Each of the massage therapists is certified to perform safe prenatal massages. They have an easy online booking system (which I appreciated). I showed up and everyone was masked (March 2022) which I was thankful for, being pregnant. They offered me a glass of water while I completed the waivers and were very friendly! (I was the first appointment of the day.) I went into the room and the therapist thoroughly explained how the whole massage would go and made sure she knew exactly what I wanted her to focus on. The table was extremely comfortable for a pregnant person :) special pillow/mat with holes to accommodate your growing body and the ability to lay on my stomach (which I've missed!) and there was no pressure anywhere on my body. Just laying on the table was worth the whole massage! Lol halfway through I rolled over and she replaced the belly mat with a large wedge, so I didn't have to lay flat. The only thing I'd suggest would be having white noise or meditation music and or candles/aroma therapy. It was very quiet, but that would've put it over the top with comfort. Seriously an amazing way to start my day and I can't wait to go back!

The esthetician seemed to struggle setting up the machine and couldn't really answer my questions about the procedure. It was extremely painful, which I later found out was due to it not being on the right setting for my skin type. Fast forward 1 month and the spot is completely untouched - no change in color, size, or texture. My sister had the exact same spot on her skin too and got hers removed very easily and without pain at a clinic in Tennessee (using the exact same procedure) so I'm confident The Gillian Institute really did find a way to mess this up. I came in a second time to try again, because maybe this time they'll get the settings right and use enough cooling gel, and yet, here we are 3 weeks later and there's *STILL* no improvement to the spot. I've called other offices in Indiana asking about this laser and everyone tells me it should have been completely removed the first time; but I went to the Gillian Institute twice and it's not even faded in the slightest. For $xxx you should be able to remove a spot the size of a pen tip, especially when other clinics and dermatologists have repeatedly told me this was an easy one to treat. Now I have to spend another $xxx somewhere else doing the same procedure. I do not recommend you come here, whether it's for plastic surgery or skin treatments.

Having had a recent leg injury that led me into several sessions of wound care and physical…read moretherapy, I knew that it was time for me to take seriously my need to locate another primary care physician. After a false start visit with an IU Health physician I was referred to by the clinic, I decided that this was the perfect opportunity for me to explore my curiosity with Franciscan Health. I've always heard positive things about Franciscan Health and as someone with a ministry background, though not Catholic, I thought this type of setting might be a healing environment for me and my hope was to find a physician with whom I could build a trusting relationship so that I could avoid my usual avoidance of healthcare. Dr. Willfond is actually employed by the Franciscan Health organization and only recently joined the Cityway practice. Prior to this, I believe she was in a practice near County Line Road on the Marion/Johnson County border. As a sexual assault survivor, I will admit that whenever possible I try to use female providers, though it's certainly not always possible. For primary care, however, it was certainly my hope to find someone either close to my home or close to my work. The Cityway offices are right next to the Irsay YMCA just south of downtown. I work a little over a mile away. The building houses several Franciscan clinics including a lab, sports medicine, massage, radiology and others. The primary care offices are on the first floor. I'd considered one other Franciscan physician, but I got immediately turned off when the first words out of their mouths was "the doctor doesn't prescribe pain medication." Fortunately, I didn't have that experience with Dr. Willfond's office and that's definitely the last thing on my mind. While she's relatively new to this location, she did bring some patients with her and she did have about a 5-week wait for an initial appointment. As I had some urgency due to the leg injury, I definitely attempted to get in more quickly and actually was contacted and was able to get in 11 days earlier than my original appointment after a cancellation. I was impressed that they not only took note of my need, but they did the follow-up. The building does have paid parking, which is validated, but if you have mobility issues while driving you should know that you'll have to grab your parking ticket on the way in and you'll have to insert your ticket and validation on the way out. However, I found it worked seamlessly. There's several accessible parking spots up front and they are ADA compliant. The entryway includes automatic doors as this is a relatively new complex. As you enter the clearly marked clinic entrance, the reception desk is on the right and there's a couple small waiting areas. I was impressed with the intake call and they also called and did pre-registration that saved me, as a slightly spastic paraplegic, from having to write on those small forms the day of the appointment. I received a short video to watch prior to my appointment that basically explained what to expect and how to be prepared. I was taken to my room on time, or at least within five minutes of on time. The room was a bit small and not quite what I'd prefer to see in terms of wheelchair access. If I'd needed to get on the table, that would have been challenging, but it seemed both the nurse and Dr. Willfond adapted well. The rooms are bright and cheery, only minimally decorated and, of course, they have the Franciscan identifiers (a cross) above the door of each room. I don't know if Dr. Willfond had read my record in advance, but she was clearly informed and that gave both of us a good place to start from. As I specifically mentioned my leg concerns, I was impressed that she assertively wanted to see the leg as wrapped by my physical therapist. While the office isn't as well equipped with wrapping supplies, she made sure to re-wrap it and offered understandable clinical opinions and recommendations. Dr. Willfond listened thoroughly and even offered me sort of a "last chance" mention any other concerns. While primary care visits are always tight, I never felt rushed. In fact, handling the wrap was more involved than she expected but she followed through and addressed my concerns. It is my hope that she'll grow into a "safe" place for me to be authentic about my health and my disability while allowing someone to watch for health and skin issues. She was intelligent, informed, kind and felt safe but not in an artificial way. The nurse, as well, was absolutely top notch. If you need labs done, they have a walk-in lab on the second floor. This appointment was exactly what I'd hoped for and I was relieved that Dr. Willfond agreed to be my primary care physician.

