After careful consideration, we decided that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu would be the best thing for him, and the choices in the valley are somewhat limited that way. Most everything is Taekwondo... Any who, we checked out Flashback after speaking to one of the owners, Jina. We gave it a week's trial, and really love the fun way coach Jesse and Jina (husband & wife) teach the classes. They are playful and very nice, but firm and expect respect from the kids. It was perfect for my son. There is plenty of 1-1 training too, and great examples, in addition to daily sparing where the kids get to put what they learned to the test. Though we were not able to continue to go due to personal reasons, which was quite unfortunate, I would go back in a heartbeat if possible. My wife and son loved it otherwise. If you have a child (or yourself as an adult) wants to learn self-defense and a martial art's system that will be superior to Taekwondo and other forms of karate, then check this place out!

What makes it so great? The people!!! We drive out of our way for this particular program. They know kids and how to relate with kids. We originally enrolled our daughter at a young age to assist her in developing her coordination and confidence. She's learning that she can do anything. Last fall she was a third grade female, jr. Pee Wee football player. It never occurred to her that this isn't mainstream. In the same breath, she rocks a delicate yoga pose. I went to a open house type event and I tried arial yoga and it was so cool! I wasn't sure if I would like it, sounded a bit scary, but it was a blast and easier than I thought, especially for me due to my plantar fasciitis. Standing for regular classes is very hard for me and arial yoga was not painful or difficult. Deb walked around to make sure everyone was comfortable and even gave us some essential oil to relax. The classes are typically dimmed lighting, with soothing music and quiet voices. I met some really great people there as well. I haven't been back in a while due to health issues that make it hard to do much fitness at all, but I hope to go back in the future. They also have really affordable prices. They have packages for just about anyone, single classes, and various memberships. They have merchandise to buy such as clothing and yoga mats as well.
