I've participated all three years as a vendor in the Indie Wed winter show. Indie Wed is an amazing opportunity for vendors like me, who primarily work with less traditional couples. I've always felt my effort would be wasted at traditional wedding shows. That's not my crowd. From the perspective of a participating vendor, Indie Wed has always been very well organized. My website had a high volume of traffic from the Indie Wed website and in general in the weeks immediately before and after Indie Wed. Definitely a great return on the investment! read more

If you're looking for talented, local pros with personality, Indie Wed is the only show you need to attend. I was at the event where a friend of mine picked up a swag bag, and was later publicly chastised and accused by Indie Wed of having stolen it by tracking her down on the web, and posting to her public facebook wall and on her blog later in the day. She thought the bags were for everyone because there was no rope or sign saying otherwise, and other people were picking them up. I was there, and no one said anything to her at the event. Indie Wed should really be more cautious about throwing around libelous claims publicly on the web. read more

Last year I attended Indie wed as a vendor and it was such a great experience. Indie wed is not like many other shows, its full of small businesses that actually have to go through an application process to display their work and services. And to be honest, as a vendor its a huge honor to even get a booth. I have been to other shows in the past and honestly, they suck!! Its full of big businesses that spend the next 4 years of your life sending you email after email of their promotions. Blah!!! Being a small business owner, every bit of positive exposure helps! Its nice to find a show that doesn't allow for big businesses to come in and ruin the party. This year I had the pleasure of helping run a booth for a group I am a part of, the Green Wedding Alliance. Props to Indie Wed!!!! Its probably one of my favorite events of the year! read more

I have been to all the fairs in Chicago and Indie Wed is by far my favorite!

it was AMAAAAAZING! i attended this Feb. 2014 and after having attended several "other" wedding expo's for free this event is worth EVERY penny! Pay the extra money for the SWAG BAG- it's super cute and gets you a bunch of extras. So the event is NOT your A typical wedding expo shuffling through the aisles like cattle it's an experience! there's tons of vendors who are all very nice and amazing in their own right. it's the place you go to if you want NOT to be ordinary but rather extraordinary! it helps a bride be her unique self. Most vendors are their own mom & pop kinda thing, indie experts and small enough to be extra personal but large enough to handle whatever you throw at them. The event was at the REC room and it filled up the whole space with GREAT and I do mean great vendors. There was probably only a few I passed up more quickly but only because it was a service I didn't really need. And when i say "event" I do mean event. there was music and fun and food and drinks of the adult kind to wash it down! I def still remember some of my fav booths and vendors! GO NOW! okay, maybe not now, now, but you MUST go when they have their next scheduled event. and bring your girl friends- because it's just THAT much fun!!!! again the BEST experience wedding planning thus far! read more

Having been recently married, my apologies for this LONG, overdue post! I had the privilege and the pleasure of attending two Indie Weds:one in January and one in July! Each time, I was blown away by how much fun I had at the show and how unique the idea/concept behind all of it. As someone who's not into the fluffy and traditional wedding, I truly appreciated the uniqueness of the vendors: amazing cinematography, organic food caterers, accessory artists, and the list goes on and on. I love the modern, funky, and inspiring designs presented by every artist being showcased! With a fashion show of great dresses, amazing treats (appetizers AND sweets!), great music to dance to, and all kinds of creativity, both days were well spent and so much fun! I truly appreciate going to an event where the vendors are as genuine as their work and you leave knowing that you will be following up with the vendors and asking them to make your wedding as fun as they made Indie Wed. For those of you planning a wedding, this is THE wedding event to attend. The first time, my best friend and our fiances (now husbands) went together, and they had a great time, too! I was glad that it wasn't just an event for brides, bridesmaids, and moms; the guys enjoyed it all, too! On my second go around, I brought along three engaged girlfriends (big year for all of us!), and we had an amazing time! From the looks of it, everyone else was having a great time, too!