The first, a primary care appointment, actually involved a switch for me as my primary care physician is on maternity leave and I had the opportunity to be seen by Douglas McMahon, MD, a physician within the same practice in the Franciscan Cityway practice located directly next to the Irsay YMCA. The basics of the practice remain the same - the building is located in the Cityway section of Indy just off downtown. It's an up-and-coming area with mostly higher-end apartments and restaurants within walking vicinity. You do have to grab a parking ticket, but Franciscan does validate parking. They have a row of accessible parking spots directly by the entry to the practice. They also have power doors with a push-button leading into the practice. As you enter, you head slightly toward the right to check-in and the check-in area is pretty wheelchair friendly as is the waiting area. Dr. McMahon has been with Franciscan for 24 years and he has a relaxed, friendly demeanor. He's serious and informed, yet friendly and relaxed. Despite the fact that I wasn't technically his patient, you could tell he'd taken the time to become informed about my case. I wasn't quite sure why I'd been scheduled a primary care appointment post-discharge, though I did think that it was a nice touch as I do think your primary care physician should be centrally involved post-hospitalization. I also think it gives you a sense of normalcy when hospitalization itself can be fairly traumatic (and certainly was in my case). I was impressed that the day before my appointment I received a call from the practice indicating Dr. McMahon had called in a prescription for me based upon lab work he'd reviewed. Again, that made it clear he was actually becoming informed about my case and not just treating me like somebody he had to cover for my usual physician. I was impressed. Upon my arrival, I was seen about 5 minutes after my scheduled time and Dr. McMahon arrived pretty quickly. He'd clearly reviewed my case and was well informed. He asked questions to fill in the gaps. We addressed a variety of subjects ranging from pain to concern about redness in my leg to my recovery and my goals for the next few weeks. It was a conversation that never felt rushed or pressured. This continues to be an impression I have of Franciscan. They seem to just allow for a little more time with patients and, in turn, I think that creates more trust and better outcomes. He prescribed another medication but overall felt like I was on a good healing track and didn't feel the need to see me again before my usual doctor returns from leave. He left open the door that I could contact him should any additional needs arise, but also understood I had a couple other doctors I would be seeing. He seemed to care about how I was treated by them and worked to ensure I had a positive relationship with them. Overall, this was definitely a positive experience and I would have zero issues recommending Dr. McMahon for someone seeking a family doctor and/or primary care. As usual, I also really liked the support staff including the woman at the front desk who remembered me by name. Having now experienced two physicians within this same practice, both of which I rated 5-stars, I would have to say the Franciscan Cityway practice is one of Indy's best kept secrets for family medicine.

However, given my growing concern over some dehydration issues and an ongoing issue with my leg, I opted to go ahead and give Franciscan Express Care a chance. Located in the CityWay area of near downtown Indy, Franciscan Express Care is located across the street from my primary care physician but is situated somewhat better in that it has free parking and a pretty easily accessible building. The parking lot is smaller than expected, though it's fairly workable and does have accessible parking spots (though there's a slight grade to them). This same building offers urgent care, wellness programs, sports physicals, drug testing, occupational health, lab, and x-ray services. It's open from 7 am-11 pm daily, a definite plus in the world of urgent care. Because I am an active primary care patient of Franciscan, my registration process was fairly simple. I registered within a few minutes - the staff was friendly, though they were on the phone with a supervisor upon my arrival. They did apologize when they got off the phone. There was an electronic board that essentially told you where you were at in terms of waiting (without violating HIPAA). That was helpful and decreased the "I'm waiting" anxiety. Truthfully, the wait was rather short and I was taken back to do the usual pre-check followed by a visit with the physician's assistant. I believe here name was Sarah Thill, though I may be wrong. Regardless, she was incredibly compassionate, a great listener, asked good questions and expressed concerns that perhaps I should consider going to the ER. She opted to offer me an antibiotic with the recommendation that if I wasn't showing signs of improvement soon that I should go ahead and go to the ER for further evaluation. I was incredibly happy with her presence and the thoroughness of her evaluation that definitely went beyond the usual urgent care exam. I was easily in and out within an hour and my prescription was ready for me by the time I arrived at my pharmacy closer to my home. As things would pan out, a few days later I did end up being seen in the ER and admitted to the hospital for several days. So, essentially, the urgent care here really did their job and made a solid recommendation that ended up being 100% correct. I found the setting to be comfortable and the exam rooms to be more wheelchair-friendly than most urgent care settings I've been to in the past. While one never quite knows what to expect from urgent care given the different clinicians one may experience, my visit here was definitely positive and I would easily return should the need arise in the future. While I still prefer my primary care physician, this is a great alternative. As a matter of note, while I wasn't required to pay upfront because of my insurance my final bill ended up being just over $90 - a good 10-15% lower than most IU Health urgent care settings.

You cannot help but look. It is on the front of the building and wraps around both sides. It was painted in 2016 and is the work of Justin Oloson of Olson Studios. The front has the building's address hidden into an eye chart and a brown eyed man with glasses on and the colorful waves behind the eye chart and to the mans right. The left side of the building has a blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman, yep, you guessed it, with eye glasses, looking at the colorful waves that are in front of her. I like the colors used in the mural.
