Unlike other makeup artists who often only do one look, Steph is great at it all - natural, smoky, glam, soft/romantic, Halloween. It was very clear she executes the vision of each individual client. Before our trial I explained that I was feeling particularly vulnerable due to a medical condition that slightly changed the appearance of my eyes. She assured me that she knew tricks and techniques we could try to help me feel more like myself. I also explained that I have various allergies, and she was so mindful and respectful of my needs. Our trial was incredibly enjoyable. We decided to explore a smoky eye look, and I loved it! She instructed me to look in the mirror multiple times so that I could see how the look was progressing and tell her what I did/didn't like so that the end result was exactly what I wanted. She also did the make-up for my bridesmaid & my mom. She was able to work with all types of complexions. She was on time, she was patient with me ( I was very nervous) & she even stayed a to retouch my make-up.A few months later I decided to hire Susan again , but this time was for her incredible individual self apply make-up class ( she does groups now as well). At the time of the first trial, Anita was initially friendly despite asking intrusive questions of my husband and I, her belching and passing gas. While I understand that that's a natural occurrence, there's a professional way to handle yourself. At the time of the second trial, I had to re-explain several things which made me a little uneasy going in but I thought I could trust Anita's experience for my big day. Anita did go out of her way to come straight from another wedding and work with me early in the morning, which I appreciate. However, Anita was sick the morning of my wedding and had the runs - made several trips to the bathroom while I was getting ready, and was also again belching and passing gas throughout which was really unpleasant. That added to the fact that I woke up with a huge rash delayed us from the start time to take photos. My rash set aside, Anita did not properly match my foundation to my skin and contour/blend properly so I have no up close photos of my wedding that I can use without significant photo shopping to them. There was too much of an orange undertone in the combination of foundation and contour she used - despite the MANY products of all colors I provided to her to use. There were several issues with our photographer as well, but the issues with Anita's makeup job made it all a lot worse. While I understand that things can happen, Anita was not professional throughout the experience. To make it worse, 1 year later on the day of my anniversary Anita Shah text messaged me to tell me to stop spreading lies about the fact that she was sick on the day of my wedding and this made us late, and the photos didn't come out good due to her makeup. I had shared that with another makeup artist (also a piece of work) to vent about what was so difficult on my wedding day, it was not at all a lie. Our team from the day of our wedding, my husband and friends can attest to what occurred. To message someone on their anniversary day with such negativity and accusation, after not being professional on the day of their wedding is not only unprofessional, it's inconsiderate, self centered and out right nasty. If you want to work with someone whose heart is truly in the business of helping people on their special days, then don't go with Anita Shah.
