We had such a great experience here! My girl friends and I came into town very last minute and they wanted to try a class, but the classes had all filled up already... however the owner was very willing to work with us and offered us a special deal of 100$ private lesson for the three of us, which was so amazing because usually private classes cost 50$ per person. Our instructor (Aleen) was so nice and body positive, too, which made it better for beginners. Finally, the owner (Francesca) kept such amazing contact with us and was so helpful through the whole process, and was even willing to call me late at night to fix a billing issue. Twice I have scheduled a 7p twerk and twirl class taught by Kya and both times it has been cancelled last minute. More recently I drove all the way here waiting 15 mins when the sign on the doors says it would be unlocked 10 mins prior... doors opened at 7:15... just to be told the class was again cancelled. Let me say I loathe going to the gym until I came to Fempress! I was fortunate to find the studio on Yelp after learning about aerial yoga(hammacks). I have been taking the intro to aerial(hammock) class for 6 weeks I am hooked. Jacque my instructor is amazing! She is supportive and is excellent at providing instructions to students of all sizes! I really feel empowered when I am in my class. In my first class I could barely put my foot into the hammock. Now, with a good warm up I am in there! My recommendation for future fempress customers is to sign up early for the hammock class. There are only four spots available for each class. That is because you will need the leg and arm room to do the tricks. I am not sure if this recommendation would apply to the Lyra class. The classes vary every month depending on instructor availability and popularity. So if you are interested in taking multiple classes you can sign up for a unlimited package. There is not a package available at the moment to offer pole, lyra, hammocks, and fitness. There is only one large room that is setup for the lyra, pole, and hammock class. The chair and some of the fitness classes are in the smaller room. The studio is setup for private sessions so I am sure you can obtain additional training if the packages do not meet your needs. I am hoping the owner will offer some private instruction options where me and another hammock student can split to get further instruction if there is a class going on in the main room. Or use the smaller room for open practice, hint hint ! All I can say ladies, please check out a class you will not be disappointed! read more

I absolutely love this studio. Ive been going for over a year, they have taught me so much as a novice poler. I'm currently in the spin pole class as well as the level 2 tricks class. The instructors are patient, encouraging and thorough. I have taken Aileen, breanna and Francesca! They've created this beautiful space fir women to be free, create art via dance without judgment just guidance. I highly highly recommend this studio if you're thinking taking a class and starting you're very own pole/Lyra/yoga journey. read more

My daughter treated me to a private class here for my birthday. It was a complete surprise that did not disappoint. The owner and instructor is completely fabulous. She is beautiful inside and out. She is friendly and professional while being able to make you comfortable with the activity. I had never done any hooping or pole work. It wasn't easy but it was fun. I got just enough exercise to let me know I am in need of more daily activity. Haha! I do not live in Chicago so I have not been back yet. I'm so far away in Nevada. Booooo! THIS IS WHERE YOU NEED TO BE! Francesca, the owner, is the sweetest person ever and a great teacher for the class. I heard about Fempress Fit through word-of-mouth and called in about a gift certificate for a friend's birthday. They were still very new, only about 3 months open at that point. Francesca invited me to come get a tour of the studio and would process my digital gift card then. The experience was very personal and I really appreciated that she went out of her way to do this for me. The studio is GORGEOUS. The perfect size - very intimate. Her waiting area has great comfy couches, coffee, tea and WINE! It is also an adorable place to take pictures. I did buy my friend a gift certificate but also bought one for my mother to use a few weeks later when she came to town. We took an aerial fitness class, led by Francesca. Because we were the only 2 who signed up for that time slot, we pretty much received a 1-on-1 lesson and got so much attention. She did a great job at walking ya through all the steps to make sure we were comfortable and safe in all the movements as first-timers. As fun as the class is, it is a WORK OUT! Trust me! I mostly run, so a lot of the upper body exercises were difficult for me but Francesca made sure I did it until I felt comfortable. My mom does a lot of yoga, so some of the exercises were easier for her. After the class we chatted with Francesca over glasses of wine. It was so cute. I believe there can be 6 or maybe 8 people in a class at a time, so it is a very comfortable class and is intended to be very attentive. I tell people to come here all the time. Please take a class! Bring a friend or many. Or your momma! The studio is inside Lacuna Lofts which can be a confusing building. You need to be buzzed in and can find the call number on the keypad. The entrance at the farther end of the parking lot, which has a bunch of free, non-reserved Parking spots. Just read the signs to be sure or call the studio to ask! read more

