"Best Decision We Could Have Made"…read more Being an all vocal (a cappella) cover band focusing on R&B and Hip-Hop hits of the last 5 decades, we at Pitches Be Crazy (PBC) knew that producing our debut album would be a challenge. Our live shows incorporate technology and hardware that help to deliver a "full band" sound with only 5 vocalist. So as we approached how we wanted the album to sound, we wanted something that would give our fans that same feel of the live experience but in a professionally produced product. After recording all of the raw tracks in our in-house studio, we reached out to Blue Room Production (as recommended by a friend and local artist, Daniel "Yellow Tie Guy" Hill) to assist with the mixing and mastering of the album. From the beginning, Conrad (owner of Blue Room Productions) made us feel very comfortable, but more importantly, very confident that he and his team could meet our goals in producing this unique album. Additionally, the estimated costs were on target for our budget. We immediately signed up and began our journey to producing not just PBC's first album, but Blue Room Productions first project of this kind. Together, we would create something special. After an initial communication and "feeling out" period, we scheduled time with our assigned mix engineer, Devin Spears at the Virginia location of Blue Room Productions. The place is so comfortable that the most timid newbies to the studio world would feel welcome and encouraged to release ones inner "rockstar". Because of the uniqueness in our arrangements and overall sound, we began sitting in with Devin during mix sessions. Although we would guide the mixing process, it was Devin who recommended enhancements that really made the mix stellar. He took the time to listen and understand what we wanted the album to sound like. With very little guidance from us; Devin mixed everything quickly and accurately. After mixing the album, we spent a couple of hours with Conrad at Blue Room Production's Maryland location. A stark contrast from the Virginia location, Blue Room's studio in Maryland felt like you were on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise. The space was just as comfortable as the Virginia location, but the vibe was so much more intense; as if we were about to embark on a mission to fight crime or something where in reality we were going to create the "dopest" R&B album ever! Throughout the mastering process, Conrad took the time to explain what he was doing. (This is not something that everyone wants to be a part, understands or even cares about, but I'm a tech guy so understanding the process and technique was welcome.) By the end of 2 hours, the debut album for PBC was complete and it far exceeds what we hoped for. Before partnering with Blue Room Productions, we toyed with the idea of mixing and mastering the album ourselves to try and save a few bucks but thankfully we came to our senses early and made the commitment to outsource these activities. We cannot begin to tell everyone that reads this that the money spent at Blue Room Productions is the smartest investment you can make for creating your produced music. Not only does Blue Room have access to a plethora of hardware and software to get your music sounding amazing, but also has a staff that are highly skilled and experienced and are second to none at what they do. Their awards for being some of the best in the business in the area is well deserved and saved us countless hours (and significant additional costs) had we tried to finish our album ourselves. Our journey with Blue Room Productions was one that we are very thankful for. With several other recording projects on the horizon, PBC looks forward to continuing our partnership with Blue Room Productions and are excited to bring more of our music to the world! This review is about their rehearsal space. I didn't use the recording studio or any other…read moreservices, so I can't comment on any of that. I booked a 3 hour session in their rehearsal space with a 5-piece band from 6-9 pm on a weekday. The good: CHEAP. $65 for three hours worked out to $13 per person. You can't beat that, CONVENIENT LOCATION. I live in Bethesda and love going to 7Drum City but it's too much of a hassle to get there on a weeknight. This place is one of the few rehearsal spaces out here in the burbs. The not-so-good: EQUIPMENT. The guitar and bass amps and mic were quite good. The keyboard was a joke, a cheapo gadget and not the full 88. The drum kit was in a sound booth, which made it a bit awkward, and had a cracked cymbal and some other issues. THE EXPERIENCE. This was the thing that kind of turned us off the place. We didn't realize that there is no staff on site after regular business hours. We took the elevator down to the basement level and came to a long deserted hallway of locked doors. We called the number and found out that we needed an entry code, which they gave us. We got in and had to figure out for ourselves which was the practice room. The keyboard was hard to find. We needed over-the-phone guidance. And we were under surveillance the whole time. It is probably a totally different vibe during business hours but this was just not comfortable or conducive to getting into a music mood. It was a basement with no people, no windows, no bathroom, and just felt really creepy and weird.

Going to Omega was one of the best experiences of my life! I went to Omega and finished in March of…read more2016. I am writing to counteract the awful reviews I see here and give another side of the story. I was retiring from a career as a public school teacher and wanted to learn more about live music. I have a passion for attending live shows and thought this would be an interesting way to further that passion. As a middle-aged woman I was in the minority! Often folks thought I was some student's mother! Every teacher, every employee of Omega treated me with the greatest respect, encouraged me and supported me at every turn. I'm sorry others had a bad experience with Pete, the owner, but I found him to be gracious, and extremely knowledgable in his field. Perhaps you are the kind of person who can learn from the internet, or from experience on your own. I wasn't and a large number of fellow students seem to be the same. The students who succeed are the ones who set aside life's fun and games for a while and devoted themselves to study and practice. If you finish (and really who needs a graduation - never been to one in my life and I have a master's degree) and don't get a job in the field that's on you. Robert provides many opportunities for entry level positions. Yes, and even with your much more expensive 4 year degree you may start working at an entry level position. Please consider that unhappy people are the ones who write reviews. Satisfied folks aren't motivated! And why are all the positive reviews in the "not recommended" part of Yelp? I am now in my 3rd year of retired life, touring the country with a blues/rock band and thankful for my decision to attend Omega.

You should remember that the man who was in charge of the graduations had health issues and nobody took over his duties at this unprofessional establishment & NO ONE let any of the students know what was going on. You may not have been working there when the assault took place but it did indeed happen. You wanna call me a liar, I can name names. You act like a whole classroom of students didn't witness it. Yall lied abt firing him & you're STILL lying abt it. Robert, the man who supposedly helps with job placement, never returned phone calls & in that convo abt hopes & dreams & future jobs didn't actually listen to or care abt what field you wanted to pursue. Another reviewer mentioned touring w/ a band. Yes, that's abt all one is going to find out here. Most ppl cannot pack up & follow a band around. Most ppl going to Omega are not retirees looking for their late life career. MOST ppl coming to Omega are young and need a steady job upon leaving to pay off the massive debt they just incurred. And no, Omega does not have enough jobs for all the students they take in. I never wanted to leave a one star review for this school. I finally got Peterson on the phone (after him ducking me & lying abt calling me back) to see if there was ANYTHING that could be done to resolve our issues & the whole conversation was him condescending to me, lying & stonewalling. I was hoping Omega would be everything yall made it out to be. But the lying starts w/ Mr Goldstein promising WAY more than yall are caple of, it continues w/ Mr Peterson who carelessly brushed me off & apparently they now use you to come on here & harass legitimate reviewers....THREE yrs later.
