Enjoyed some great music on the golf course on a Friday evening from 6-9pm for $5 enjoyed the band Adrian Duke Project. They were so entertaining. They did have food and drinks available. A fun night. read more

My hubby and I came here for a Lexus event and it was gorgeous! There was a Tokyo theme and the club did a remarkable job with the decor and festivities! The grounds had taken a hit From a recent storm, but the manager informed us that they were looking towards July to have things back to normal. In spite of that, the grounds were lovely and well groomed! The catering was flawless! The servers were constantly clearing glasses and offering hors d'oeuvres with grace and aplomb. The food was masterfully prepared, the potstickers, the fried rice, the sushi (my hunny loved it) - all of it was fab! I'd recommend this club for any gathering, business meeting, wedding, party... they go above and beyond to make any event a memorable occasion! read more

From start to finish, from the pro shop, coffee shop to the meal at Tavern 19 it was simply perfect. Golf course is challenging, playable, well maintained and stunning. Independence is a very well run golf course and facility - but do y'all have a man named Joe Smith that's a cart guy/Marshall? Probably the rudest person I've ever encountered. Not only did he yell at my group thinking I was someone else, when I asked him about it later he cursed me out and when I asked his name to report him he said "joe f*** smith" probably not his actual name but insane way to treat a customer that paid for gold and was also touring there for a wedding. Beautiful Country Club with breath-taking views. Wanna feel like a pro, play on a course that built for the pros.

For a public course in the Richmond area this is one of the best. It borders on public/private and wouldn't be surprised if they tried to go private one day (although they really have started drawing a lot of the public into the clubhouse so don't know how much that would benefit them). They recently updated the course making it a little less hard (it had a lot of bunkers that were strategically placed to make it difficult when it was owned by the Virginia Golf Association). They also still have the par 3 course which is great for training and they have an excellent kids program. They have completely redone their clubhouse - adding much needed banquet facilities. Their tavern 19 restaurant has become a neighborhood favorite for a casual bar and grill in the area. read more

Review for the golf course only. Played here a couple of weeks ago for the Publinks qualifier. First off the fairways are terrible. They're half grass half dirt (or mud as was my case). I guess the long winter hit them hard, but I knew it was bad when someone working there warned us about them. Apparently they're using a strain of Bermuda grass that isn't even distributed anymore. You will get a better lie in the rough than the fairway. All the low parts of the course are also muddy, such as just off the greens. Aside from that, the greens are okay. They are a little slow and don't break as much as you would think (pro tip). The course itself has a beautiful layout with the majority of the trouble left. The driving range and practice areas are beautiful. Two putting greens, one chipping green, and a big driving range. There's also another side to the range which is where they probably do club fittings and lessons. There is also a par 3 course, but I didn't play it. In summary, if they reseed the fairways with something that will take hold and grow, I would come back in a heartbeat. Until then I would stay away from this course for now. read more

We had the best experience at Independence Golf Course! Everything was so beautiful and ran so smoothly. Megan was so helpful and always available during the planning process. We gave her free rein when it came to decoration & decor, we just let her know our vision and she made it happen. We also had our rehearsal dinner at IGC and it was so beautiful. We also rented the cottages the night before for our bridal parties and it was perfect and so cute - we had no complaints!! The honeymoon suite was also a great addition and so convenient! I highly recommend IGC to anyone in the Richmond, VA area! read more

Course is in absolutely fantastic shape! Greens were fast & true. Not a ball mark on them anywhere.

Surprisingly good golf course! Green were in amazing condition considering it is mid February. Ferways were brownish because it is Bermuda grass. Clubhouse look great and the pro shop folks were very friendly. I would play ot again, given the chance. read more

Course is in rough shape right now. I would wait another month before playing. $90 is a bit much for a course that is probably the worst in Richmond. Not sure what's happening but I hope warmer weather gets things back in shape. read more

Independence cancelled our son's wedding celebration. Even though we had signed a contract and paid for the venue, and signed a contract and paid half for the accommodations they cancelled us stating that they double booked. Horrible experience! read more
