With the amuse-bouche, I find it's always tastier to go local, so I selected Last Remaining Parking Spot Discovered On Toronto Side Street. It was a nice, light starter for the rest of the evening but I definitely suggest a wine pairing since on its own it's just the slightest bit dry. For the main, I highly recommend Wistful Sigh Not Helping. It's smoky and dark on the outside but incredibly juicy once you dig in past the pith. Heads up: I know a lot of you prefer your entrée loins medium-rare, but this article only comes well done. The marbled effect of the torte was aesthetically stunning and the flavours were so diverse... my only gripe was the size. It ended much too soon and I wished they might have made it just the slightest bit bigger. The store is very tight and the shelves are tightly packed with new and old items. There are items in there that you won't have seen for over 30 years! There are things from 1940s to 1960s also! Examples of vintage items are: vinyl records, "45" records, cassette tapes, 8 track tapes, key chains, old photo frames, toy cars, souvenir spoons, old 2-hole paper punchers, smoker's pipes, quill pen tips, hockey cards, Sellotape cloth tapes, cockroach chalk, date stamper, receipt books, jewelry boxes, road maps, VHS movies, and CDs (when did CDs become old?). Some items still have the original price stickers on them and that's the price Stanley is selling them at! Yes there are actually new items sold there like snacks, drip coffee, and lottery tickets. I hope those are not over 30 years old! Stanley can also duplicate keys. There is an ATM. There is no free WiFi. The store is not wheelchair accessible. There are no customer washrooms. Came by on a wandering walk and boy, am I glad that I did!…read more Zoinks is one of those perfect neighbourhood bookstores. Well loved, broken in, never leaving. There's a great selection of well taken care of books for an affordable cost. Peep the opening jacket to see the price drawn on in pencil. I walked away with two awesome books for the price of one. First, Drunk Mom by Jowita Bydlowska and secondly, The Best Kind of People by Zoe Whittall. Just a ways away is Christie Pitts Park, meaning you can buy a book, grab some Tacos Al Asador and read and in eat in the calm of The Pitts. The music selection is a little smaller and the shop feels mostly AAB (all about books), but you'll no doubt be able to find something to love.
