Absolutely amazing job done by Shauna... now I hope my regular shop doesn't see this review because I am surely not cheating on them... I swear I was just here with a friend and so happened the tattoo gun fell onto my alarm for an hour and a half and tattooed me I promise it was not what it looked like... This is my girlfriends regular tattoo artist and we were going to get some matching tattoos, well matching themed I'm not making... Ok well I wanted a 'salt and peper' tape tattoo and I saw this cute needlepoint they gave me this idea... When I showed her she loved the beer so I decided to split up my two part tattoo and one for each of us... Now we gave the artist a very vague idea of what we wanted and based on each of our opposing style tattoos we each got something quite different and yet very much of the same everything went great shop was clean and follow protocols tattoo is healing up very nicely and everything is looking really great read more

Was getting my first tattoo and I am so happy I came here! I had Cristina, she is the most kind and thoughtful person ever. I was nervous because it was my first tattoo but she was so understanding and walked me through everything. It was also clear she knew what she was doing and made sure everything was clean and sanitary. Overall an amazing experience and I will be coming back! Highly highly recommend Cristina :) read more

I have a lot of friends that have gotten work here and I was super excited to come check out their work. I have a sleeve already and a lot of other work on my body, so I'm not a new person to the tattoo world. However, we came here at 5:20 on a Tuesday night when they are open till 7. We sat in peak Portland traffic, in pouring rain, just to walk in to an empty shop and just one lady working. We walk in to her on the phone. We politely wait for her to finish her conversation and then I ask if they have available walk-ins right now. I just need to get a quick small piece that would probably take a quick 15 minutes MAX. At first, my friend and I thought she was about to make a joke about being slammed(seeing how it was empty) but instead she went on to tell us that she was about to close the shop. It's was 5:20PM. After she said that, we told her it was just a little quick tattoo, and then she proceeded to tell us it was a 100 minimum. But the way she told us that, was in the tone of trying to use it as a deterrent so we would want to leave. In the end, we left and went somewhere else. Wouldn't you WANT to make money? Would've been easy and quick cash for ten minutes of work. The service and attitude was enough for me to never step back in. read more

Eric came highly recommended and I pass that recommendation onto you. Comfortable, clean and relaxed environment. Go get inked!

I first decided to get a tattoo over three years ago, and finally settled on a design and placement about a year later. My first tattoo, which I got on my 21st birthday (over two years ago now) was an anchor on my left forearm, mirroring my grandfather's old-school military ink. I made an appointment with Miss Mikki and went in, alone and apprehensive, to finally get inked. Mikki was extremely encouraging and friendly and made my terrified, tattoo virgin self feel welcome and comfortable. She came up with a simple, lovely old-fashioned design and executed it quickly and skillfully. I thought I had told her that I only wanted an outline, but I was surprised to find that she had shaded the design - and I loved it! Over two years later, the ink still looks brand new and I get compliments on it near daily. This past July, I went back to Infinity for another tattoo, a small Hindu phrase on my ankle. (I know that Infinity is primarily a collaborative studio, but there was no one else I wanted to trust with the job.) I made an appointment with Sean W and brought a friend. This experience was the opposite of my first tattoo session. Sean seemed almost offended that I brought a friend and near insulted that I wanted something so small and simple and not collaborative. He was quick, and the work nearly painless, but in the end he charged me $100 for 15 minutes of work. I know Infinity is quality and you get what you pay for, but this was just excessive. As much as I loved my first tattoo and the experience of it, I was rather disappointed with the quality and attitude of the second visit. read more

I got tattooed by Cody and my daughter, 19, got her tattoo from Jessica. We felt welcomed from the moment we walked in, not only from the artists that we were there to see but from every artist there and their customers too. I was pleased with the quality of the work done and the artwork itself and mostly with how well we were treated read more

Being easily addicted to anything I love, and loving pretty much anything that doesn't make me swear (in a bad way, as opposed to really good emphatic happy swearing), I made myself wait 20 years after wanting my first tattoo to actually get my first tattoo. And now I know that I was right, because had I gotten my first tattoo at 15, and had Infinity Tattoo been around then? I would be totally covered. I'm in love, and I'm addicted. Just like that. I love the beautiful artwork that I have the pleasure of living with forever, I loved the experience, I felt so comfortable and relaxed in the beautiful space, and I will most definitely be back here for my second tattoo. Thanks for an amazing experience! read more

My artist was Eric Quale. This place is easy to get to, clean inside. I enjoyed Eric he was a pleasure to work with and I enjoyed his company! He took an existing photo that my lovely wife had taken and transposed that onto my left arm. This was a very positive experience. I would recommend working with Eric. My only negative is Eric is not quick to respond to communications, and he was late to my appointment due to transportation issues. I held out for him because he has a history of portrait tattoos and came recommended by another artist. read more

