It was such an amazing indie radio station years ago. Now it just another generic station with poor content.

Not up to par with the music interests. A few indie bands are stellar the rest of the time bothering is not in need sort of thing.

How I hate jazz, let me count the ways…read more 1. I hate the way it's pronounced. Every letter pronounced with its own specific jazziness. The pursed-lipped J, the undulating A, and the buzzy Zs are horrible, horrible, horrible. 2. Improvised solos aren't that cool. It's the musical equivalent of stepping on to an oil drum and masturbating. People shouldn't applaud in the middle of a tune, nine times. What the fuck. 3. Watching people close their eyes and snap their fingers and twitch as though approaching an epileptic fit is excruciating to watch. 4. There's, like, way too much saxophone. 5. The holier-than-thou attitude of jazz afficionados is laughable. Please don't tell me to "listen to that bass." The notes they didn't play? Fuck off. 6. Avant-garde jazz is fiercely maddening. I'm all for experimental music, but this stuff might as well be called "You wouldn't understand, jack!" Turn that dial. Obligatory Title Pun: JAZZ lovers? EFF EM. Menu Readability: 911 is right. If I'm listening to jazz, It's some kind of emergency. Need to mention: I wrote this while listening to Lee Morgan. Not half bad. What this place teaches me about myself: Hate it. I fucking hate it.

Do I love every single piece of music they play? No, but this is still a world-class jazz radio…read morestation and Toronto is lucky to have it! The personalities are great, from Heather to Jaymz, Brad, Ross and others, and for the most part they play seriously terrific jazz. FYI: as a "member supported" station they rely on donations in order to do-do that voodoo they they-do so well.......so if you listen, throw them some dough why dontcha. For more jazz on the airwaves, check out the Quebec station 90.3 which occasionally plays jazz (when they do, it's excellent) and also the fabulous "Some Experiences in Jazz" program on Fridays from 10pm to midnight on 105.5FM (also available on Rogers digital 945, Bell Fibe 973 or chry.fm)...I never miss that one. Jazz lovers unite! :)

Tip: Stream this station using the iHeartRadio app…read more I have listened to CHUM 104.5 for what feels like eons. When I was learning how to drive in my dad's car, the radio was on. We were either listening to CHFI 98.1 or CHUM FM. I associate CHFI whenever I visit my dentist these days. I listen to CHUM FM mostly in the mornings. Growing up, it was the Roger, Rick, and Marilyn show in the morning. Rick Hodge resigned. Roger and Marilyn continued until Roger retired. Darren B. Lamb joined the morning crew, but also resigned. Jamar and Marilyn were great, but he moved to the afternoon drive with Josie Dye. It's now Marilyn and David, which has also been great. Marilyn seemed like a permanent fixture and beacon of light for nearly forty years. She announced this morning that she'll be leaving the radio station and the morning program this summer. She has had a wonderful career. I'll miss her voice in the morning. After forty years, I can see that she wants to sleep in and do something different! I love listening to Ruby Carr when she starts her show at 9 am. I normally have a bunch of meetings throughout the morning, so I normally catch bits of her show. I also like Azalea Hart. She does nights. Sometimes, she's works weekends. Some format changes have been weird. There used to be a sixty-second news break. It has disappeared. There's What's Trending? It's not the same, though. It has more of an entertainment spin than news. Traffic reports continue, which I appreciate when I head into work on Wednesdays. I don't mind the music that this station airs. Sure, some songs are played ad nauseam. Eventually, it'll stop. I typically stream this station on my phone. Otherwise, if I'm in my car, the FM channel has this station as a favourite. (95)
