The US Rowing Club National Championships were held this week at Eagle Creek and I was able to volunteer today - the final day - as a Finish Line Timer. The IRC was so well organized and professional. Each race went off without a hitch and it was amazing how quickly and efficiently the officials got the skulls in place and on their way. The athletes gave it their all and competed heart and soul.
I learned so much about rowing and although it was hotter than blazes today - and we spent much of our time in the sun, I thoroughly enjoyed giving my time (8 am to 1 pm) to assist with the timing. I met some very nice people and I always enjoy seeing others give their time to volunteerism.
I hope to do this again next year. read more
