Five of us came here for dinner and two of us came early and they came by and served us water while we waited for the rest of our party. 3 of us ordered the Dhaba Special with butter chicken, lamb korma, and the chicken jalfrezi while the other two ladies ordered the chicken tikka masala and the fish madras. We all asked for spicy and the only one that was slightly spicy was the lamb korma which ended up being my favorite! With the Dhaba Special ($30 with minimum 2 people), you will also receive a small serving of chicken tikka and a vegetable spring roll as well as raita with several dips before your main comes. Come hungry because we already starting to get filled up but we persevered. The waitress was nice and asked us if we were ready for our mains before bringing them out. They brought out our rice in adorable bowl/cup. The curry was delicious, especially the lamb. Flavors were excellent with the almonds and spice. The butter chicken was a little sweet and then the chicken jalfrezi came with onions and capsicum was very tasty. The naan wasn't my favorite. It wasn't a little too thin for my taste. I am spoiled by traveling to India and living in Japan (yes, Japan has great Indian food!!). We were stuffed and couldn't finish all our food. Service was pretty nice. It was a bit cold and the door kept being left open by departing customers. After my friend got up from her seat and closed it five times, they started making sure the door stayed closed. They took all our food off our plate and didn't ask us if we wanted to take any home. You can BYO Wine for a $5 (per bottle) corkage fee. Great location in West End and would definitely go back.

And my opinion is that this is a wonderful restaurant with delicious food, a great atmosphere and wonderful service. I went with one of my friends who only likes Butter Chicken, so that is what we had, along with Naan Bread. Butter Chicken is always fantastic, and it was in this instance as well. It was a very enjoyable evening; I really have only good things to say about this place. The meals are moderately priced, around $20 for a dish. They offer excellently valued lunch specials so if you're lucky enough to be able to escape the office for a relaxed midday break, this is a great place to go.

Though the table is next to the road, it was a fairly quiet evening. Food was brought out within 10 minutes or so. Everything was hot. The naan was soft and pillowy. Rice was the perfect texture. The butter chicken was so good. And the sauce was just the perfect thickness. Also, I love when restaurants give a carafe of water so I don't have to ask for refills every 10 seconds.

One of these cultures that has become very popular of the last few years is Indian. with this we have a great selection of Indian food and one of the restaurants that has been around for ages is Sultans Kitchen Indian restaurant. It has all the usual Indian delights that we have come to love. They have great curries and good naan breads which goes hand in hand with the curry. They have something for everyone so if you cant handle spicy food you will still be fine. When we were planning our Brisbane, Australia trip, my dad read somewhere that there is a large Indian population in Brisbane so the food there is authentic and very tasty. Of course, we are always down for a good Indian meal so we walked just a few blocks from the Queen Street Mall to Indian Mehfil and got ready to indulge. We arrived there a little after 5:30pm but because it's almost winter in the southern hemisphere the sun had already set and it felt much later. The restaurant looked much fancier than we were dressed but being the hungry folks we were, we didn't let that deter us. After being greeted by the very friendly staff we found our table and looked at the menu. Of course there was quite a bit of curries to choose from and being as hungry as we were we wanted to try everything. In the end we settled on the butter chicken with a side of garlic and cheese naan bread and the lamb vindaloo (they also had a kids' menu and our less adventurous girls chose the chicken strips). You know it's going to be a good meal when upon taking our order, the waiter asks, "How hot do you want it? Medium, hot, or Indian hot?" We wisely chose medium which offered more than enough kick for us. The food came out fairly quickly and the portions were very generous. In fact, the waiter advised us that one order was probably enough to share with two people and he was very correct. Even the kids meal was big enough for both girls. Overall, it was a very, very good meal. The food was very hearty and very well seasoned. Our lamb vindaloo had large chucks of tender lamb and I almost couldn't eat all of it (almost). And the butter chicken sauce was so good you could have just poured it over the rice and that would have been plenty. The prices were very good considering the exchange rate and the fact that you could share an entree. If I'm ever in Brisbane again, this place is definitely on my list of places to eat.

The fit out is beautiful, much more glamorous than your standard Indian restaurant, the service is friendly and the beer list is very impressive. But where Indian Mehfil really shines is the food! Delectable curries and amazing flavours that left us full to bursting, and still coming back for more. Personal highlights were the eggplant curry and butter chicken, with special mention to the keema naan. Indian Mehfil may struggle to find its customers initially. But once found, I'm certain they'll keep returning. As will I.

The meal sizes were definitely a size I was happy with and one meal would happily feed me or two normal people! It's definitely more of an authentic Indian as opposed to most other Indian places. The chicken was probably just a little tough for my liking but probably the only thing I could really fault. For a quick local Indian fix I will return and would recommend friends to check it out.
