I was working with a big bank in parallel to shop for the best rates and the process was as different as night and day (I also looked at some of the online only lenders, but found them to be a pain to work with too). The Caliber team gave me a list of documents they needed and then followed up with a couple of questions and asked for a few additional documents. With the big bank, I had to go through four or five rounds of documentation and clarification. The big bank offered a better rate initially, but Caliber was able to match it. In the DC real estate market, being able to close quickly is important and I went with Caliber because I did not have confidence that the big bank would be able to close fast enough for my offer to be competitive.
