This is a good place near city center Ghent to get Indian fare. The location is great and the menu offers familiar favorites. The food is tasty, the service is good and the atmosphere is quite pleasant. The prices are not bad considering the quality of the experience. The menu offered several of my favorites. To start, I opted for the Lentil Soup, which was very good. For my mains, I chose the Tandoori Mix Sizzler and the Chana Masala (as a side dish). Both were excellent. I had enough Tandoori left over for lunch later in the week. As an accompaniment, I also had the Pikante Naan, which was a great choice. To finish, I had a Masala Chai, which was nicely prepared. Overall, this is a very good spot in a great location for Indian fare. I would not hesitate to recommend this place if you are in Ghent and fancy Indian food.

We took a break from Belgian/European cuisine and dined at India Palace…read more They have a really enticing vegetarian menu with a bunch of options. We started with the vegetarian appetizer platter. One of the first things I noticed is how cheap their menu is. It is less surprising when you see the portion sizes. The vegetarian appetizer "platter" is one samosa, two tofu strips, and a few fried ball-like things. Everything was good, especially the samosa, other than the "ball-like" things that were too oniony for me. Two of my dining partners ordered the lentil soup which I was able to sample, and it was very good. We tried a few different things to share including a bunch of their vegetarian curries including saag, the lentil one whose name escapes me at the moment, and a chickpea one with tofu. We also ordered vegetable biryani. If you can believe it, I somehow forgot to order naan. I don't know if it's just because I have really excellent Indian food in places where I live and have lived or I am just accustomed to a different palate or flavors but I did not like the biryani, it was almost sweet. The curries were varying levels of meh to good but nothing to write home about. The staff were very friendly and provided great service. The food came out promptly but not too promptly. Goldilocks promptly. We weren't able to finish everything but declined take away boxes because we were staying in a hotel, the staff member asked us for feedback on the food, assuming we didn't like it. "You can tell me". How wholesome is that??? The food is a 3.5 but the service bumps the overall rating up to a 4.

It's been a long time since we enjoyed authentically tasting Indian food in Our hometown. The cook who is from Delhi prepares well presented, truly succulent dishes. Good range of vegetarian choices too. The service is very attentive. Prices are OK. If you are looking for an Indian restaurant in Ghent, don't miss India Palace!