I am so happy with my latest Dean piece. It's hard to believe it all started with a terrible MS Paint picture of a tortoise in a hula skirt playing the ukulele that I had scribbled out at work and emailed off to him. It's great that he has a sense of humor! This is my third "sweet tat" by Dean. He is super talented, creative, and can draw. That means, he'll take the ideas in my brain, make it look good, then expertly transfer that to my skin in permanent form. He and the couple other awesome guys that were there are just cool to talk to too. Being in good company, listening to good music, making jokes, telling stories, and having Dean tap his foot like he's playing the drums really helps pass three hours. My husband and I are already having talks about who gets to see Dean next. read more

Where do I start with this place? I had called on a saturday morning about a tattoo idea I have had for months. Asked if there was any way I could get in on that day, because well...I wanted a tattoo on 01/02/2010...it's the same number forwards and in reverse...ANYWAY, called and the receptionist(forgot her name) said she would give me a call if they had any openings. Thus I began a rabid search for other places to get into; I had found an available artist at another parlor but wasn't sold on his portfolio online and cancelled. BUT THEN!! I got a call from Infinity and was told that Rich Cuellar would be available at 2. So 2 o'clock it was!! I went in with some scripts that I had found online but was told that they were too small. So Rich worked his magic and found me some AMAZING fonts to choose from and helped me cut down my quote so that it could fit on my inner bicep. Rich's craft is impeccable. He's fast, but efficient and I have nothing but praises for this man!! And I never felt out of place here. I have had some bad experiences with the holier than thou mentality, just because I wasn't covered with ink. This being my first tattoo, I was definitely up for that. But the environment is chill. Props to the family at Infinity, I'll be going back if I ever decide on another tattoo! read more

I often suffer buyer's remorse. That car I bought? Should have gotten an all-wheel drive. My first house? Should have waited until housing prices went down a little more. That tuna sandwich? I can't say enough positive things about the experiences I've had at Infinity! I wanted to see Paul Zenk since I'd heard such great things about him from folks all over town. I had an idea of what images I wanted, but couldn't quite picture how it should look. Paul was so helpful in incorporating the components I wanted, and tying it all together in a beautiful way. This tattoo is enormously important to me as it symbolizes my family and my recently deceased father. Paul recognized the significance to me and talked with me a lot about my family and what each item meant. I not only felt completely comfortable in Paul's artistic hands, but also felt very supported while navigating an emotional process. My tattoo was done over two sessions, so I had plenty of time to get a feel for the shop and the other professionals. This is clearly a group of talented and dedicated artists who are serious about their work, but are also able to have fun and promote a fun and comfortable environment. Paul has helped me to plan my next ink installments, and I'm excited to see him in a couple weeks to keep my tattoo adventure going! Tattoos are forever, so you must do your research. I moved to Portland about five years ago and went looking for a new tattoo artist. I don't remember where all I researched but I did quite a bit of it and hit upon Paul Zenk at Infinity as the artist to see. My first piece by Paul was in 2010, a large half sleeve that was done over five or six sittings. I've been back a number of times since, getting another medium-sized piece on the same arm and a full sleeve on the other side. It's hard to say exactly how many sessions I've had with Paul total but it's been at least a dozen, the most recent being just last week (April 2014). All the work Paul has done for me has been fantastic. His color work is top notch, he pays close attention to detail, and he's always up for a challenging piece. He's fast too, which is important. I've only had work from Paul, but I feel pretty good about vouching for any of the other artists in the studio. I've seen tons of their work, both in the photo albums and in person when I've been there, and they're all both talented and personable. Infinity isn't the cheapest shop in Portland, but you know what they say about cheap tattoos (really, don't do it). They're worth it. read more

I have 6 relatively large tattoos from 5 different artists (at different studios), and I've never had an artist work with me on a design as well as Shashonna did. She designed a BEAUTIFUL tattoo for me that was precisely what I described to her, and throughout the entire first session (about 4.5 hours) she asked me how I wanted each little detail, and then did precisely what I said. She is a fantastic artist and has a great eye for what will look good, and I was very pleased by her ability to use that to give me insight on what would work well and then flawlessly execute everything I asked for. She confirmed things with me that I never would have thought to specify when describing what I wanted, and I was very impressed by her willingness to draw/redraw small details of the design on me until they were just how I liked them. As a result, there is nothing I don't love about how my piece turned out. I definitely recommend her for custom pieces. It's still missing highlights, but here is a picture from our first session for reference (trying my best to show how it wraps around). Text was done by a different artist. read more

