Do NOT get pierced here. My sister got her first lobes done and because the only piercer they have knew she did not know anything about being properly pierced, he decided to scam her. He pierced her with eyebrow jewelry! If you are not familiar with the difference, eyebrow jewelry is long and curved. Lobes should be pierced with a straight bar and an average length post. Using the wrong jewelry, specifically CURVED and LONG jewelry, will really mess your piercing up when trying to heal it. (Note: when my mom asked to see the jewelry, he said they are just diamond studs and laughed at her for asking). For the next week we consistently called Ink Couture and asked to speak to him, and he was conveniently never available. The people on the phone told us the curve was normal and the extra long post was to help the jewelry move around and make it easier to clean. Not true! An extra long post like for an eyebrow will cause bacteria to get into the wound when you move the jewelry in and out, and the curve will make the piercing heal curved which is a huge issue if you get anything with cartilage pierced. They also sell their own soap which is also bad for cleaning a piercing. You should only use sterile solution like NeilMed Piercing Aftercare. It was so disappointing to hear this from my family after I heard good things about Ink Couture. They did not remember his name, but he had multiple piercings all along his eyebrow (ironic, right). 0/10 DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE!!! read more

Got this piece done today by Seven and it's better than the original idea I had of just the wolf. Seven gave his honest and professional opinion on what would work and what wouldn't and ended up helping me create an image that is just phenomenal and original. He was fairly quick while taking the time he needed to perfect the piece. This was my first tattoo and if I choose to do another one I now would not trust anyone else to work on me although I am confident that the other artists at IC are just as good! I recommend this place if you want a bad tattoo and bad service. The artist do not listen to what the customer wants and doesn't take the time to really understand what the customer wants. The artist cares more about getting their money and that's it. Very clean & courteous employees. The tattoo artists are great. The artist that did my tattoo is Jayvo Scott. He might be there only 1 day a month and he's worth the wait. Jayvo took time to ask me what I wanted and colors that I love. It's not your typical colored butterfly. There was also a consultation meeting before I went to my tattoo appointment. So I'm giving this shop 3 stars based on the consult I had (not their work as I decided not to get tattooed here). I made an appointment to meet with an artist who I wanted to cover up a tattoo for me. When I arrived, I was greeted with a friendly hello and then met with another guy who was not the artist for the consult I thought I would be meeting with. I think he's the office manager, not even a tattoo artist. I could not understand why I was meeting with someone who wasn't going to tattoo me but was speaking on his behalf? I found that to be very strange. The guy who helped me was very nice and friendly but I am sorry I'm not comfortable speaking with someone who isn't going to tattoo me but relay the info to the artist, no thanks. I decided not to book with this shop and found another with whom I met the artist and made a plan, which in my opinion was much more comforting and put me at ease as I allow someone to use a needle on me. This was very impersonal and I wouldn't get tattooed in any shop that does this. EDITED- to reply to the shop, whom replied below back to me. I understand you're very busy and have booked up artists, but it's impersonal point blank. I met with an artist, who is tattooing me next month and is actually famous because of her following, who she has tattooed and her appearances on TV, and yet she still took time to consult with me for almost an hour. That is the reason I booked with her- not because she is a famous tattoo artist but because she took the time to understand what I was looking for and share her knowledge with me, too. This place was very clean and aesthetically pleasing. I got my piercing from a guy named Seven. He was very talented and knew what he was doing. All the instruments used were sterile and clean. The only downside I have is that he did not go over aftercare piercing instructions like most places do!!! He just said "there ya go, looks good." I found that a bit odd. Also, they charge $10 for using a credit/debit card for payment. There is an ATM in the back that charges $3 to pull out cash. Overall, really good experience. If your looking for your piercer to be overly outgoing this place isn't for you. But if you just want something pierced and done well with experience I would highly recommend! read more

The owner frank Russo is a scum bag. My friend and I both got piercings done by him , which I doubt he even has a certification for, and he pierced my ear COMPLETELY wrong and I could've torn my ear open. For my friend he pierced her w a straight needle and then put curved jewelry in it like an asshole. When I called him to complain and ask for a refund , all he offered was to come in and he would put tea tree oil on it , which would dry it out and only helps if you a keloid. Later on that day I went in to talk to him because I was very pissed off and he only offered me a store credit until I threatened him with a lawyer , he then gave my friend and I checks THAT BOUNCED when we tried to cash them. So overall this place can suck my dick and I do not recommend them to anyone. read more

