I spoke to Indu 4 months ago through lawbench asking a question about H1B to F1 transfer since I am trying to go to business school. Indu said that I had a 50% chance of rejection on F1 interview because I had an approved i-140 and basically scared me by saying that she thinks it's unlikely going to work out. After speaking to her, I got 3 other opinions from different immigration lawyers who said clearly that approved i-140 shouldn't be an issue if i-485 is not filled. I'm writing the review now because I just had my F1 approved at the consulate and the i-140 topic didn't even come up. This review is not just because she made unsubstantiated claims, but because of how she handled the conversation after. When I asked if there was anything I could do, she essentially implied that I was doomed because of place of birth and said 'it's not my job to tell you what to do, I can only tell you the facts'. Maybe people have different opinions on this, but if I am paying for legal ADVISE, I do expect some advise, not a shrug and good luck. To add, other lawyers helped me construct reasonings for how to handle questions about approved i-140 if it came up and were helping me solve the problem, other lawyers actually cared! All in all, I am still thankful to Indu because she made me do thorough research on this topic which helped my chances overall. I just wouldn't trust her word... Her knowledge may be outdated or she just doesn't care enough to learn the full case... When someone trusts you to come to them with big immigration decisions in their life, at least have the courtesy to understand the full case or just refuse the call if it's not worth your time. read more

I was asked to make an appointment on lawbench (which is painful) but I didn't hear back until I filed a case with Paypal for not hearing back from them. During the phone call, Indu was not aware of an USCIS extension that would affect me. Money and time wasted. read more

Before I proceed to my review, I would like to mention that this review is specifically about the lawyer's connection with Law bench and not about the how she handles other cases. My advice : Do not book a phone or in-person or online consultation at a law-bench website Why : Because the lawyers say "they are only volunteering at the site" and site is completely out of sync with what is happening regarding payments or consultations. Neither the lawyer nor the website is willing to take the responsibility for the money or the service provided. Detailed ordeal below - Day 1 : My husband called to request a paid phone/in-person consultation with Indu since we have done that in the past (3 years ago and it was agood experience). He was very told to request and pay via the law bench website. Day 2 : We paid $59.99 online using paypal. Paypal cut the money from our card and DID NOT REDIRECT to the lawbench website (as it was apparently supposed to do) I called the lawyer office to ask if the payment has been received. I was told following 3 sentences in repeated manner - 1. We only volunteer at the law bench 2. Contact law-bench support 3. We did not receive the payment and we need to get confirmation from law bench to schedule the consultation call. Lawyer did not offer any help to resolve the issue and Law bench site doesn't have a phone or email address for contact. The only way you can contact them is to fill a form and hope that they will reply. They did reply later that night saying "you are supposed to wait until the payment page redirects you to the law bench site" which by the way doesn't happen and yes, I had my ad blocker OFF. Day 3 : Since none of the above were going to refund my money back, I go to paypal and cancel the payment. I also, go to law bench site and message them to cancel the consultation request. Day 4 : I get an email from paypal saying Indu has cancelled the consultation and issued refund. Day 5 : I get an email from lawbench requesting a survey about how my consultation went. I get a call from Indu's assistant saying we can schedule an appointment for today. After assuming that it could be a technical glitch and after explaining what has happened in the past 4 days, I say, ok, let's do that. One hour later, I get another call from assistant saying Indu has informed her that consultation has happened over the weekend. When I pointed out that it didn't happened, the assistant suggested that she will talk to Indu to figure out a solution. Couple of hours later my husband gets a call from Indu (instead of me) She says we can't have a call since the payment has been refunded (which is correct as of today) and repeated the flag line "We only volunteer at Law bench". read more

