There's fun and food alongside adventure and excitement. It's a waterpark, Spa and Gym. There is golfing, boating and fishing, dancing with live music, games galore and so much more. It's a great escape. The management and staff treated us with the dignity and respect of a King and his Queen with professionalism and hospitality. They were friendly, polite and welcoming. All the amenities were top-notch. From start to finish, they made us feel at home. Everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out. An Excellent value for what you are getting. We ate at every restaurant bar or grill they had and the food was delicious. We drank from every spigot from which alcohol flowed and it was all good and strong. From the moment we arrived the energy was electric and pulsated an invisible, fluid-like force in all the many spaces, nooks and crannies. It was like stepping into a magical movie set or perhaps entering into a vivid Ayahuasca or Peyote induced dream. As our buzz reached its climax, we were rocked onto an electric avenue that took us even higher. It was never-ending and finally we were thrust into a state that blended ecstasy with euphoria. We were being healed and relaxed. It was like a day at the spa or having a poolside experience. Everything was clean, peaceful and pleasant. There was only one luggage cart available that could accommodate hanging clothes, and it was broken with a damaged wheel and bar. We had to wait for another cart to become available before we could unload. After checking in, we headed straight to the pools. The lazy river, which was already short and narrow, had water that was dirty and surprisingly warm. We decided to move to the larger pools and stopped to get towels, only to be told there were none available. We came back later and still no towels. Staff said they had run out in less than five minutes. We ended up waiting around the towel station until we were finally able to grab the last three towels available for our party of eight. When we returned to our rooms, we found that each bathroom only had two towels, even though we had clearly told the front desk that four people would be staying in each adjoining room. We had to call housekeeping and wait for additional towels. We also had to request blankets for the sofa beds because the bags only contained sheets. This was another detail that had been communicated during check in but still wasn't prepared. The housekeeping issues didn't stop there. Our rooms were never serviced during our stay. With eight people split between two adjoining rooms, trash piled up quickly, towels ran out even faster, and the rooms became messy. A simple housekeeping visit to empty the trash, replace towels, and refresh the rooms would have gone a long way. The rooms also showed signs of poor maintenance. The mounted shampoo and body wash dispensers barely worked, making it difficult to get even a small amount of product out. The bathroom fixtures were stained and looked rusted. The shower head was so clogged with mineral buildup that only about half of the nozzles actually sprayed water. Our balcony door also didn't close properly. The lake views were beautiful and easily one of the best parts of the stay. However, the premium pricing for activities, boat rentals, and watercraft, combined with very little guidance or guest service for exploring beyond the resort, made it feel like guests were left to figure everything out on their own. What disappointed me most wasn't that we experienced a few problems. Any resort can have an off day. It was realizing afterward that many of these same issues have been mentioned by other guests for months. The towel shortages, housekeeping delays, maintenance problems, and worn rooms are recurring complaints. It doesn't seem like these are isolated incidents, but rather ongoing issues that management has not done enough to address. For a resort that's only six years old and charges premium prices, I expected much better maintenance, organization, and customer service. Instead, it felt like the property is aging much faster than it should because the upkeep and operations are not keeping pace. We paid resort prices but didn't receive a resort-quality experience. Unfortunately, based on our stay and the consistency of similar experiences shared by other guests, the likelihood of us returning is very low.

My family and I were actually out to go strawberry picking but ultimately did not meet our expectations. We were all hungry and by a search happened to find Landshark Bar & Grill. Interesting was the location next to Margaritaville. The menu is a couple of selections but ultimately decided to go with the Seafood platter that had the beer batter fish, fries, coleslaw, coconut shrimp, fried shrimp with pineapple aioli, cocktail sauce and tartar sauces. Good selections and a nice crispy bite to each. Overall I think visiting Landshark Bar & Grill. The food ok and the atmosphere nice since it is overlooking Lake Conroe. Service was ok as well and I did appreciate manager stopping by the table to ask if everything was good. Maybe there is a cheeseburger in paradise. Nothing to worry about and it was a pleasant visit.

My dining companions and I are veterans of the restaurant, catering & hospitality industry. The fish on the fish & chips was inedible. The first attempt was burnt beyond recognition. The second attempt was boxed, previously frozen fish patties that were under-cooked. The only thing edible on the plate was the "chips." The steak sandwich consisted of a slab of flank steak that could have replaced the sole of a shoe. Flank is the wrong cut unless it is sliced, thinly, cross-grain. It was also poorly seasoned and bland. We ordered a crispy chicken sandwich that wasn't crispy, it was grilled. This entre' and the fries were the only acceptable dishes served. We asked if the crab cakes were made with lump crab. Our server checked with the cook and informed us it was imitation crab (pollock). I spoke with the manager to let her know about the experience. "You can't fix it if you don't know what is wrong." I was offered a complimentary meal on our next visit. I told the manager that wasn't necessary as we are just visiting the area. I waited a while for the check while my companions went to get our car. The server finally delivered the check and the two inedible dishes were deleted from the bill. I paid and tipped our lovely server more than than the total check would been. It wasn't her fault.

