Sometimes these tattoo shops can be pretty intimidating for a college student, but the staff was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome right away, answering any questions we had. I booked an appointment that night and went back two days later to get it. My artist was Sam. He made the process super fast and easy and I seriously didn't feel any pain. For those wondering about pricing, I'm sure it varies, but mine cost $75 (I got "opportunities." in typewriter font on my left arm and it's about 5 in. long), which I think is a pretty good deal. When I get another, I'll definitely be coming back to this shop. Great staff. Great work. Great price.

He proceeded to draw what he wanted which was a deviation from the design I presented. My tattoo is out of proportion and I hate it. I am remiss for not having spoken up. I should have insisted my design be transferred instead of allowing the freehand drawing. I have never left a tattoo shop (12 separate tattoos) without my new tattoo being covered, this tattoo shop handed me a paper towel! This is my fault and the purpose of this post is to warn others. I have no idea what it costs to have this removed but it is coming off.

I could feel it was time to make this happen, so I started perusing artists in the area and found Virtu's website. I saw a photo of an ancient symbol that I have been carrying around for those same 15 years, in the hopes of using it in my tattoo vision. Clearly, I was being "called" to the shop. I walked in just hoping to have a consultation, but then I met Larry. He's an award-winning artist with an AMAZING talent (just look at the artwork he produces daily and on a whim). We vibed immediately and I knew I had found my artist and scheduled time right away (this guy is going to be BUSY)! Over the next week I shared my vision and some images I wanted to use; either as referential artwork or as inspiration to this amazing artist. When we finally met for my session with Larry, I have NEVER felt more "heard," as the pictures in my head started to take actual shape before my eyes under the expertise of Larry's talented hands. Because he's such a good listener, he was able to take what was in my head and physically produce it! He's truly & amazingly gifted!!! We tweaked it, shaped it as we went, and I've never felt more confident that his free-hand was exactly what this tattoo required. It was a long and intense session but the result left me speechless... and still does. I can't look at my tattoo without losing the words to describe how absolutely ecstatic I am over this incredible design and Larry's REMARKABLE talent!!! It's a sometimes fearful experience to commit one's flesh to an artist's interpretation... but with Larry, you're going to feel heard, watch your vision become reality and have a TRUE artist become a part of your physical being until you leave this Earth. Seriously, any time I see someone with a gorgeous vibrant tattoo in the Norman/OKC area, they say that got it from Dave Bruehl (visit his Myspace page or website for examples of his work). Dave took my rough idea and turned it into something remarkable, beyond all my expectations. In my opinion, he's at his best when you don't turn him into a human Xerox machine- he's a great artist so let him come up with a unique design for you. The shop itself is very clean, surprisingly bright, and pleasantly decorated- it doesn't look like a place to have afternoon tea but it doesn't look like Rob Zombie walked in and exploded either (which is a refreshing change).