"I had a very good support from Indu for my H1B extension. Indu is very straight forward and talks to the point.She always have solutions and the way to get things done. Indu helped my employer fix the documents for the H1B process. Indu is very detailed oriented, she scanned my employers website all the documents twice , thrice many times to make sure all was in the place. This review is for the front office staff only and not for Indu. Indu is a very diligent attorney. I have no qualms there. I have worked with her in past for certain issues. She was very methodical and thorough. But after a gap of 6-7 years I needed her services again and I tried to reach her staff and they kept pushing me to first pay consultation fees through some website and then only I can get a consultant with her. I told them I am traveling and my network is spotty at the best and I want to know if Indu would take my case if at all . But the front desk person said please pay then we can talk. That was not a good experience, but because I was in need I said take the payment over phone which was not less either ..... $ 79 , but she kept driving me to the website ($59- as opposed to $79 over phone) without considering my situation. I just gave up and took my business elsewhere. I got a free consult . The lawyer took my case and without taking a single penny. He is still answering all my questions regarding the process. Now that gives me a piece of mind . He told me his upfront charges for filing the case $3000 but that's due when I submit my paperwork. So I am ready to pay for his time and efforts but I needed that assurance first that he is a right choice for me. I never got to that point with Indu because of her staff. read more

It was a pleasure working with Indu and her team. All our questions were answered, emails replied to in a day or less, and any follow up concerns were addressed. At times we even received replies to our emails beyond normal office hours. Indu is very meticulous about providing the correct guidance not just for the purpose why you are seeing her but that helps you beyond too. Indu and her team are thorough professionals and do take the time out to answer any questions you have about your case. Indu helped us with our F2A case (Filing I130 and NVC) and we were certainly happy. I had started the process of I-130 much earlier with her and our I-130 was filed in a week after my marriage. I was in India at that time and the check i had given for filing the I-130(USCIS Fees) wasn't written correctly. Since i was in India at that time, Indu did not hesitate to send the filing fees from her own pocket so that I-130 was filed on time and by doing that our PD was one week before the cut off date in the Visa bulletin. Even a day makes a difference with respect to VB and Indu's timely help really saved 1-2yrs of processing time in our case. I have to mention about Sabreen as well who did a fabulous job in getting our paperwork together and was always available by email and phone with respect to any questions we had about our documents that were needed for I-130 and also at NVC. Very Money minded People. Indu and her assistant Melissa are the worst ever. They don't understand the Client urgency. No matter what they follow their own time lines. Even if the client is dying because of no-food and money, they still & will try to milk money out of him. Even before USCIS review the case these guys will reject the case. For example if you want them to file H1 Extension which expires on Oct. Then you may have to reach these guys by Jan. Then they give you rates which are way too expensive by Feb. Then March & April they will be busy and won't listen to you. June & July they will be in vacation. From August they will start your filing with lot of churns and turns, and with back and forth mails. By the time they file you extension your status will be expired. Though it seems like little bit exaggeration, but this how it exactly works there. It's just like a government office in India. They kill, kill & kill Time and milk lot of money. For Consulting company employees here is my suggestion Please don't ever go to her, there are Lot of other better Attorneys out there. If you don't get one then rather you apply by yourself. Cause if you spoon feed each and every document then why to you need an Attorney who is why too expensive. They don't give time to you to listen to you. Even after 6 or 8 Months through. They don't case study before they take up. They don't give exact Idea/information before they take up. They don't give exact time lines when they apply (Just Apply - Not Processing time). Cause apart from the USCIS processing time these guys have their own processing times to move the documents and post them to USCIS. read more

Indu Liadhar-Hathi and her staff was absolutely wonderful. There is no reason to look for another immigration lawyer. Originally I was trying to do my wife's application for adjustment of status and the forms were not very clear so we spent many hours on the phone with USCIS agents that were absolutely clueless on how to answer virtually all our questions. After hours of dealing with incompetent agents at the USCIS I did not want to take any chances in sending in any forms wrong so my wife an I interviewed 4 lawyers. Indu was more knowledgeable than the other 3 lawyers combined. When we first met Indu we had a list of about 10 questions that we had spent about 5 hours on the phone or on hold with the USCIS that the agents either were not sure of the answers or completely clueless.
