I had hoped for a comfortable and relaxing experience, my stay was significantly marred by the complete lack of hot water. From the moment I attempted to take a shower, I was met with nothing but cold water. This was not a temporary inconvenience; it persisted throughout my entire stay. Being unable to shower with hot water is simply unacceptable in any hotel, regardless of its price point. It made basic hygiene uncomfortable and frankly, unpleasant. Beyond the fundamental issue of no hot water, the way this problem was handled was equally frustrating. Upon check-out the manager on duty tried unsuccessfully to offer us a few points to resolve the situation and when we would not accept the points he became rude and unprofessional. I left a total four messages for the new Gerneral Manager Miranda Piper. Miranda avoided my calls and made no attempt to return any of my four messages. After discussing this issue with the front desk I was told they were aware of the issue prior to me booking my reservation however no one informed me that there was no hot water upon check-in. * "I contacted the front desk on 05/18 and was told they were aware of the issue. No follow-up or resolution was offered." * "When I inquired about the lack of hot water, the staff seemed indifferent and offered no explanation or timeframe for when it might be restored." * "I was told it was a 'building-wide issue' but no further information or alternative arrangements were provided." The lack of hot water significantly impacted my stay by making it difficult to relax, causing me to feel unclean, disrupting my morning routine. It is a basic amenity that I, and I believe any guest, should be able to rely on. I would strongly advise potential guests to consider this serious issue before booking a stay at Holiday Inn Express Richburg. A comfortable stay necessitates basic amenities, and the complete absence of hot water renders this hotel far below acceptable standards. I will not be recommending Holiday Inn Express Richburg to anyone and will be hesitant to book here again in the future unless I receive assurances that such a fundamental problem has been rectified.

Interrupted the young lady who was in the back office with headphones in. Explained my room was full of ants. She didn't even apologize, simply said well that's not good and changed me to a different room. I didn't get the impression she was surprised to hear there were ants all over one of the rooms in the hotel. The interaction felt rushed and she seemed disinterested and distracted (still had one of her two ear pods in while talking with me). She rebooks me into the room across the hallway from my original room (now I'm in 416) and gets me a new key. Upon entering my new room it smells so strong I have to leave the door open for 10 minutes to try and air it out. It was so pungent it was actually hard to breathe at first. Some combination of dirty locker room and severe mildew. Either the odor finally aired out or I just got used to the smell, but it eventually went away. Finally I get to sleep and all should now be right in the world. Only I wake up the next morning and come to realize there is no toilet paper. None at all. Of course, I realize this at the most unfortunate time, after I have already used the toilet and now in need of the aforementioned toilet paper. I've traveled more than 2/3rds of this year for business staying exclusively at Hilton brand hotels. My account says 34 stays for 96 total night so far (it's mid September). Most have been acceptable. My last few stays at this particular hotel were decent. This experience, however, has motivated me to look into switching to Marriott and their family of hotels for all my future stays. UPDATE: Stopped in at the front desk early in the morning and let them know my room had no toilet paper. The lady asked if I was headed back up as she looked for some to hand to me, again no apology. I said I was on my way out to work, but asked if she could have someone bring some up and place it in my room. Returned after a 10 hour work day...wouldn't you know it, no toilet paper in my room.

We arrived to find the cache behind the construction tarp. It looks like the new bar will be beautiful when completed. We didn't want to enter the quiet construction zone without permission. The front desk clerk summoned the General Manager. Neither had heard of geocaching before. The GM led us into the construction area and allowed us to write out names on the log. I'm sure the GM had many other things to do, but he took time to assist 4 geocachers from Michigan with their adventure. Thanks for the assistance. Since 2011 this geocache has brought in over 525 visitors to this establishment. Had the place been open we would have probably had a drink to toast the find.
