This was quite a lovely hotel stay. I've been to a lot of different properties in Philadelphia over the years since I have family in the area. This, by far, was the coziest and most accommodating property. Its proximity to Old City and many historical sites is unmatched. There's a buzzing nightlife right around the corner. The staff is friendly, rooms were quaint yet modern with little touches of historic details throughout. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic other than missing a meat option for folks who don't eat pork. The waffle iron leaves little liberty Bell in the center..... Such a cute touch. I'll definitely stay here again.

There are definitely things like about this hotel. The location is great near the historic district. There's plenty of lovely restaurants nearby. The elevator is updated and fast and the bed is generally comfortable in room pretty spacious for a city room. The cookie hour 4 to 6 PM is awesome. My husband really enjoyed the hot chocolate bar in the lobby, which probably was a winter thing, but a nice touch. I was pleasantly surprised to see some chocolate on the bed when we arrived because I indicated we were celebrating my birthday. That was super sweet. I'd say the staff was in between welcoming and kind of indifferent. It seemed some of the staff at the front desk, purchased on their phones and kind of not really paying much mind to people coming in and out of the hotel, which is kind of strange for a moderately priced hotel. However, some of our interactions were pleasant. Overall, I'd probably give it 3 1/2 stars but I'm raising it to four because either this place used to be better or has potential to be as good as it was. I think just some of the hospitality type stuff should improve. Like there was one interaction where someone at the front desk was on the phone (personal phone from what I could tell) and I had to really get their attention for them to realize I needed something. Like isn't this why they are sitting there? Things they could work on: the breakfast. Personally, this is one of the main reasons we chose this hotel because with a toddler, it's very important to have breakfast in the morning. I think the continental options were very subpar like things you'd get at a really cheap hotel. Also the coffee was terrible. The keurig coffee in the lobby was fine but this large carafe coffee in breakfast was awful- like literally undrinkable grinds on the bottom awful. The eggs are rehydrated. The bacon is all right, but not great. Luckily there's yogurt. Overall, I probably would stay again, but I kind of hope that things improve. This is not a budget hotel so I hope some things get better to make the stays for guests more enjoyable.

The lobby was welcoming and fresh. Loved the teal theme throughout the hotel. I didn't find the front desk staff to be very welcoming - lackluster is a better word for it. I knew there would be tea & cookies out in an hour, having read it online, but he didn't mention it. I asked where breakfast would be and he simply said "in the atrium" as if I would know where the atrium was, so then I had to ask what seemed the obvious question: "Where's the atrium?" However, the attendants at breakfast were great! Consistently refreshing food, helping and answering any questions. Bed was comfortable - amazingly worked well for my husband (who likes firm) and me (who likes softer) with a nice blanket. Good temperature in the room. We were on the top floor, and it was very quiet, despite a full hotel. I liked how safe the staircase felt so that I could get the extra exercise and not take up the one elevator. Although the few times we did take the elevator, we never had to wait long. Breakfast was what you'd expect for continental. The only complaints are 1. no green tea and 2. oatmeal was excessively watery. But lots of options: waffle maker, bagels, toast, cream cheese, yogurt, raisin bran, cheerios, bananas, plus always 3 hot items (sometimes scramble eggs, bacon, french toast, etc.). I was impressed with the french toast. Nothing really special, but solid. But the location! Right by independence park, by a slew of good restaurants & bars, and easy walk to nightlife. I'd definitely stay here next time I'm in Philly.

Standard bathroom. Great shower. Bad water pressure.

