I booked a test 5 days in advance and turned up to find they hadn't ordered in the necessary kit. I was left waiting for 40 minutes while some poor overworked staff member (who was very nice and apologetic) hunted desperately for the kit between seeing other patients. In addition she told me I was supposed to have fasted before this particular test, which had not been mentioned when I booked the test. I was told to call first thing Monday to re-book and that with 24 hours notice they could have a kit in by Tuesday. Called back on Monday to find no-one manning the phones so called the general enquiries line where I was told the staff at the centre should have re-booked me on the spot, and also that there were no bookings available until 11 days later (meanwhile I'm trying to get diagnosed so I can be treated for a condition that's causing significant discomfort). At this point I gave up and tried a different pathology company, who had the test kits onsite, immediately booked me for the following morning, and gave me full instructions on fasting and preparation. read more
