This year, we finally found Bennie's! She allowed us to make custom pre-orders in January when she was still selecting flowers. She showed us her Proven Winners catalog and had great suggestions for what would grow well together. Today we picked up our baskets and they look fabulous. I can't wait to see what they look like in August! The only disappointment was that with 11 hanging baskets in the Suburban, I only had room to take home 1 more plant. So back to Bennie's we'll go to bring home some beautiful geraniums, lavender, clematis, roses, or dozens of other annuals and perennials. Everything looked extremely healthy and vigorous. Customers are spoiled for choice, and prices are extremely reasonable. Well worth the 3 hour round trip!

Then 2 years went by and we wanted more flowering cherry trees and for some reason we bought them elsewhere. Out of the 4 we bought elsewhere only 1 survived. We recently bought 3 more from Bennie's. Plus their flower selection is pretty phenomenal. And the gals there know what they're doing.

It is in Th Centtralia Outlet stores. We walked in and walked around which took about 1 minute and left. No animals nothing. The only thing moving were crickets. What a let down. This place has had everything we've been looking for, and more! They have a great selection of plants, flowers, starters, seeds, soil, and more. Logistically, it's pretty easy to move around too, with wider aisles and carts to help lug everything around. Staff is also very helpful with loading things into your car/truck too. They have a back alley that makes it easy to pull up and they'll help get things into your vehicle. We haven't been to one yet, but they also offer classes and informational events to learn more about gardening, planting, etc. Check them out on Facebook for these listings. What we didn't know going in the first time was how many animals/pets they have. Fish, birds, and reptiles are plentiful and something fun for the kids to see. I highly recommend Pioneer West for your gardening needs. My only wish is that they were open on Sundays, as most of our outdoor projects need to happen on the weekends.

I'm told that they will be having a Grand opening soon and will offer workshops and classes. They have a good selection, especially of "bare root" trees ( which they potted in big peat pots that can go right on the ground). When I looked at the fruit trees and figured the cost of pots, trees, and soil, it's a really good buy.

But if you can hit their sales, then you get a semi-fair price. The thing that gets me is how they treat their employees and the community around them. Watsons does NOT support the Olympia community. Sure, they want your money and the sales (who wouldn't?). However, they not only churn through staff like a barbaric meat-grinder (they are horrible to work for!), but they do NOT support LGBTQ+ whatsoever - which is something Olympia cannot back. For those reasons, I can never support Watson's (especially the current CEO, Maidee, and her curated inner circle) or ever encourage anyone to purchase from them. After all, they purchase from the same growers that the other nurseries purchase from (and just mark up the prices higher!). The exception is the houseplants they truck in by the truckloads from FL a few times a year. The big box stores get better deals from better growers in a lot of things as well -- because they have buying power. But all the competition in the area purchases from the very same growers and sales reps. Watch out for bugs on the plants - especially houseplants. They do not do a great job checking for infestations when bringing plants in from FL(it's doubtful they even check at all...). All in all, because of the lack of integrity and values from the leads/owners, I cannot support this company. I had hoped they would be a brilliant addition to Oly -- sadly, I do not believe they are. Too bad - Oly would have flocked to a place that was safe for ALL Olympia to gather, celebrate and spend money.
