The new shop on 75 Queens. Same owners of 95.

Man o'man, what a tough tough decision. So, I've been itching to get a new tat for a long long time. And being in Auckland, I thought Maori and "Why the heck not!" So along Queen St, I found this place down an alley way and walked up the old-school flight of stairs. Upon first glance I notice how earthy and bright the place was. The tables and area in general appeared really clean. As one artist was busy applying ink on someone, I was greeted by Ida who seemed helpful in every way. We talked about my design and prices ($100-150 nzd / per hour), and even set up an appointment for the next day. I was told to meet one of their main artist at her newer location on 75 Queen St. It was only a few stores down, along the same block. The location had only been open for about three months now. I showed up for my appointment and meet up with Jay. I thought I had made a mistake because I totally forgot I was on blood thinners. In other words, my blood won't clot. Jay and I discussed my situation, but both he and Ida showed concern and explained all the risks. I told him to test out and old tattoo of mine by shading it to see how bad I bleed. Well, things tested out well and I proceeded with getting the design I wanted. Now, the new shop in general was also clean in my opinion. Only they're still under construction down in the lower floor and toilet area. But the main floor was set up nicely. Ida even has the place set up for clients to do a pedicure in the corner, waxing in a private room, and even piercings. She basically has a beauty salon next door that shares the tattoo/piercing shop. It wasn't a big deal to me, as I just wanted to get my ink done. So, bottom line, I paid approximately $360 usd for work that lasted four and a half hours. Not bad at all, and I love the new ink I've got all around my calf. I'm looking for blemishes, but I'll have to wait until it fully heals. Thus far, the outline and shading look clean! Jay is one excellent artist! He took his time in helping me with my design, and was patient with me from beginning until end. Even when I changed my design halfway through, he was cool with it. If you're looking for a shop to get a tat done right, give this place a try! Talk to Ida.

AMAZING!!! How I found them: I knew I wanted to get a tattoo to remember this amazing trip that I had embarked on. I yelped and came across this tattoo shop. They had a five star rating and other tourist had spoken highly of them. Upon arrival: I made it up the steps and was greeted with a friendly smile and hello. The gentleman asked me what kind of tattoo and I explained I wasn't sure but wanted something to remember the trip by. He said they had a picture book of previous work but that I could also look some up online that I might like. I had just bought souvenirs downstairs and remembered I really liked the silver fern. It would be small, cute and carry a lot of meaning. I showed them what size and black/white then they quoted me $140NZ ($119US). They only accept cash so they directed me to an atm. Preparation: I discussed my tattoo with Jeri my tattoo artist. He sketched it up then asked where I would like it. We tried it out on a few spots then chose the side upper rib area. I do already have 3 other tattoos in painful areas of the body so I went for it. The tattoo shop was very clean, the tattoo area was very clean, all tools were covered in plastic and taken out of new packages which is very important. He got the stencil on and it was time to get started. Tattoo time: I layed down and put my headphones in. He let me know we were starting. Wooooo the side is painful lol. I chewed gum, blasted my music and kept breathing. Jeri really made sure I was comfortable the entire time. He was very attentive to detail and really took his time. He made sure to check it out from different angles to make sure the lines and shading were perfect. As I sat there thinking of positive things to distract myself from the pain I thought about my family. When he said I was done I asked if he didn't mind adding 3 dots underneath the last pedal to signify my mom, brother and myself. When we finished Jeri gave me instructions on what to do and we all chatted a little about California then I was on my way to meet up with my group. I would highly recommend this place for a tattoo local or tourist. Thank you Jeri and everyone at the shop. Cheers till the next time I come back and get another one!

Was visiting Auckland on Holiday and decided to take a permanent souvenir home. I walked into the shop and Patrick was there to help! Everyone at the shop was so nice. The experience was so chill and smooth I was in and out before I knew it! Definitely coming back to NZ and getting more tattoos here :) thanks Patrick!

Barber & Tattoo Studio is close by my work so I though I'd give them a try instead of the place up the road which was always busy. I've not stopped coming back. Willy is the barber i see to but the owner also cuts. Willy's service is great. He's friendly and chatty and takes massive pride in his work. Never before have I had such service. On my first visit Willy asked me "Can i shape your beard"? "Sure" I said and he proceeded to shave it carefully with a cutthroat razor and an awesome smelling shave gel. Suddenly I had a new look and came out feeling pampered. People comment every time Willy has done his magic. Many of my friends and colleagues now come here too. The process could not have gone better. I live in the United States, and I'm already trying to figure out how to come back to Auckland to get more work done at the Tattooed Heart.