My brother came here to get two small tattoos on his right arm. The tattoo artist greeted us and went over what he understood my brother wanted as a tattoo. You can immediately tell he was asking all the right questions to make sure he got the right size, location and angle. The professionalism of this place is noticeable. Got 2 piercings was supposed to be 3 about a 2 weeks ago ... horrible the piercer was very rough and rude. Did not even introduce himself and explain what was going to go on later on found out his name is "seven". literally just sat me on the chair and did my cartilage first and did my conch without warning .. I was supposed to get 3 piercings but he just did 2 wonder why I'm not sure.. he was aware I wanted 2 cartilage and 1 conch yet I only got 1 cartilage and a conch ... honestly I'm glad he didn't pierce a third one because the experience was just horrible. Even worst was the jewelry, it was very cheap and long ( wasn't even meant for a conch piercings , I found that out later by multiple people and a REAL piercer). NEVER again ! Had a tattoo done by an artist in this shop who said if there was anything that needed to be touched up he would for free after it healed.Went back to get a small touch up of a wobbly line and a line he forgot from the original design and he was extremely rude and told me that he wouldn't do it (after I just drove two hours from eastern Long Island). I contacted the owner who seemed to be concerned about how I was treated he said he would look into it and get back to me the next day. Never heard back from him after that. Went to another shop they not only fixed the lines but they redid the shading and it came out 1000 times better. I don't want to bash any of the other artists at this location because I'm not sure how they are but sixx and the owner frank have left me with a bad taste for this place and how they treat their customers. And frank as per your comment below I never spoke to you on the phone and never ever said I would never drive out there again. Which to find out it wasn't . Ended up getting a ton of medical care because the artist who worked their at the time somehow passed me a staph infection & if it wasn't for me getting it checked ASAP it would have moved onto the flesh eating virus . Not only is this shop run by pure professionals, it's absolutely immaculate, and the artists are all top notch, wonderfully talented individuals that do right by their clients. In November I had a gorgeous one of a kind piece of art done by Johnny and to say that I was pleased is an extreme understatement. I have since had many friends get inked here and all have been more than pleased as well. Friday, I am going to have a very special portrait done and can't wait. So ultimately I ended up not getting any work done which was not what I planned, but I am a gal who accepts when things aren't meant to be: "Que sera, sera". I must say that the first time I went to Ink Couture the place is gorgeous, well-lit, clean (everything in their shines and sparkles), comfortable indoor temperature, well designed with comfy couches to sit on in the waiting area while you check out their merchandise. Plus their signature motorcycle sits indoors which adds to its originality. Real top-notch place unlike most tattoo places that are dark, gothic and dismal. They even send you confirmation text messages reminding of your appointments and even if you want to confirm it! This place was a superb recommendation from my colleague. Anywho, upon even entering the neighborhood, which I am not from, I felt literally like the elephant that entered the room, for the obvious reason of being the only Nubian in the place. I was definitely "not in Kansas anymore."HOWEVER, I must commend Mr. Russo for his supreme professionalism and willingness to do business. As I walked in, he shook my hand, introducing himself, and taking me to get my consultation. (I originally thought I was going to meet my requested artist which was Drew but I guess speaking with the owner is the way they do things there, which made sense). He sat, did research on the computer with me to help me with a design and gave me a quote. Also, due to the fact that I am a NYC DOE employee I was entitled to a discount. What? Cool! So during the consultation, he let me know how long the tat should take and that his artist could bang it out in one sitting, 5 hours max. I told him that I would need to think about it and thanked him for his time. He smiled shook my hand again, and said "Don't go anywhere else for a tattoo. We have quality here." True indeed. I checked out Drew's online work before coming through so I knew what he said was true. Plus I saw the work done on my co-worker which led me to there in the first place. Fast forward 5 to August, I got the money together came back, met with a manager this time to who was very professional, friendly, maintained eye-contact with me and made me feel comfortable. (But that's my story. Nevertheless. I would recommend this place. All-in-all, I would say that they do good business there. read more

I've been meaning to review this place since I got my tattoo this past August. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon because I basically woke up that morning and decided I wanted another tattoo. I had an idea in mind (in memory of my Dad) and hoped I could get in without an appointment. First impressions: This place is immaculate. Definitely not a dingy, creepy tattoo parlor. The front desk staff was very welcoming. They were able to accommodate me for an appointment later that day. Done! I was fortunate enough to book an appointment with L.A Ink's Amy Nicoletto. She sat with me and I showed her some pics of ideas I had for my tattoo. She got me and drew a stencil of exactly what I wanted (first try). I knew I had made the right decision. The tattoo was small and on the nape of my neck. It took about an hour. She continued to make conversation and check in during the process make sure I was OK. I left with a gorgeous tattoo and extremely happy. Amy is a guest artist that is usually there once a month. I highly recommend her and Ink Couture!!! read more