Got a tattoo here in May of this year with Dean. Originally wanted to get it done by Amanda but when I contacted them via email she told me she wasn't tattooing due to hand troubles. She gladly directed me towards her colleagues though if I still decided to stick with the shop. I did because this seemed like a reputable shop with all of these yelp reviews and the portfolios of each of the artists here are all outstanding. My tattoo was pretty simple anyways. Dean is a cool guy. I requested that my tattoo should include specific colors and he did just that. The overall experience was a breeze. Impressed by the customer service and the quality of their work, my friend booked an appointment for the next day to get his first tattoo. We were only in Portland for a weekend, so might as well. His experience went great as well. He didn't get Dean to do his tattoo but another gentleman did it. Didn't get his name but he was cool. read more

I went to Sean Wright after a really bad experience with another local shop. I spent over $700 for a poorly executed cover up of an old tribal band. After two sessions and laying out a significant chunk of money, I was really unhappy with the ink and wasn't sure it could be fixed. Sean did an amazing job of working with the mess I had on my arm and making it into an amazing piece of art. The major difference between Sean and the first shop was artistic vision and composition. Sean didn't just take the elements I wanted and ink them like a graphic designer, he saw the composition as a work of art and helped me to see what was needed to make my idea work and flow. I will definitely be going back for my next ink and highly recommend his work. Check out my before and after pictures. read more

There are very few people in the world who can convince me to drop trou in front of them after having known them for all of ten minutes or so. So far the list includes a Utilikilt sales rep, a very special piercer, and Sean at Infinity. I walked in a couple of weeks ago with a rather large text piece that I wanted to have done, but very few convictions in terms of details. Last night I arrived at 5:30 for my appointment and spent the next 45 minutes working on the exact font, spacing, and placement. Sean was great about making my text piece unique and making sure that the placement worked with my body -- the placement that meant me standing in the middle of the (incredibly beautifully decorated) shop with one butt cheek hanging out and a less-than-appropriate angling of my jeans over my pelvis. Three hours of pain and ass-baring later, I'm absolutely ecstatic with my piece and thankful to the staff who didn't bat an eye when I walked past them half-naked from the waist down in order to examine the placement in their full-length mirror. Oh, and these people are actually nice! Not once did I feel like an idiot, as I have in many other shops (and social situations.. personal situations.. job interviews.. you name it). Professional, clean, beautiful space and fantastic artists. Make sure you check out the portfolios for all the artists - there's some mind-blowing work in there. I know where I'll be heading for my elusive half sleeve (although I hear they're booked out 8+ months in advance). read more

Mixed experience. Pros: Went in to get a set of 3 bands around my forearm and a couple of words on my wrists. Rich's work was superb, he has great technical skill and I've been complimented by various artists I've run into regarding how well he was able to pull it off. He was also very friendly and professional throughout the tattooing process and both invited me into conversation and left me alone to enjoy the endorphins when I was more spaced out. Cons: Original quote for the work was $250. When it came time to pay, the bill was $400. Considerable difference and not something I was expecting. This meant that I wasn't able to tip him (big no-no I'm aware). I understand that tips are a part of the business and that things sometimes cost more BUT...it was a LOT more. Unfortunately I was too shocked in the moment to explain my plans to make up for it on the other end. I decided to save up and tip when I went in to have the piece touched up. However, when I showed up a couple months later to have the touch up done, he'd double booked himself during my time, was terse with me and after taking a look, told me that he didn't feel the piece needed to be touched up and sent me on my way. I have no doubt that the guy didn't want me in his chair because I hadn't been able to tip due to the surprise extra $150 I paid the last time. It's a great shop that I'm glad to have in my neighborhood. Unfortunately, it's not a place I feel welcome at anymore. read more

It's tough to write a review of your first anything. It's not just the novelty or the lack of familiarity with the thing. It's the fact that most firsts, from first kisses to first children, stir up all sorts of emotional responses, but rarely do they provoke the one known as objective. Fortunately, this is not a review of my first baby-having since that hasn't transpired, much to the joy of all Portland bartenders. All the same, despite no rugrat to my name yet, I'm still in love with my first here. In this instance, it's my first tattoo. Maybe I'd feel that way regardless of the place where I got the tattoo, but I'm sure it helped that the experience happened at Infinity Tattoo. I've been present when other people have gotten tattooed, but those experiences were long ago enough and too varied in time and place to compare them fairly. So I went into Infinity with no expectations and with as much of the legwork done that I could do on my end. I displayed a printed copy of the words I wanted, negotiated an appointment time with Sean, and quietly bid adieu to the blankness of my left shoulder. Sean explained that my tattoo is small and relatively easy to finish, which helped me book a date less than a month in advance. It's different depending on the artist you hope to work on you and the kind of work you have in mind, I'm told. The afternoon of the deed, I blasted 80s music out of the car stereo on the way to St. Johns. I responded to a friend's text inquiry, "So are you excited?" with "Define excited." I had planned to take a shot of whiskey before heading into the appointment, but abstained due to the whole blood-clotting-when-you-drink-plus-nobody-likes-lushy-breath issue. Turns out, whiskey wasn't necessary. Sean presided over the whole session with an ease that comes from experience working with all forms of freaks. The studio was full of natural light as he cracked wise, kindly pointing out when my nerves made me think that the city of Omaha is located in Oklahoma (where Sean's originally from), and allowed The Ter to sit nearby. All my questions, whether they were about the pain or about where to get some good friggin' Thai food in the neighborhood, were met receptively. And not quite thirty minutes after I took a seat, I left with something that I'd never had before and would never be without. Sean gave clear instructions on how to care for the new addition to my body. Over a week later, I'm still at the point when I can't look at my reflection without a "Heeeeeeey!" Sean and Infinity deserve all the praise they've received in the Yelp world and in the Portland community at large. Maybe that's not the most objective assessment, but when you're discussing tattoos, you're talking about something that is the opposite of detached. read more