Though I appreciate that they have an elevator to get to the bathrooms. It would be a concern if the elevator was not working with those bathrooms located on the second floor. Also, two of the bathrooms were out of order and they need to be monitored as some guests completely soaked them and pulled the towel bars off the walls. The amazing custodial staff were working hard the next morning to take care of them. Otherwise, they were kept very clean. We rented a golf cart to use while there, I would not recommend getting it on the first day since the check time is 9 am to 9 am and check in with RVs is at 1pm. So, you have paid for a 1/2 day that you can't use it with no prorating. The pool was great. Be aware there is limited shade at the pool and no umbrellas. We rented a cabana on the second day, which was nice but I probably would not do it again since we did not spend much time using it. We found we could find shade by staying by the swim up bar on the adult side in the afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed the swim up bar, the bartenders were attentive and friendly. We also ordered food at the swim up bar. The pizzas are great! I would not recommend the nachos. Overall, the resort was a very nice place for a quick getaway. We will visit again in the near future.

I wanted to go to a cozy staycation in Houston and even though my heart and soul was telling me to go to The Westin Downtown, my favorite hotel in Houston, I wanted to stay somewhere different. First of all, as a content creator that highlights her travels I needed to get content on a different hotel. The problem is, I knew I would be let down by Hotel Zaza Houston because Dallas is just more fabulous and fancy. Their aim is to please. This is not....that. So, on arrival to the hot there is a person who opens the door for you but that is it. There wasn't an offer to take my luggage or bring it to my room. In Dallas, they trip over you to assist you and they definitely earned the big tips my sister and I gave. They seemed like they Loved their job. Anyways, first world problems and definitely not the biggest deal. I am definitely capable of bringing my own luggage to the room. Now the reception was fine and quick to get me to my room. I had worked the night before and chose to go get a manicure and pedicure before my arrival to Hotel ZaZa so I could be nice and tired when it was time to go to bed. I honestly am getting irritated with the check-in and check- out times of hotels lately. When I was younger, growing up and up until recent years check-in time was noon or 1PM. Their check - in time is 4 PM, soon it's going to be midnight. There was a mention of early check in on th e website but I'm sure it involved paying more money. I'll pass. Also, to check out late, same thing even though I was leaving early Friday morning. Now, the room was just basic. I blame myself for this because I just picked the cheapest room. I did bring products to clean and sanitize the room and they probably should have put more effort into cleaning the room. I shouldn't feel icky when doing a quick clean up. The sheets were clean and so was the shower. The shower was wonderful! Great temperature and pressure. It was soothing! Now I didn't do turn down service but housekeeping did come around to give free bottled water, ice, and a Moon Pie. I saw that the gross Moon pies were part of turn down service. No thank you! I passed on room service and just Doordash. The food options were too expensive to be basic and unappealing. I asked for a specific blanket my first night and it took over two hours to receive and it wasn't what I asked for. Bummer! The room got cold but not like I prefer. Honestly, my stay was just okay. I didn't even film content my second day. I just vegged out and relaxed.

Locals/visitors even use the ferries to transport their cars! An observation deck is located at the middle of the ferry to enjoy sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico. Apparently people have seen dolphins during ferry rides! I didn't, but I'd definitely want to try to seem some next time. The deck had both indoor and outdoor sections. The inside had refreshing AC, observation windows, and bathrooms! Outdoor sections (for those who want to get closer, like me) hardly have shade but you'll catch a nice breeze. The ferry was an incredible experience for me, I love islands and boat rides. I saw families taking the ferry together, it's very kid-friendly and cars are parked in dedicated spots while the ferry is in motion. Pedestrians unboard first! Note: The entrances to the ports almost felt like a border crossing, it's pretty busy here. Each port has a visitor center with a restroom, information pamphlets, and vending/water machines. Parking is free if you're simply going for a cruise and don't want to take your car on the ferry ride.

But once in the lot, it is not clear where to go to board the ferry. We walked towards a nearby building, to discover that it simply housed a large amount of restrooms. There is no signage inside the building showing how to board the ferry. We went back outside, and started to look around, and fortunately for us, found a ferry employee that was able to show us how to get to the boat. But even she was confused, because of construction fencing that obscured the regular way to board. Once on the boat, we followed the other passengers up a very narrow, but steep, stairwell. On that level, it is air-conditioned, and has lots of windows. We followed some other passengers through a door to the outside railing. This gives you a good viewpoint, looking down on the cars that are stowed on the boat. There is actually some shaded areas on the outside railing, so you are not in the direct sun the entire time should you want to avoid that. On both the trip over, and the trip back, we did see some dolphins surfacing, but unfortunately, no big shows. We did not get off in Bolivar, we just watched the cars disembark, and the new cars load. It was a fun little diversion, and you can't beat the price - free! Have to give a shout-out to the restrooms in the building next to the parking lot - they are super clean and in like-new condition, and the air conditioning was a welcome relief!

