What makes me sad is there are not any other options where our whole family can stay and they know it. And they clearly have the health department, or whoever is supposed to keep motels up to code, in their back pocket, because there is no way a legit inspector would let that dump stay open!! This motel clearly has not cleaned in decades!! I had hopes that after last year, and the Covid situation, possibly, it would be cleaner. I was horribly disappointed!!! The most disgusting place I have ever stayed!!!!! Blood on the bathroom door, I don't even want to think about what was possibly in the rusty corroded screw holes of the toilet lid. It looked like poop and pee collected around the screws but I just kept pretending it was just rust. The sink was barely hanging on the wall, and in addition to the random hairs, there were things on the shower walls and door that I was grateful I didn't have to touch. Just the absolute filth on the walls and doors of the whole place was enough to turn my stomach. Thankfully my cousin let me borrow her Lysol and I sprayed down everything in the room. If I were ever going to catch Covid, this is going to be the time and it will be because motel! Just disgusting!!!! Like I said, not the first time I have stayed in this filthy place but I will no longer be quiet about it! Somebody needs to make them clean that horribly disgusting place up or next year, I may sleep in a tent out behind the reunion hall. It would be cleaner!!!! They really do not deserve even one star! Just gross!!!

Country Woods Inn - We stayed in the rail car.

We had such a special stay in the train car--this place is truly something unique. Every detail of…read morethe space was thoughtfully designed. It had all the charm you'd hope for (the vintage feel, the clawfoot tub, even the most creative little touches like the sink), while still being incredibly comfortable with modern amenities. You can tell a lot of care went into making it both beautiful and livable. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the setting. Waking up to open fields, wildflowers, and animals nearby, and then winding down under a sky full of stars--it felt peaceful in a way that's hard to find. It was the kind of place that gently pushes you out of your comfort zone in a safe and meaningful way, and those are the experiences that stick. There were also a few thoughtful touches and moments during our stay that made it feel even more special and memorable. It created some true core memories for my kids--those little unexpected experiences that you don't forget. The caretakers were absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome and took extra time to make sure we were comfortable. You can feel how much they care about the space, the animals, and the people who visit. This isn't a typical stay--it's something much more intentional. It feels like a place where the land and animals are genuinely cared for, and you're invited to be part of that, even if just for a short time. We will absolutely be back, and are already looking forward to trying some of the other spaces on the property next time.

The "inn" is really a 40 acre farm (bed and breakfast) with animals for kids to look at, various buildings to view, and a community fire pit. Ordinarily, there is a breakfast bar that was not functioning during the pandemic. The bucolic environment was very relaxing and we appreciated the time away from the hustle and bustle. There were some problems with our Airstream. The inside smelled musty and the sheets had some weird odor. We were there in October and it got cold at night but there was no heat so we froze during the night. There were no blankets. The "kitchen" was not very well equipped, lacking even a bottle opener. So, we enjoyed our time but it would have been better if the Airstream had been better maintained and equipped.

Arriving after dark, my partner parked on the street and walked down the Art alley to ensure that he had the right spot and knew where to park. I could see that we were in a small town with some local shops and a small theater but tried not to look around and ruin the surprise. Once the venue was verified, we pulled into the grassy parking area behind The Cell Block, located the keys, and found our way to the front door. I could tell that the place was small, dated with a very modern makeover, and had a rooftop area. I was so excited to see inside!! With the heavy, suctioning swoop of the metal door, the prison-turned-boutique-hotel interior was revealed and I immediately congratulated my partner on such an awesome find!! Not one detail was ignored! We took pictures like paparazzi before even putting our bags down over sheer excitement at this overhauled, 1930s, 2-cell, cinderblock city jail where hard steel met white walls and ceiling, delicate flowers, tinted glass, crisp linens, and windows on every side. I have so much to say about this place - from its prison/criminal-themed music records to the rooftop gas fire-pit to the curious alley cats to the sparkling clean wine glasses and complimentary wine and Balcones single malt...it all made for such a special and adventurous stay! While this might be a one-time special occasion for us, we are very eager to treat my parents to a visit some day and have already recommended it to a couple of friends!
