We saw the good reviews for this place that was within walking distance of our hotel (not an easy walk due to lack of sidewalks). We love Indian food and had not had it in awhile. No one was in the restaurant when we arrived for dinner so the service was prompt and friendly. We ordered a big bottle of Flying Horse beer. They served complimentary papadam with a selection of sauce and "sort of" a green salad which was unusual for most Indian restaurants we've been to. For our mains we ordered the chicken vindaloo and Channa masala. Both were very tasty and the right spiciness as ordered. We also got some naan and raita. Thumbs up for the food. The restaurant got a bit busier, maybe a quarter filled, and that is when the service slipped. We asked for the check at least three times before it was brought out. We waited15 minutes... This place is bonkers. Truly a hidden gem, well hidden. The first time I drove by it I had no idea it was there. It's attached to an awful motel (use the restroom at your own risk). But this restaurant is amazing. The food was phenomenal. We love Indian food but this was on another level. We tried 4 different kinds of naan, all pillowy and fresh and so good with all the different sauces. Garlic was our fave. The rice is perfect, the chicken melts in your mouth, and for the most adventurous among us the goat was loved. I did not expect to find food that rivaled my favorite Indian places in New York in a joint in Youngstown Ohio that looks so deceptively plain, but I'm so glad I took a chance and stopped in. From the outside it looks like it's barely open, but step inside and you'll find a warm and inviting atmosphere, friendly staff, and outstanding freshly prepared food. My Chicken Tilka Masala was among the best I've ever had, with a complex blend of spices. I wish I had the time and room in my belly to try some of the more adventurous menu items, but now I have an excuse to return. Big credit too for the excellent music playlist, what a pleasant surprise to hear some Lata Mangeshkar after a long day of driving. Highly recommended! read more

To tell the truth I was disappointed. My grandson and I were in town for a sports competition and since we both love Indian food we decided to eat here. We ordered garlic naan, tikka masala and shrimp biryani. The naan was great, the tikka masala was very good, but the shrimp biryani was not good at all. Although shrimp was not an option the server asked for me and the cook said I could get shrimp with the biryani. The biryani was dry and just consisted of seasoned rice and the shrimp which was dry, hard and fishy tasting. I've had biryani prepared many different ways, sometimes with cashews, sometimes with currants, sometimes with both, but there is always fried onions and this time it was only spiced rice. I will say that the raita that was served with the biryani was probably the best I've had. After we got our food the server got a bit busy and forgot us, so by the time she came back we needed to leave, so I did not get the kheer which I always try to have. read more

Really unexpected delight! We just moved here from the SF Bay Area, where you can find any number of fine Indian restaurants without really trying. This was excellent. Although my British husband asked for "Indian hot" and was disappointed it wasn't spicy enough. I'm 100% sure after a few more visits, they'll realize he really means it! I just discovered this amazing little restaurant yesterday! It is right on route 46 in Austintown and it's been there for a year. It's inside of one of the hotels behind some of the other businesses on route 46 so it's difficult to see from the road. I recommend that anyone who enjoys authentic Indian cuisine go and check it out. I had a wonderful server named Jenny who was hospitable and eager to help me explore the menu. She is a gem! It is a modest size establishment; very clean with comfortable booths. Lovely floral arrangements on the tables. There is a bar as well. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced. Jenny brought over a crisp cracker bread and 3 different tasty condiments including a tangy sweet mango chutney. The Chhole Bhatura which is an appetizer could've been an entire meal! At least for me. Jenny recommended Butter Chicken which was tender and came with fragrant basmati rice. I also tried the delightful cheese naan. Huge portion. (I took half of everything I ordered home with me. ) I had a mango lassi which was one of the best ones I've had. You could taste different flavors and spices. For dessert there was a freshly made rice pudding /Kheer with a Gulab Jamun /dough ball on top. I observed that they had a busy takeout traffic also. So happy to try this Indian Restaurant (inside/connected to Quality or Hampton inn) and love it because they use our local farmer's (Witing) chicken and goat! Never have seen the foreign restaurant's supporting our local farmer but it is a breath of fresh air. It was just me this first time so I ordered Goat Korma. Korma can be made without spice and this was actually my favorite because sometimes korma is heavy and this was nicely balanced. You can get it with any meat. There's cashews and a lovely taste that is not described as a curry. Delicious. They also had baigen bharta (like mild tomato and eggplant Indian bruschetta -type dish great on their soft fresh bread called naan). This place served me a salad with lettuce and cucumber to satisfy Americans but normally you don't have such a salad. (I am fantasizing they come up with an Indian "dressing" and make it like a fusion dish idea). The naan was perfect. I get the garlic naan and it is just the perfect amount of garlic. The starter on the table at first is like an English water cracker with an aromatic spice (coriander?) with three "sauces". The chunky one is not spicy (apricot/nutmeg), green is a creamy mint with a little heat, and the third one is for spicy food lovers. They had Indian drinks. Let me state right out that Indian food has not been on my culinary radar because I had such a bad experience at an Indian restaurant that I swore it off for a long time. Overly spicy food is not my thing. However I saw the 5 star reviews on Yelp, looked at the menu and decided to give it a try - Glad I did! You can get your food mild, medium or spicy - we got mild and it was quite good. We had the Chicken Biryani and really liked it. There is a full bar in the restaurant so you can get pretty much anything to drink. There were very nice and helpful in ordering food and the owner came over to see how things were going. The other factor that impressed me is that most of the diners were Indian - always a good sign. There is a large TV screen and they were playing Indian music videos, which I thought was great for an Indian restaurant. I give it 5 stars because the food is very good and the ambiance is very Indian. And my wife had Indian ice cream which she liked very much! Give it a try! read more
