We chose Tolsma Auto Body based on the Yelp reviews and the initial estimate…read more We are new to the Treasure Valley. We had a parking lot mishap where a stub of concrete that was not very visible caught the front bumper of my wife's car and shredded the bottom edge of the driver's side as well as pulled that part of the bumper away from the body. Tony Tolsma is a nice man. He looked at our car and gave us an estimate for $1460. Since we had already received an estimate for about $1860 from another well reviewed auto body shop, we went with Tolsma. Ernestine is the office assistant that we communicated with for the repair. When we brought the car in, on a Tuesday, she said she thought the car would be ready by Friday. My wife called on Friday and was were told that there were issues with getting some parts, and the car would be ready on Monday. I understand that things happen. My wife called on Monday morning. Ernestine said she would have to call the parts people. She said she would call us back but didn't. My wife called again later and was told that the car would be ready by 1:30. We arrived at 1:30 and the car was parked outside, ready to go. My wife noticed that the color of the repair was not a perfect match to the rest of the car, though Tony told us that his painter was excellent at matching colors. When we went into the office, Tony told us this was because of the difference in colors on plastic vs metal. Otherwise, the repair looked good. We were shocked when the bill came to $1950, about $500 over the initial estimate. When we inquired, Tony matter-of-factly told us that he had thought the bumper part included the bottom spoiler, and he was mistaken, hence the higher cost. We thanked him, paid, and left. I knew that my wife was upset about the cost of the repair being so much more than the initial estimate, especially since we were paying out-of-pocket. I was unhappy as well. We are on a fixed income and, to us, $500 is a lot of money. I called Tony later and thanked him for being a nice man and for fixing our vehicle, but expressed my disappointment that the cost of the repair was so much more than his initial estimate. I told him that we should have been alerted to this prior to the repair so we could at least have been prepared. He thanked me for my call, acknowledged that he should have communicated better with us, and apologized, but did not offer to adjust the bill. My biggest problem with all of this is that Tony did a poor job of assessing the scope of the repair. Had we known that Tolsma was going to charge us $1950, we would have gone with the other auto body shop, which included the spoiler part in their initial estimate of $1860. If we need any auto body work in the future, we will not return to Tolsma.

I called "7" tow company's, they said; it's to far, called someone in Ontario and said call someone in Caldwell, they didn't have a big enough vehicle for my passengers and Great Dane, their tow truck was out of commission, some didn't even know where I was when I described where I was. The company's I called seemed like they were annoyed and it was a Saturday evening burden. I went down the list on google and called Tolsma. Bill was very friendly, told me how much is would be, told me 30 min and arrived with his monster towing truck on time. Bill even stopped 2x, once to pick my passengers up that were getting food ahead at the truck stop, and the 2nd to drop off at my passengers house to get her car. The process was smooth once Tolsma pick up. Thanks Bill

They did have some ordering issues but kept me in the loop the whole time. The reason I gave them 3 stars is because I had a bag of coins in the center console when I turned it in. When the car was returned to me, the bag of coins was not there. I didn't notice it since it has been in there for a while but I knew it was there. I knew it was there because the day after I turned the car in, I forgot I had my money clip in the center console. So I went over there and picked it up. It was at that time I saw the bag of coins. I didn't take it out because it was just coins. I know that they say take out anything of value and personal stuff but it was just a bag of coins. But it is the principle of it. If they are willing to take....no steal this... then they are willing to take or steal something else. Who would want that kind of person working for them? It just show who they are as a person. They might do great work but I don't know if I can resist going back to them or referring them to others. I'm just glad I went back for my money clip or that too would have been gone. To the person who reads this from the company... I gave you a great review through Geico but that was before I found out this item was stolen. I am not looking for anything. I just want you to be aware that you have at least one person in your company that is willing to steal. We drop off our cars to you to fix them and trust that it is safe.

She looked at the vehicle and had the shop make temporary repairs so that we could go on vacation. Gave us a very reasonable estimate for the repairs and scheduled us for after our vacation when the pars would also be in. During vacation, we had some additional minor accident damage. When we returned from vacation we took the car in for the initial repairs. Again, working with Taylor, she said give me an extra day and we will get it all fixed. Again, the additional repairs were quoted at a very reasonable cost. All the repairs were done, can't tell there ever was any damage. All the staff was very friendly! Karcher Auto Body is the kind of place that you hope you never have to go to but is the very best if you have to. Most of all, Taylor is the best, most helpful and know auto body!

Over $7500 in repairs to include new bumper, hood, grill, radiator, fan, sensors, headlight housing etc. Got my car back after 3 weeks. Wrote on the hood that I wanted my headlight bulbs back, since they were new. I did not get them back. The first time I was told my car was ready.. I did the walk through and they missed a small section of paint on the bumper and the bumper appeared loose, was told it was fine. Picked it up Friday, was going to bring it back Monday for redo of paint on the bumper, and something else that they missed. Made it to Boise before my car was overheating and was getting high temp warnings. Was fine when driving, but stopped/slow traffic wasn't good. Made it back to Nampa when I realized the bumper was coming off, pushed it back into place. Got back home, and had it towed back to them. About 2 weeks later, was told it was ready again... went to pick it up and the entire front grill was scratched up from what appeared to be a worker's belt rubbing. Left it there for them to fix again. Another week down, had them check the clips on the bumper, was told everything was fine. Picked it up, drove to Boise, car was still overheating... slower this time, but went above halfway point after sitting 15 minutes. Also, the hood seemed to be lifting. Called them again, pissed. I told them they were going to give me a rental car, because I can't keep driving a long bed truck around Boise. They then had a tow company pick up the car Saturday to have it taken to anywhere we wanted. Had it taken to the Toyota dealership to be reviewed by all the techs, on Monday. Turns out, they never plugged the FAN INTO THE RADIATOR!!! Plus the hood wasn't at the correct angle or tightened all the way. Bumper was still missing some clips. Car was ready by that late morning, but had to wait another day and half for insurance to figure out who was paying. The shop was decent at attempting to resolve the situation... but failed to actually follow through and ensure the job was done correctly the first time, which they had 3 tries to actually get it right! Took over 2 months to finally get my car back. They did finally order me new headlight bulbs to replace the ones we never got back. (I spent $100 on 40,000 lumen bulbs). An absolute nightmare and Sh**show for no reason, with no regard to safety of the client or others on the road.... who doesn't fully secure a bumper that was just replaced?!?! Do not recommend!!
