My wife is…read more9 months pregnant, it was her birthday, we never did an escape room but talked about trying one...way not lets do it ! so we gathered a group of friends, I choose the POP- an 80's theme escape room that was perfect for us 80's kids :) The room is for one hour, it took us almost 55 min (with 3 clues) boy what a fun experienced I loved every minute of it can wait for my next escape room, and this place will defiantly be my choice extremely well organized, very themed and cool staff.

We picked the game The wizard four and the book of black arts which is for 4-10 players and they recommend at least 8 people to do this room. Everyone gets a wand to start that is used to activate various different parts and items in the room. The game master is also part of the story and if you need any help or guidance you can do so by calling out the name of the character. I love that they integrate it into the game, all other escape rooms I've done you just get a walkie talkie. It was a great experience and moderately challenging. I recommend! *Slight spoilers ahead* I also loved that they had an actor be a part of the experience, it added a layer of theatricality that I haven't seen in other escape rooms. Usually the person who lets you in the room is dressed up or is part of the explanation of the room but rarely have I seen them be in the room later on as part of the story. The only criticisms I have about the rooms is that when we solved a puzzle or unlocked an area, it wasn't obvious where the change happened so we needed to be reminded to look around because we had accomplished something and there was a clue to pick up but there was no announcement so we never knew if it had worked or not. There was also a puzzle that was completely in the dark so it was necessary for me to use my phone which usually is a big no for escape rooms but it was truly too dark to see. We wasted maybe 10 minutes trying to find this last clue so I believe we could've solved the room a lot faster had we known. There is no timer in the room but you can always ask the game master to let you know how much time is left. We solved it with 8 minutes to spare!

Our room was the lab room - the story goes a mad scientist broke up with his lover and threatened to blow up the world- you have 35 mins to unlock the main door to his lab and find the code to deactivate the bomb. Our belongings were locked up in a cabinet including all phones. The instructions were explained to us at the beginning of the game (which weren't clear at all). We pretty much flipped the whole room over, with 6 mins to spare -realizing we still had 1 room left. You get two free clues by pressing a buzzer in the assigned room. For additional clues you lose one minute per clue. I may try out other escape games from a different company that reveal the clues more in a sequential manner.

This is a review for the VR game Beyond Medusa's Gate by Ubisoft. Ok this was seriously a lot of…read morefun. It was my first time playing with a VR game and we were a group of four. The game was just hard enough to be interesting but not so hard that it's demoralizing. Apart from the game, there's not much to describe in terms of the room since, well, it's all in the VR!! The yellow room we got had windows on one side and was overlooking the street. There's sufficient space in there for four people such that you won't bump into each other. You can go without glasses when you put on the headset since the image is up close. Because this is a group game, just swivel up one of your headphones so you can hear your teammates talking as you'll need to work together. Since you have to physically bend down to pick stuff off the ground you can't really sit. And since you use the controls to "walk" by teleporting from one place to another, I'd recommend wearing comfy shoes because you'll literally be standing still for the whole game. Overall a really cool experience to test out VR before committing to a headset/games. I'd love to go back and try out the other games!

My crew and I are no novice when it comes to escape rooms. We take pride in successfully completing…read morethe scenarios given to us. So you could imagine us as an overly confident (read: turbulent) team in front of an enthusiastic game master. We played the Nightfall scenario, which lasts for 60 minutes normally. We appreciate the fact that "pre-hints" were offered on a clipboard, but in the end were not necessary for the completion of our mission. There is enough to keep two sub-teams busy (which, like any other escape room game, is a shame, because you might miss an interesting opportunity to contribute). Not to spoil the surprise, but there were a few items that were discovered "by chance", although there may have been good logic behind it. We appreciated the sound indicator whenever a clue was successfully achieved, a nice touch compared to the competition. In the end, we finished third on the leaderboard, with 26 minutes to spare (which is pretty disappointing for us, you can imagine). We discovered this place through Tuango, which cut down the price to around 20$ per person, which is a decent price for the experience we got. This is obviously a place that's just starting, so we will cut them some slack on some items that were low-key. The other scenario Shelter 2039 is also intriguing, so we will definitely check it out in the future!

The instructions were clear and the facility was clean and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to make this a very positive experience. The clues were in both French and English. You get one hour to solve the room and you get clues at regular intervals. If you get stuck, you can waive at the camera for an additional clue. We only used this lifeline once and it really helped! Make a reservation and plan to want to do more than one room. It is 100% worth it! Good for all ages - even my 10 year old felt that he could contribute his skills to the puzzles. Next time we are back, we will try Casino. Come to Boston!!! It was SO much fun!!!

We had plans for an escape room last year but unfortunately our plans had to change due to…read moreunforeseen circumstances, so we ended up going this year. L O C A T I O N Escape Masters is located in a building with other companies. We luckily parked on a side street and entered off the side of the building and it was right there. I N S I D E They do have a restroom, but that in itself was a maze/test to get to. Good thing they do have signs. When you do arrive, they ask you to leave your shoes at the door as it is winter in Montreal and mud/wetness on shoes can ruin their rooms. So make sure you have socks on. They have an area to place your jackets. E S C A P E R O O M When you arrive, you get checked in. They describe what you can/cannot do in the room in terms of rules. They explain there are clues on QR codes which you can look up without penalty but they do have a scale on the sign which tells your level if you do or do not use a clue. We did the Missing Agent's Apartment (Appartement de l'agent disparu). According to their site, it's average in difficulty. We had 4 in our group and I think you can totally do this with just two people. We finished in about 29 minutes. Yeah. Although it was still fun, the room basically had everything out and nothing really hard to throw you off or get you off on a tangent. As long as you logic your way through the game, then you can easily get through the room with time to spare. Some of the clues were a little lame and others were clever. O V E R A L L I think this was too easy for us. Did we still have fun? Sure, but not much of a challenge. Kind of wish we just bought another game while we were there though not sure if they'd let us as you have to reserve a time slot. Other than that, for an escape room, it was just eh.
