Aldi is my go-to grocery store, and the new location in Tanyard Station is a BIG one…read more If you aren't familiar with Aldi, here is my one sentence summary: quality in-house brands for extremely cheap, occasional cool limited-time name-brand offerings, and a streamlined customer experience to keep things quick and affordable. This location is a great example of those tactics, and the overwhelming majority of the time you will not need to do comparison shopping to get the best prices; these ARE the best prices. So, why wouldn't everyone shop here? Simple: if you have fresh deli or seafood needs, fresh bakery needs, ONLY love name brands, or frequently purchase uncommon items, you will probably want to go elsewhere, or at least go to other places in addition to Aldi. For those of us who are fine with generics and are cool picking up pre-packaged containers of beef and the like, this place is the absolute best. An added bonus are their limited-time offers, which are often incredibly cheap despite being high quality. Example: they randomly had 120-thread-count pillows on sale when I went yesterday, and they were only $7.99 a piece. So for less than Walmart and at much higher quality than Walmart brands, I got to replace my old pillows. An unexpected deal is the best kind! That said, this location is relatively new, and they don't have as many unique limited-time offerings as the location in Huntington. I still stop by there sometimes just to see what uncommon stuff they have around. In summary, Aldi is a great place to shop, and if you're looking to trim your grocery bill, give this place (and its generic brands) a try. They're actually really good, even the beer! Overall: 4.5 stars ------ Pros: - Excellent in-house brands at unbeatable prices. - They keep things in stock well, and service is good. - Plenty of easy parking, and easy access right off Rt. 60. Cons: - Not as many limited-time offerings as the Huntington Aldi location. You might want to stop by there too if you like German foods and desserts.

You have to order early if you want your food hot and fresh. I'm a picky eater. Out of the things I…read moredo eat, half of them were very good. They deliver to Prestonsburg for $1.50! That's amazing all by itself. Worth trying!

There are friendly faces working, a small grocery, and a great butcher shop in the back. I used to go here because it was the only place to get Jones Soda. The last time I was there they didn't have it. I think they stopped carrying it, unfortunately. That's okay, though. The butcher shop in the back is great. The hamburger is particularly good, steaks are good, and their chicken salad is a favorite of me and my family. You only hear good things about the meats from here. There's a reason he's still in business all these years even with competitors like the nearby Sav-A-Lot and IGA. Kroger is only a 15 minute drive. I imagine most people do their grocery shopping elsewhere, at larger and cheaper grocery stores, but when you want some good meat, you come here. The small grocery section they've got here will get you by if you just need a few items and don't feel like making an extra stop. Check it out. Even if you don't need meat-- stop in just to see the place that has been in Martin for forever. Buy a pop and a candy bar or something. I don't think you'll regret it just because it's such a cool, quaint little shop.
