This sorry excuse for a doctor does not give a rat's rear end about his patients, just their/their insurance companies' $$$. For my first appointment with him, which was the first time I was able to see a primary care doctor in a couple years, I needed a referral to a neurosurgeon for a very obvious spinal problem that I have from failed back surgery. Dr. Groan-felt here spends about 12 of our 15 minutes together going over my medication list (which I had gone over twice with the MA already) and then gives me the sorriest excuse of a physical "examination" I've ever seen, i.e. I got up on the table, was not even asked to remove my sweatshirt, and he listened to my heart/breathing for maybe 30 seconds, after which I was rudely dismissed. At the end of an appointment, especially for a new patient, I think most any doc would ask something along the lines of "do you have any other questions or concerns?". Dr. G? Not a chance. as soon as we hit the 15-minute mark on that appointment he handed me a lab form basically shooed me out and told me to come back in three weeks. Indignant, I asked if he was going to give me the referral to a neurosurgeon. He said we'd talk about it in three weeks, and when I pushed harder he condescendingly offered to write me an X-ray order, as if I didn't have X-rays, CTs, and two MRIs from the past year. Merely having the radiologist's reports for all of this was not enough, either, and he insisted he see the images himself before giving me the referral. What a petty, sad, miserable man to indulge in such schadenfreude. Oh, and after all that time spent going over my medications, my prescriptions never got sent in. It took six phone calls over seven days for his genius of a front office person to figure out she'd sent them to not just the wrong CVS, but one that had been closed for over a year. And the whole time she was convinced it was somehow my fault... Run far away; go see literally any other doctor.

When your own primary care doctor, and other medical personnel at the hospital say he is the best, he is! His staff is on top of everything, kind and accommodating. Dr. Mahoney listens, and spends a lot of time with you, to fully understand the issue and diagnose you, and treat you. His follow-up is fabulous. It sounds worse than it was (I was there for my shoulder, so it was almost comical). I asked for some ice for my leg and then they gave me an X-ray of my knee as a bonus to ensure I was ok. Thank goodness for that pharmacy tech, because the radiologist noted I had a loose body in my left knee. I had struggled with knee issues for the previous seven years and had run out of my allotted cortisone shots. I was staving off a knee replacement which included doing fun things like stretching my knee so I could get up after being seated, resorting to swimming as the only form of exercise I could do, and manually unlocking my kneecap after researching it on you tube. Dr. Tweet actually listened to me, including my history of knee injury from yoga. No other orthopedic doctor had. They looked at my X-rays and had tunnel vision. I had previously been told at 40 to wait until I was 55 to get a knee replacement so I'd be dead by the time the parts wore out and I wouldn't need a revision. Umm, ok..no. Dr. Tweet also ordered an MRI. I had begged my previous orthopedic doctor in LA to do so to no avail years before. The MRI confirmed my knee was a mess but Dr. Tweet advised I was a candidate for arthroscopic surgery. Knee replacement may be in my future according to Dr. Tweet but I jumped at the chance to get help that wasn't a massive joint replacement. I scheduled surgery about nine months later and was not afraid in the least because I genuinely trusted Dr. Tweet. It turned out my knee was a bigger mess than even imagined from imaging and he had to cut a new incision to extract a giant chunk of bone that had been rattling around in my kneecap and grinding down my meniscus. It's been two years since my knee surgery and I can say it was the best thing ever. Recovery was no picnic (on crutches for a week) and PT (which I asked for) was rough. But somehow I knew even walking with crutches to his office a week post-op that this was the best surgery that I could have had. I've found that rebuilding my muscles through work, rest, heat, cold, and swim therapy is the best for me (at my own pace). Slow and steady wins the race. I'm almost at my two year surgery anniversary. I'm so grateful for Dr. Tweet's expertise and compassionate care for his patients. Life changing indeed. Excuse me while I happily jump out of my chair without having to unlock my knee, thanks to Dr. Tweet.