I hate to write this review because, as a frequent Philly traveler, I don't want it to sell out. However, after a good stay, I feel I owe it to them. I was not expecting much here ... I think the last time I stayed at a Best Western was during college spring break. Let's just say, that spot probably STILL wouldn't pass the black light test and Best Western doesn't have the best reputation. My choices were ... Kimpton Monaco (where I've stayed before and things are okay, but kind of blah.) Le Meridian or The Notary (which would have earned me Marriott points ... but were located in Rittenhouse Square.) I chose the BW Independence Park because it got high reviews and was in Old City. The price was also $20 less than The Kimpton, one block away. Location ... The Independence Park is located in Old City ... ironically right next to Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell, etc. A block away are several REALLY nice bars, pizza shoppes, etc. (Khyber Pass is my favourite dive bar of them all.) Many tourists mistakenly avoid Old Town because they figure since all the historical stuff is there, the nightlife must suck. Just the opposite is true. Rittenhouse Square is where most tourists flock because of The Reading Street Market. In that area, after dark, you don't have too many (safe) options for bars. During the day, you can only walk around so much and look at the fancy building. Like a Zombie movie, once the sun goes down ... it's just best to stay indoors. The hotels are a little nicer and more corporate in the city center. LOTS of Marriott hotels and the Le Meridian, Courtyard or Notary are located in absolutely beautiful converted old buildings with very grand and ornate lobbies. Comfort ... The room blew me away ... likely because of what I was expecting. The rooms look SO much better (and newer!) than in the photos online. The bed was among the most comfortable foam mattresses I've slept on all year. It was the perfect combination of soft (my preference) with slight firmness underneath. This is going to sound strange, but the carpeting, color scheme and layout of the room was very similar to many low-level Ritz Carltons I've stayed at. Calming, soothing and relaxing. Classy carpet ... stone vanity ... walk-in shower with glass doors. (no cheap tub-shower combo!) I booked the smallest room, since I was solo traveling. I think they said it was 220 sq. feet. It did feel small ... but it was designed in a way that the function was great. The tall ceilings (at least 15 feet high) and tall window treatments with thick, plush curtains and blackout shades, despite zero view, felt like a hotel that cost twice as much. I did ask to be upgraded at the desk to one of the bigger rooms ... the answer was a simple, "Um, no." Okay ... as an elite Marriott member, I'd have been in a suite, had I stayed there. But a suite in the nasty city center with nothing to do after 9 p.m. The lobby was small but also classy. It had a faux fireplace with heat. I was pretty blown away they offered a free breakfast at the standard price. It looked like standard 'Residence Inn' style food ... rehydrated eggs, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt and the standard waffle machine. The only negatives: - Walls were pretty thin and I could hear a baby crying all day. - They gave me a 30 minute late check-out at 12:30 a.m. but when I came back from a walk at 11:30 a.m. the maid was cleaning my room, even though standard check out was noon. (which by the way ... Marriott is 11 a.m. ... so kudos to BW!) - Shower pressure was terrible. It was like standing under a plant mister. A shame as the shower had plenty of space and the shower head was high. The last bit of advice I will share is that if you use Spothero, you will likely find The Bourse Garage, literally adjacent to the hotel (2 minute walk) will be around $20 - $30. The hotel charges $25 (ish) but only covers check-in until 1p.m. the next day. I paid $20 using spothero for the same garage the hotel uses and got from 7 p.m. to 7 p.m. ... a TRUE 24 hours. Also, I could access the car whenever I wanted easily vs. using a valet. Overall, I would stay here again for sure in Philly! Pro-tip ... if looking for a great cheesesteak nearby, Sonny's is a short walk and worth the calorie splurge.

Friendly staff, easy check-in. The hotel's location is perfect in the center of the old city, within walking distance of everything you need to visit. Plus, the park and garage for the hotel are also not far away. The rooms are clean, with a little fridge and coffee machine inside. The Breakfast was included, and it was decent. I enjoyed staying there!

Really excellent experience!! I don't believe I have ever had such a pleasant stay at a hotel before. What I love is that Best Western is not a chain but a franchise. This means that you really get individualized attention. For instance, we literally got a call like 10 minutes after arriving in our room asking if everything was okay and up to par. Talk about awesome! That never happens! I really want to commend and give a shout out to all of the staff there who were super helpful and friendly too. We stayed in a king size room which had such a comfortable mattress. What a great night's sleep. Beautiful big window with curtains that added a regal feel and it was spacious! We had a hallway! The room also had a fridge and microwave which was helpful when we had awesome leftover Afghani food from a local place called Kabul's! Awesome side note! ;) Everything was clean and I love that they offered eco products like their shampoo and whatnot. They seemingly thought of everything too. I literally was like, oh man! I forgot my make up remover wipes and my fiance was like, I saw them in the bathroom! Haha, score! I appreciate little details like that. Flat screen tv and desk were also in the room. Great location as well. Lots of restaurants in walking distance like Chinese, Afghani, Latin, so on and so forth. Oh, and their breakfast is noteworthy! They won me over by providing waffle makers for guests to make their own! The batter is ready to go! Breakfast included eggs, sausage, breads, cereals, yogurt, and fruit too! And, from 4pm-6pm, they have coffee, tea, and cookies in the lobby. Parking is not directly connected to the space but it is like a block or so walking distance. Not a biggie! They give you leeway to park directly out front though for like 30 mins to assist with unloading luggage and whatnot. Can't say enough great things about our stay! We will definitely be back!!!

