Do not waste your time and money coming here if you are looking for an education worth value. Mr. Peterson and his paid cheerleaders have created a "trade school" where they claim you can get an education that will prepare you for the music and film industry but this is all a LIE! What Omega is is a scam. What makes me sick about Omega is how they prey on the black community in particular. The majority of Omega's students are black but only one out of the seven instructors you will have is black. Omega, when you visit for a tour of the school Steve Goldstein, will go on and on about how Young Guru Jay Z engineer came to Omega and has gone on to be successful but yet Guru wants nothing to do with Omega and has associated himself with SAE Institute and has not been back to Omega. I wonder why. Omega is a scam. Then when you get into actually being a student you will also realize that once Steve Goldstein and Denise in financial aid have your money they stop caring about you all together and will treat you worse than a dog. The curriculum at Omega is also years behind and the owner is convinced that teaching students how to make music that people are not listening to at the moment like country, jazz and rock is going to help current students in the world today because jazz, rock, and country are in a downswing yet that's what you will spend the majority of time on. You will learn to produce in logic and reason which you will find out fast enough are programs that most people are not producing in. Despite what Steve Goldstein will tell you there are a lot of music industry producers with top 40 placements that are using fruity loops! The only redeeming quality about the curriculum is that you will have the chance to take a certified Avid pro tools course. Pro tools are the only certification you will leave from here with that people care about. Barely anybody knows of this place. I wish I never heard of this place and never came here. After being a student at Omega, I feel some of the administrators are racist including the owner Mr. Peterson. The majority of Omega's students are black but only one out of the seven instructors you will have is black, and they don't even feature him on the schools' website. Very shady. He likes to take advantage of black culture and black students as over 90% of the students are black, but he never invests in the black community or even wants the students playing "urban music" at Omega. They like to prey on poor black students mainly single mothers who are trying to help their kids get an education and better themselves. Omega also likes to prey on veterans and minorities by charging exorbitant fees for degrees that do not have any value outside of Omega's walls. Omega studios school is determined in teaching students useless and outdated information that does not apply today. Watch out for Steve Goldstein and Denise in financial aid because once they have your money, they stop caring about you all together and will treat you worse than a dog. Without government funds, which is how Omega is funded for the most part this place would close down. I go to school here and am having the time of my life! The instructors are incredible and the curriculum is immersive and hands on. You will learn on the highest quality equipment the industry has to offer- including world-class consoles from API, SSL and Neve. Within a few weeks of instruction I was already in Studio C learning signal flow and doing analog tape recording sessions. They also offer career skills and music business courses, which give valuable information to help you navigate your way through the industry. Their career office is wonderful and will start working with you immediately to develop a full 5-year plan and help you find a job after you graduate. The thing that I love about this school is that you get what you give. Meaning, your success and growth in the program will be decided by the work you put in and your curiosity to learn. Attending Omega was personally, as influential as it was educational for me. This is a raw educational experience. Nothing is sugar coated, and if you are not serious about what you signed up for, it is going to show fairly quickly. For me, this was an opportunity to learn from some very talented individuals and the fact that I can still reach out to any of them shows that you stay part of the Omega Studios community even after you graduate. As far as the studio itself, they have top notch analog consoles and gear. There are 3 different studios to choose from that provides a variety of options to meet the needs of any recording artist(s). The engineers are familiar with recording multiple genres and music styles and with the different studio spaces you can record anything from a single vocalist to a full orchestra. read more

This school changed my life. You won't find a better Audio Engineering School on the east coast or probably the whole US. I don't know what this "Amie" girl is talking about... the instructors were always very nice and knowledgeable. And she says something about filling up class sizes... my class was only 8 students!! You would see that more at bigger schools, not a small local one like Omega. And the owner actually helped me get a scholarship. And the school is nationally accredited so I got financial aid and stuff. In regards to job placement, the Director of Job Placement, Robert Scott Adams, actually helped me get a job as a Live Sound Engineer in DC. Anyways, fantastic school. When I came into this school in October of 2017, I had no prior knowledge of anything to do with audio engineering. I was always a musician, so I knew more about things on the other side of the glass. After months of training however I feel like I know audio engineering inside and out. All of the instructors are pleasant to be with, but not only that, it's very obvious that they do know what they are talking about. It's enjoyable to come to school everyday, and I believe it is the perfect opportunity to learn everything you need to know about recording arts. I strongly recommend Omega to anyone interested in recording, live sound, film, Midi. All of the subjects mentioned are taught upon wonderfully. read more

Being the only women in the classroom while I was a student here was very uncomfortable. Or you can take the comprehensive program, which covers everything. You will be taught to use a wide variety of equipment and programs common in professional environments. Before coming here I was self taught for years, but having the hands on experience at omega has greatly expanded my knowledge of recording, producing, and mixing.
