I went this week to try and open one at this location. It seemed like a nice place at first, aesthetically pleasing and a helpful staff waiting at a podium when you entered to assist you. I asked the nice lady if I could set up an account with their institution. I explained I had all the needed paperwork and even had a large sum on money I wished to deposit right away. I was then asked if I had an appointment. Now, I know the Dutch government is big into the whole 'appointment' thing and you have to call ahead before you go to ANY government office, else they will not speak to you. This is the first time I have had a private company do this to me sure. So I was like no, I thought you were a bank and I could just, you know, come in with a large wad of money and open an account if I had the proper paperwork. Nope! She told me I would have to go home and ring them to set up an appointment, then drive back down and meet with one of their advisers. I was like, seriously? I show up here, you have no one else here, there are three employees sitting down over there and you are telling me to go home and ring you then drive back down here else you will not even speak to me about opening an account? Yes, she says.
Needless to say I am now an ING customer. ;)