Came here for a ladies night group class and really loved it. The building alone is worth a visit- completely rehabed artist spaces and home to a lot of small businesses, plus there is an awesome view of the skyline from the roof (our instructor took us for a group photo.) But the dance class itself was awesome. The instructors we're inspiring and really cared that our group had a good time. All of us were letting our sexy flags fly by the end of this class- such a fun way to get moving while trying something new. One week of classes and I'm sold! I had an excellent experience from the quality of instruction to the intensity of the workouts. Francesca is the owner and an instructor and she's equal parts savvy and sweet. I've also had class under Daria's leadership. She too is amazing. I find most valuable that injury prevention is a foundational component of the fitness classes. They have many classes from which to choose, so if you're new to dance/pilates-type fitness, you can try them out before committing to one particular class type. My favs so far are pole, lira, and flex. They also have glute boot camps, advanced classes, and so much more. I can't forget to mention how beautiful and comfortable the studio is. And, it surprisingly large. Fempress Fit will definitely be my new go to. read more

I was going to fempress about 3 times a week. It became my second home. I loved my instructor and my fellow classmates. It never felt cliquey and it was a comfortable environment. However as others have stated, the owner's attitude is what drove me away. They had just started this new option where you could rent out the studio and I was ecstatic about being able to do Lyra 4 times a week at that point. The night before I guess their system sends an email to us to confirm the appointment if you don't they delete it. I find this to be an extremely flawed system. I don't check my email often especially if I'm not getting notifications because it's flooded by spam emails. I am a manager and I schedule clients for tours all the time. When I need them to confirm I pick up my phone and CALL them. Francesca did apologize and said she could have someone come asap but I had work after and went all the way down to pilsen to have my time wasted before work. I told her I didn't have time and didn't appreciate not calling me to confirm. Which is super annoying I have the app it reminds me I have a class scheduled or studio time scheduled I know! If I'm going to not be there you will know. Her response was caddy and rude. She belittled me and told me she would "sit down with me and review their policies". That's when I was done. And really sad about it I loved this studio a lot but Francesca is not kind when she would sub for my instructor. My friend who went there also experienced this before So if you knew this was a flawed system why not fix it instead of driving another loyal student away with your attitude? This place is a really good place to go to, just didn't like how things played out. read more

HalleLujer! Finally found a place In Chicago that's beyond Fab for Aerial Yoga! I first took classes while living in Philadelphia, loved it so much that I ended up buying my own hammock to put in my home... But that was 16 foot high ceilings ago. I moved back to Chicago and tried a few classes here and there, Man was it rough!!! Went to another studio in Lincoln Park which had hammocks that just about knocked my friend and I out, just from the funk/smell. Needless to say, first and last visit there. Tried others with not much luck there either. That is until FEMPRESS. Plenty of parking to start with, very cool artist and events building, so a very cool Vibe, then enter the studio... The owner has such a positive vibe, as well as the two instructors I met while there. The class was so much fun and worked out a terrible sciatica kink I was having. Let me just tell you, FEMPRESS did an amazing job of making all of us feel comfortable. Our instructor was absolutely amazing. We had the instructor from Brazil. She was fun to watch and was so patient and encouraging to my group of friends. The owner went out of her way to give us a private tour of the unique building that FEMPRESS is in.
