I needed to get herbs for my hair and felt weird going in this little market I never ever saw myself going into. I put on my mask and got out of the car thinking they won't have half of what I need. Boy oh Boy was I wrong! They had absolutely every herb I wanted and MORE! So much more! They helped me find what I needed and I went on my way with my long list. I crossed off all 14 items and found more herbs I hadn't yet researched. The prices were great. If I had to purchase all of this from Amazon during COVID, I would have spent 3x that amount and wait around for each package to arrive. I think I will stock up on cheap spices right before the Holidays! Not caring about how anyone saw me or treated me (they treated me fine) - I bought it all! I have been going there since 2005 when they started in the same place that Block buster was there before. This is the same shopping strip mall where Grand Mart is located. If you are looking for Indian spices, grocery, sweets, vegetables etc this is the place. The guy who owns it is a young guy named Jaspreet i think and everyone is very friendly. Only been here because of my coworkers who are Indian and live nearby. Have gotten some Cadbury Chocolate, Indian Snacks and fresh Samosas. Didn't get anything else. The location is kind of hidden in a strip mall on Muddy Branch and in a corner. But inside, the store is very organized even though the aisles might be tight. Has a decent amount of selection of items. Not too bad for an Indian store around the area. read more

Nice selection of spices at a reasonable price. People seemed friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking. I hesitate to advertise this because it will just reduce the supply for me, but they have an reasonable selection of goodies from the UK! Don't shop here. The prices don't ring properly. When you dispute it, the cashier doesn't know how to count change to refund the correct amount. The amount of time it took to try to teach the cashier basic math wasn't worth it. We ended up returning the full purchase because the cashier was so rude. read more

Pathetic customer experience. Looks like the staff and the owner do not care a bit about the customer or their needs and of course do not expect any kind of help either by the cashier or the staff especially the two ladies working. Rude ! I have been to this store a couple of times thinking it would be a better experience next time but hell NO !! You won't find basic items in the store and the staff won't apologize and are surely not pleased to answer your questions. Some of the products found were expired. I love this place! It's super clean and organized, and it's easy to find everything you need/want, even things you didn't realize you actually wanted in the first place, but decide to buy anyway because they just look that damned tasty. The staff are really nice and helpful, and the prices are awesome. I feel like an ass buying spices anywhere else - for the price of one fresh nutmeg at Whole Foods, you can buy a huge bag of them here. Good selection of ice creams - I love the rose ice cream. The ONLY thing I'd say to watch for is expiration dates - and inspect all of the fresh/frozen food (and spices) you're buying. We picked up a few moldy packages of chapati and one of the other customers saw a bag of naan in our cart and asked, "Did you check the expiry on that?" We also saw a few containers of expired spices. Nothing that doesn't happen in other stores, but something to keep in mind. And the place smells incredible. :) read more

Pros: Clean and organized, good prices, Cons: They sell expired food, and I feel they deliberately erase the expiration dates on many items (especially pickles). Also, its an Indian store, not a club, please turn down your bollywood tv's cause the music is too loud. read more

Beautiful little trinkets and bracelets available. Abundant stock of incense unlike anything I've ever seen. Disturbing lack of expiration dates on many items... Got faith? Good food is only as good as the ingredients you gather for it. For the majority of my teenage years I carried a ton of curiosity for the two words "India Bazaar." I liked this Indian grocery store. It is well stocked and clean. If you use cash to purchase, they will you 3% off of the entire purchase. One thing I did notice is that some of the products do not have expiration or manufacturing date which is a little concerning. The cashier was friendly. I went to India Bazzar today to get some authentic spices. It was my first visit. First let me say, I just recently got into Indian food so I'm not an expert on the different names of the dishes. I did find a recipe online for Indian rice that I wanted to try, hence my visit to the store. Well.... I was amazed when I walked in at the huge variety they carry. Fortunately I wrote down the ingredients I needed so it was not so difficult to find what I was looking for. The lady who checked me out was very helpful by looking at the recipe to make sure I had the right ingredients and she even gave her input on the best basmati rice. She was right I the money because I looked up Tilda Rice online and they have an excellent reputation for flavorful rice. I will go back again if I do a good job on making my rice taste like the restaurants. read more

Just visited India Bazzar for some grocery; noticed that price displayed and price charged were different; when pointed out to cashier, she became argumentative; luckily there was another person who understood my complaints and rectified the situation. Cahsier should be trained, informed and asked to be polite. I told that as a customer, i am to pay what is displayed, not discussion or arguments; I love to shop this place for ethnic groceries, but they must follow the same business practice as other do. India bazaar, Muddy branch road, gaithersburg, sells very old stock. If I brought anything, which will smells bad within a week. When I check the expiry date, it might have expired already. It means that all expiry stock close to one or two months are kept in store.Staff members are not supportive. Be careful with expiration dates on every packet rather than checking the price. read more

I have visited this place many time. We should be very care full while shopping here. even though prices shows one for one free or on sale...you will be charged full price until you pointed out. I don't understand why Yelp is hiding the bad reviews for this store as 'not recommended reviews'. I've been going to this store since we moved to Gaithersburg from Rockville just because it is closer. The store and their customer service are very bad. The prices on the labels are never reliable. The cashiers do not even apologize when you point out a price difference between the label and register price. They just charge the register price. No one in the store helps when you can't find an item which they say is available. The produce is not of the best quality. People usually buy produce at Lotte in a neighboring complex. The women cashiers are very rude and careless to screw your experience in the end. They bag the items and leave the bag for us to take it from the bagging area and just attend the next customer even when we do not finish taking our bags (this is not self checkout to leave the bags like that!). They are least helpful. I hope the manager can train them better and let them know they are dependent on the customers who they treat carelessly. read more

Manager is extremely rude. I picked up saffron which is expensive and used it a couple of times. I realized it wasn't real saffron. I called them up and the answer was - "once you open the box nothing can be done". I am surprised that they are selling colored threads as saffron and God knows what kind of color is that.