I went in on tuesday to get a piercing and made it extremely clear that I am allergic to nickel and that if i was going to get the piercing it had to be legit bc i would have a reaction. i was doing two upper lobe piercings and decided on a whim to do my belly button too. The first red flag was that they pierced me right out in the open where they were tattooing people. I let it slide bc i know every place is different when it comes to piercings and i just assumed it'd be legit since they're amazing and reliable with tattoos. As the guy ( who's name i don't know bc he never introduced himself ) was getting set up i mentioned my allergy again and was assured it was fine. my friend was there to witness everything. he pierces my ears everything's fine whatever. then i decided my belly button would be a cute idea. they didn't sterilize the jewelry. they just poured alcohol on it to sterilize it which i know isn't the way to do it bc i've had my conch and cartilage pierced in the city and they use a machine to sterilize. when i got home i immediately noticed some bruising but i brushed it off. later in the day i was in excruciating pain and couldn't figure out why i was in so much pain. I went yesterday to a different shop with a well known piercer to look at it. he explained that since they didn't do an anatomy check they wouldn't have known that i had a deep belly button and could only have a floating navel piercing. he took the jewelry i was given out and said it was 100% costume jewelry. I went home and thought Nothing of my lobe piercing because what could happen to a lobe piercing? Boy was I wrong! Last night around 3 AM I was finding black crust all over my bed and in my hair I chalked it up to being a bath bomb I had a used but something made me check my ear. My ear lobe turned purple and there were black flakes in it. so i assumed the piercing had nickel in it too my friend helped me get it out and it absolutely looked fake. Ink Couture is amazing for tattoos they've done every piece i have on me but for piercings I'd say find another place. They either need to use better sterilizing techniques and top notch jewelry or stop piercing altogether. read more

One of my greatest regrets in life is deciding to get a tattoo at Ink Couture. Now I have a travesty on me FOR LIFE as well as a bad taste in my mouth from the creepy tattoo "artist" who did it. It's a fairly large hip/side piece and I seriously walked out half way through. I was getting extremely annoyed with the artist constantly trying to flirt with me, and when I got up for a break and really looked at it I was horrified, the lines were so choppy and thickened to try to hide mistakes (which weren't hid, just MORE mistakes). Now I'm going to an artist in Pennsylvania to try to finish/fix it. read more

Edit: The artist which my original review was about is no longer employed at said shop. I am altering my review in response to the interactions I have had with the owner of the shop, which can be seen in the commentary below. -- Original Review: My review is not a review of the location itself, which is very clean, but of one of the artists that works there, which is why I gave it two stars - the artist himself I would give absolutely zero. As he was working on my piece, there were several times when I attempted to convey my concerns, which he brushed off. The original stencil he did was appropriate, but when he completed the piece, he had botched up some of the lines, making legs bend in strange directions - instead of acknowledging this, he said he did it 'as part of the design'. The colors he selected healed incredibly poorly (I have had other color work done and they all healed up just fine), and fell out within only a few months. He also took almost seven hours to get the work done. When I looked at his Instagram later, there were photos of him smoking controlled substances - he had been high the vast majority of the time he was working on me! The finished piece was so crappy and fell out so bad that I ended up having to get the entire thing redone - it looks a ton better, and took the guy less than three hours. I don't know about any of the other artists there, but stay away from the 'inkmaster' (who didn't even come close to winning) Mark. RE FRANK R.: At the time, Mark Matthews was actively and visibly employed at your parlor, and as such I feel that his actions and performance reflect on the shop. In addition, after he did my tattoo I called and spoke with you about what happened, only to be brushed off. I was also told that you would follow up with me after you spoke with him about if, which you did not. If your artist is going to conduct illegal activities (whether it is legal in the state or not, it was still a federal crime to smoke, and a huge no-no to tattoo while high) that are public (in this case Instagram), that becomes the shop owner's responsibility to manage. I am glad that he is not representing you any longer, and hope that his actions with me are not typical of what he did while employed there. RE: You still did not follow up or say anything about how you felt regarding this. You may not be able to control what an artist does while guest spotting, but you can certainly discuss how they conduct themselves regarding the impact their actions have on the way your business is viewed. These images were posted on IG, as I said, which is incredibly public. For your response as a shop owner to be to brush off and then ignore someone who had a bad experience with someone actively representing your shop shows no accountability on your part as well as a complete lack of customer service. When I got my first tattoo I wanted to go somewhere I could really trust, because I have really high expectations and if something isn't perfect I'm not going to like it. After a lot of research I found Brooklyn Payne here and he is a tattoo alstar, sadly he passed away recently. I wanted someone with enough skill to finish my half sleeve. Drew picked it up right where Brooklyn left off and did an amazing job. He is a great guy and really fun to talk to, the 4 hour tattoo went by so fast because it felt like I was hanging out with a friend. If you're thinking about this place, look for Drew. The shop as a whole may be a bit more than your average shop but the work they put out is amazing. And if you're a city employee they'll give you 25% off your total. Great place, wouldn't go anywhere else and I have a 1:30-2 hour trip to get here. read more