I got a tattoo here almost 4 years ago. Everytime I consider posting about the experience, I choose not to because time has passed and I had hoped mine was a one off experience. But someone today asked for a recommendation, and I quite purposefully wanted them to avoid this place, so I looked it up. I was saddened to realize it was not just my experience. 4 years ago i wanted a commemorative tattoo. I looked up yelp ratings, this was the best and Sean was the best, so I booked the appointment plenty of time out. I had a very specific design I wanted, which I forwarded to Sean well ahead of my appointment, including why i wanted the tattoo. I didn't need an estimate, I was happy to pay any amount. I showed up at my appointed time, and Sean was.... well he was a jerk. He told me that my design couldn't be where I wanted (inner ankle, behind ankle bone) and couldn't be the design i'd chosen (which was done in illustrator, wasn't just some sketch). But because it was on the anniversary of the day i wanted to commemorate, and because I was embarrassed, I stayed. I let Sean redraw the letters and tell em where to put the tattoo. And then i prepared for what I assumed would be a few hours. It took 20 minutes. it took 20 minutes because everyone was ordering lunch and Sean wanted to eat. I offered to wait until after lunch, but he kept saying it was fine. I didn't utter a word, I stayed completely still, I did not complain. it wasn't my first tattoo and I was not a pain about it. The tattoo is not remotely close to the drawing, which was a cartoon, and could have been followed line by line. No reason NOT to be followed line by line. I hate the lettering. The color didn't stick because he basically created scar tissue. I had another artist in Arizona fix the tattoo as much as possible, but he and my dermatoligist agree he did a bad job technically (scar tissue). Everything he said could not be done, was easily done by other tattoo artists. Now, upon reading the other reviews, I realize.. its a girl thing. Perhaps he IS a great tattoo artist with men, but read the reviews- women complain. If so, the shop should not schedule him with women. I don't write this to make him feel bad.... but if hes going to be in service he should do a better job of the service part. read more

Here's what I got done: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=42350227&l=8e0162aa43&id=17223555 It's about half a year later, and it's still looking great. When I die, skin me and frame this damn artwork! Ms. Mikki is a visionary. She turned the crazy and overwhelming ideas in my head into the most beautiful back piece I have seen. The best part... it didn't look anything like what I was picturing, and yet I fell totally in love at first glance at a sketch. The shop is clean, beautiful to behold, and modern. The walls are covered with unique art work and the only flash on display is a collection of classic collectibles. Not somewhere you are going to stumble into, point at something, and declare with a drunken slur "I'll have that one." Ms. Mikki is professional, talented, experienced, and genuinely cares about her clients. You can tell she loves what she does by the intense cock of a head while examining the work in progress combined with a heartfelt giggle describing the parts of a design she just loves. I should have written this about four months ago, but I guess better now than never! It was my first tattoo experience. My friend had suggested to go to Amanda from Infinity, but since she's on sabbatical from tattooing I made an appointment with Sean Lanusse. Now, I was very particular with my tattoo... I'd had the design in mind for a couple of years and wanted it to be "perfect". He too in all my ideas, worked with me to give it real form, and the next time I came in (which was a week later) we modified and refined it. He was patient with my need for perfection, but did explain that no tattoo comes out perfect... Boy, was he wrong! Anyway, worked with me to get all the lettering right, etc. The actual experience: he made me feel very comfortable. Actually gave me a lollipop at the beginning for the sugar and cause I was nervous. The environment was nice, lots of joking around. The actual tattooing didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. Honestly, I was completely fine. I did start feeling a little woozy and pukish in the middle (as if I were drunk or something). He stopped, let me breathe, got me some juice (for the sugar). tl:dr : Great experience! Patient and comforting tattoo artist - Sean Lanusse read more
