Mount Gorkha - Mushroom sauce (€0,70)

We dropped in on a Saturday (around 10:30pm) and it was empty. The one person working was grouchy and didn't look like he wanted to be there. The menu consists of Belgian fries, burgers, snacks, skewers, pita/kebab/durum and hot dishes. The biryani (€15,70 to €18,70) is easily the most expensive I've seen in my life. - Momos (€8,00 for 10) - you can pick between chicken and vegetarian. We went with the former along with a side of momo sauce (€1,30). The momos were decent with a good bite to the wrapper but we saw him take them out frozen. Takes 10-12 minutes to cook. Wouldn't say they're the real deal but the sauce is what made these good; slight unexpected heat to it. - Belgian fries (€2,40) - we added a curry ketchup (€0,70) which everyone liked. Similar to what you get with German currywurst. Fries were okay but they could have been crispier. Our friend ordered a mushroom sauce (€0,70) which he didn't care for but I didn't mind it. Late night spot to grab a few snacks and bites.

The family that runs it is lovely and friendly, and the younger daughter speaks perfect English. We tried the kip pitta (chicken), vegetable biryani, and the frites. All were quite tasty, especially the biryani, which was made fresh. The spicy sauce on the pitta was delish. They offer beer and a good selection of other beverages. Like in most of Belgium, beer is less expensive than coffee or water. Note that "rouge" beer in Belgium isn't like an American red ale - it's cherry!

This was a delightful experience from start to finish…read more After a day of strolling around Gent and working up an appetite, we landed on Himalayan. What a great choice that was. First and foremost, our server was bright, cheerful and caring, with a warm greeting at the door. As my dining companion had begun losing her voice, our server commented on my choice of drinking a cold beverage and said to my friend, "I'll make you a perfect warm tea" -- and "perfect" it was! The food was great, the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. Although we found ourselves lost in conversation and still there beyond closing time, we were never rushed or hurried -- only welcomed with smiles. Five stars for the overall experience along with bonus stars for the lovely service and making us feel special. A personal note to our server directly: "Thank you for creating a special moment for us." Until next time...

After 45 minutes no meal, no water and no silverware, yet waitstaff were all around us, somewhat busy but not so busy that other tables that came in much later than us received prompt service. After 45 minutes we got our meal, and I asked why we never got water. She seemed indifferent and left but never came back with water or silverware yet continued to wait on new and existing patrons around us. I finally went to to checkout area to ask about water and silverware, after which we finally received even a few more minutes wait. The chicken curry dish was not bad but the service and attention to detail on our order was very bad.

Wow, what a great find (albeit more pricey than I'd expected)! Mum and I were in town to check out…read morethe World Press Photo 2018 Winners exhibition being held at the WTC, and afterward, wanted to have an Indian Vegetarian dinner, before heading back to Amsterdam. This restaurant popped up with the high reviews, and it was also perfectly situated in between the WTC and Rotterdam Centraal station. We made our way up an elevator to the restaurant (there's two restaurants here, one Indian and one Chinese) and the dining room is a massive, well laid out and luxurious space. Our meal consisted of the following items: 1) Papads with chutney as an amuse bouche - there were two papad and served with a trio of chutneys. I loved the mango chutney while my mum liked the yogurt more. We were indifferent about the mint chutney. 2) A little tomato soup as starter - this was sent to us compliments of the chef and it was delicious. A mix between soup and tomato water with a beautiful curried taste twisting thru each sip 3) Aqua Panna (25ml aka small bottle) which was €2.20 - ouch thought this was expensive. 4) Vegatable Saffron Korma came which came with Yogurt (€18) - this was a wonderful medley of vegetables in a beautifully creamy sauce. Very tasty and my mum's fave dish. 5) Apple Brinjal (eggplant/ aubergine) masala (€17) - I've never heard of this combination before and it was so amazing! The tartness of the apple cut thru the earthiness of the eggplant. My fave dish of the night! 6) Vegetable Biryani (€17.50) - The taste of the vegetables used was very similar to the Saffron Korma. If we hadnt had the Korma, would have enjoyed the Biryani better. 7) 1 Tandoori Roti (€3.95) - pretty decent and well-cooked, but a bit on the small size. It's not a 5-stars, despite how good the food was, because of some issues with service. Firstly, we'd ordered a 2nd Tandoori Roti, which never came. Second issue was when instead of the Vegetable Biryani we had ordered, we actually served the Chicken Biryani instead, and we flagged the waiter to get this corrected. Thirdly, the Vegetables used in the Biryani were also massively similar in taste to the Korma, so that was a double up with the same taste, rather than the Veg Biryani having its own distinct flavours. I'd definitely came again however, cause the food flavours were fantastic and innovative. Among the best Indian food I've eaten and looking forward to trying other items on the menu. Yelp 35/ 2019