If you know me, I love sneakers, hip hop and everything that is the culture! The decor speaks specifically to Philly icons -- Will Smith, Meek Mill, The Roots, Jilly from Philly (Jill Scott), etc. Whoever was the interior decorator did a great job with honoring those icons and the hip hop scene. The restaurant inside the hotel was great too. I don't have any complaints besides the steep valet prices. I will visit again.

There's no Diamond Lounge here, which is totally fine -- the property makes up for it with thoughtful touches, great service, and a fantastic location that puts you right in the heart of the city. We were a party of 4 in two separate cars: one party paid for parking in advance as a 'ticket and parking' package. The other did not. We arrived about 11:30 am for a Sat matinee. Lot was rather full, but more, the spaces were very narrow, which seems to be the case more often. There are only two elevators, and they also are exceedingly small, holding 5-6 adults max-which is an issue when the shows end and everyone is queued up to leave. Our biggest issue was discovering that the prepaid parking expired at 4 pm. Since we were staying for a post ballet dinner, we asked and were told that we would simply need to pay for the 1 hour difference. If only it had been simple; but no. Besides the fact that the booth attendant had a friend inside chatting to the point that we needed to honk to get attended, the attendant had no idea what to do with a prepaid ticket holder who was attempting to leave past the allotted time. Their default was charge us $30 (the rate charged the car without the prepay), making it $30 for one hour. We declined to pay that as that was not the posted hourly rate...and had to sit for more than 15 min and only due to the exceedingly long trail of cars queued behind us did the attendant finally charge the posted hourly rate and allowed us to leave. I was pleased with the accommodations and the Hyatt Globalist benefits, and the customer service was excellent! I made the reservation quickly last minute to head to the Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia just before jumping in a rideshare to head there. By the time I arrived, I was informed that due to my Globalist status that I was upgraded into an Executive Suite with a king bed (in literally an hour or less since I made the reservation). Compared to a 234 square foot 1 King Bed Corner room, the Executive Suite with 1 king bed is 546 square feet. The Corner Suite, 1 Bedroom Suite, and Presidential Suite are all a bit larger, but I really felt that I had two rooms even though you could see from one part of the suite to the other easily. The decor was quite modern with floor-to-ceiling windows, a plush king bed, a chic sitting area with a sleeper sofa, and a modern bathroom with walk-in shower. There was also a 60" flat screen TV, blackout shades, mini-fridge, and more. I also took advantage of the Chromecast option to connect the TVs with your phone and also the comfortable robes while staying there. The hotel was in the heart of Rittenhouse Square with historic streets and nearby parks and restaurants. The front desk staff were most helpful and very friendly upon my arrival. As my toiletries and luggage were still at the airport and unable to be retrieved, I received samples of most toiletries upon checking in, and what they didn't have, they directed me to a nearby CVS. They also walked me through the Globalist benefits including the complimentary breakfast, that I was able to take advantage of at Patchwork Philly right on the same floor as the check-in. I did have to take an elevator up a floor from the entrance to get to the lobby, front desk, and restaurant. It was easy to navigate the hotel, and I felt right at home. The hotel lobby is on the second floor along with a bar. There is also a rooftop bar here, which we did not get a chance to check out but seemed popular. There's a balcony on the second level you can have a drink on or just walk out to get fresh air. Our room was very nice. Typical smaller city hotel style but updated and clean. The bathroom was large, Bluetooth speakers around the mirror, and the room was perfect for our needs. We were on the 12th floor which gave great city views from our window. The hotel was on the smaller side which I prefer and overall, I would definitely recommend staying here. I'll be going back.