It's also good to know that gratuity is already added to your bill. So if you tip 15-20% on top of your bill, they are getting double that tip. I did enjoy the movie nights by the pool and Jacuzzis. The service was pretty good for breakfast and lunch with such a high volume of people to serve. Dinner blew everything else away with great entertainment from acrobatic, exciting dancers, and food that I won't soon forget. My favorite dish was the lobster ravioli smothered in a cheesy, tomato basil sauce. There is a wide variety of food to choose from and interesting shows going on every night. I really enjoyed the comedy show and karaoke lounge. I tried the acupuncture and was happy with the professional service I received and felt very relaxed afterwards. Overall, what you receive for the price is pretty fair, and most of the staff works to make your experience enjoyable. My main issues were getting back on the boat after docking is a long process, customer service is rather slow (may be understaffed) and the ships could definitely look better. But the experience is one I won't soon forget.

We drove from Round Rock (just outside of Austin) the day of the cruise--took about 3 hours and we arrived at 11am. We parked at EZ Cruise Parking and got shuttled to the pier. Embarkation hit a small tiff because I didnt print our FunPass or have our cruise documents, but they were able to locate us in the system...phew. Being newbies on the ship, I quickly learned nothing on the ship is free! We made our way to the lido deck where we were greeted with big, tall drinks that I naively thought were free. HAHAHA! Once they asked for our room card, we learned they were $8/each. Oops! Wont make that mistake again. We got some food and explored the ship until our room was ready. We splurged for a balcony room which was nice, but we didnt use the balcony nearly as often as I thought we would (it's TOTALLY worth it for Alaska...not so much Caribbean). Our room was pretty roomie with a separate sitting area and the bathroom was tiny, but we made due. For some reason, when we went in February, there were a LOT of senior citizens aboard. Maybe it was because it's not a spring break time period or what, but whenever we went to the main dining room for breakfast or lunch, we were always the youngest ones BY FAR by 2 generations. The ports: Jamaica - Dunns River Falls. This is 2 hour bus ride each way, but our tour guide was really entertaining which made it bearable. During the drive, you do see the poor parts of Jamaica and the kids washing windshields for some money. The waterfall itself is beautiful and definitely bring your own $5 watershoes from Target or else you'll be charged $10 to buy them there. The guides were recording with a camcorder while we climbed and tried to sell it to us afterwards for $40. We refused, but after they dropped it to $30, my husband was suckered into it. A guy who was just there took a Polaroid of me and my husband and tried to sell it to us for $10. We refused and he stated that it'd be a problem for him. We never agreed to the picture in the first place since I brought my own digital camera with a waterproof case so there was no need--I had my own pics! Grand Caymen - We took the Sting Ray City, Hell & turtle farm tour. Swimming and feeding the sting rays made this port totally worth it! It's amazing how docile they are. Hell is a tourist trap and the turtle farm was rather interesting. Cozumel - I really wanted to see the ruins and my husband wanted to go horseback riding so we picked the tour that had both. Just note, this isnt the ruins tour with the grand pyramids--it's actually a ranch with LOTS of replicas and one authentic Mayan piece that was found on the land. I was disappointed and this tour was definitely more about horseback riding more than anything (which we can do back at home). My husband and I took a cruise with Norwegian to Alaska the following year and I have to say that we both like Carnival's food a lot better. The lobster was divine the 2x I had it, but now 2 years later the food could be different due to the economy. I had a friend go on the same cruise recently and they didnt like the food very much and they also werent offered the midnight gala buffet with all of the fancy chocolate diplays. During one day at sea, the waves were REALLY rough. People who had cruised for years commented that this was the WORST they had never seen the boat rock. We went to the art gallery at the aft of the ship and it rocked so much, we had to leave. Everyone was walking around the ship as if they were drunk because the boat moved so much. Our balcony door kept coming loose with the rocking which was SO annoying because wind would whistle and wake us up. Luckily, we had calm seas for the rest of the cruise. As for boat entertainment, we saw a few of the comedians and played bingo once. Some of them were hilarious! Others were kind of meh. We did go to the Vegas-type show and it was ok. We did some gambling where my husband won $700 on craps. Dembarkation was a breeze because we opted to bring our luggage off ourselves. When we got off the boat, we had sea legs for a few days, but after reflecting over our experience, we would both definitely cruise again (and have). It's a nice way to see more than one place without having to worry about transportation, lodging, cooking or cleaning. On the other hand, sometimes port visits seem not to last long enough. We're taking a 5 day cruise in July so--definitely looking forward to that!