After checking in and being sent to the 15th floor with my wheelchair bound mother, I found the shower was not the "roll-in" shower we were promised. After venturing back down to the first floor the front desk person on duty (who bless him tried to be helpful) wasn't aware of what rooms were available that could accommodate us. He eventually put us in a suite on the 7th floor. Sounds like an upgrade right? Nope. After getting mom settled, and letting her shower, I realized there was only one bed. There was also a sofa bed. Greaaaaat. The sofa itself was filthy (see photos), and the mattress itself (see photos) was worse. I also tried to get a cup to get water to give to my mom to take her medicines and the cup (see photos, admittedly hard to see) looked like it had water staining on it. I've contacted Choice Hotels about this horrible experience, but haven't heard back. I did however get an email asking how my experience with Resolution Specialist MJ was. So that's nice, no one contacted me, and they pretended that they did (see photo). I don't know how this place is allowed to operate. Stay far away from this place. Far Far Far Away

We had a quiet king room (no city view). No fireworks noise, though you do hear street noise. The room was on the larger side of small, but everything felt dated: furnishings, curtains, headboard, phone, fixtures, linens, towels -- all very '90s, including the tub/shower combo. The carpet was dingy and it definitely needs a refresh (ask for slippers). Room service came in a bag instead of on a tray, which made eating for two a little awkward. We had our two small dogs with us, and while the hotel itself is very dog-friendly (which we appreciate -- it's why we usually choose Kimptons), the immediate area really isn't. It's busy, loud, and there's no grass nearby. Rittenhouse Square is a short walk away, but when it's 12° outside, that's not exactly a practical solution. Food was average, the postcard station is super cute, and overall it feels like a solid 3-star hotel where you're paying for the location and the staff more than the room itself.

I knew I was communicating with a real person who would be dedicated to ensuring my arrival would feel special. While I was there, I asked for a tour of the hotel and was guided by the director of sales and marketing who pointed out so many of the unique architectural details of the building. It was a lovely tour full of little moments of visual pleasure. The hotels located in Rittenhouse Square area and a comfortable walk to restaurants. Tonight I'll be dining on site and will update this review at a later point. THE GUESTROOM: The guest room is very comfortably appointed and considering it is a downtown city hotel, quite spacious with wall-to-wall windows that lead in natural sunlight, even on a dreary winter day like today. There's ample closet space and a comfortable writing desk with numerous ports for charging and Efficiency.

All of the best eateries are within walking distance to the hotel; and if that's too much, a lot of restaurants provide delivery via their own drivers or through third parties (i.e. DoorDash, UberEats, etc.). The higher floors present a great view of city hall. It's even better when it lights up green after an Eagles win. My room also had a comfortable king size bed and complimentary sweet treats and champagne. With that being said, it was not my favorite luxury hotel stay compared to other Ritz-Carltons. Driving up to the hotel was confusing as there were no signs outside for the main entrance and the valet team was nowhere in sight. Usually, they would approach the car to help with luggage, but once they appeared they stayed huddled together and I had to approach them with my luggage and car keys. Once inside with my car sorted, check in was slightly busy, but I was able to get to my room within 10 minutes. The room was clean and smelled great, but the hallway showed the building's age. Throughout my stay there were additional inconveniences. The bathroom had cheap toilet paper and loud plumbing. The shower wouldn't produce hot water, even at 4am, so I had to take warm showers. The walls are very thin. I could hear my neighbor on a business call at 7am, and I could hear people in the hallway. The only guaranteed quiet a guest would likely have is if they booked a suite and stayed in the room furthest away from the hallway. Last, the Fitness Center was at least 78°. There were two box fans that failed at circulating cool air, and my attempt to be active was very uncomfortable. I love Ritz-Carltons, but the low quality service and offerings felt like a Courtyard impersonating one of Marriott's luxury brands and it was very disappointing. Cheap toilet paper and box fans should not exist inside a Ritz-Carlton. If it weren't for the view and spacious room, my rating would be lower.
