We knew the size, the appropriate BTUs and even the approximate cost. We made the rounds; Lowe's, Home Depot, Sears, PC Richards and a handful of others by phone. We checked the various products on line as well. We had a salesman at one of these stores tell us we had better act fast because this is going to be the warmest summer ever. (Thanks for the heads up. I'm also deeply concerned about global warming and polar bear migration, but for now an 8200 BTU AC unit is my focus and I'll battle the other problems in a different arena.) We called Palumbo's and we were treated with courtesy, respect and not subjected to over blown sales pitches. The salesman took our information, researched the available products and called us back with a price. There was no bartering, no high pressure sales pitch, just answers to our questions. The price we were quoted on a GE air conditioner was much cheaper than what we had been quoted elsewhere. In two days the unit was delivered, installed and the old one hauled away for a fair price. It pays to treat customers right. We need other appliances for the condo and we will be getting them at Palumbo's.

It was delivered 2 weeks after I went in and paid for them. On install I asked if they can change the doors so that the dryer was on the left but was told its better the way it is now. They were in a rush and i figured f it... ill do it. 2 days later after install we noticed water in the pedestal. called them and was told not our problem call Electrolux. Had a repair guy come a few days later and said the hose that fills tub was cracked possibly due to someone dropping the unit. They replaced the hose but water had sprayed inside the washer all over componets and still had about an inch of water in bottom of unit that he couldnt get to but said it would evaporate fast. Washer worked for a few days then one day i heard it start by itself... called elecrolux again and repair guy came and said it was the control board. changed it a week later cause he had to order it. Was fine for about another week after board was changed then again, machine started by itself again.... anyway this went on for another 6 months on and off and had more down time then use time. Finally after 9 months of nothing but problems and going back and forth with Electrolux they warrantied it for a replacement. Said original company would replace and install at no charge. Called appliance galley and woman in office said she heard no such thing and they have to wait for a letter from them to replace and then they would have to send a unit to appliance galley for me. Called Electrolux and they said email and letter was already sent and that AG will replace unit from there stock and they get reimbursed from Electrolux. Call AG again and woman answered again statin " that's not how this works and they will not use their stock. LOL. Your a dealer of company why? Again its not our problem. I had to spend another 2 months back n forth fighting and had electrolux hire a company other than APPLiance GALLERY to come deliver washer and install. 11 months after purchase i finally have a working machine . I will never do business with this company nor recommend these nasty ppl. even the owner never returned my calls. Owner, son and woman in office are horrible ppl.... stay far away!

The entire staff are so very helpful. They provide a more personalized level of service. Their prices are most times better than the big box stores. As luck would have it my most recent purchases included a refrigerator that had some problems. Fred is the owner and also does most of the service calls. He has been in the buisness forever and has a vast array of knowledge. He is amazing in every way imaginable. Positive Customer Service does not even come close to describing Fred. Unfortunately the refrigerator was not repairable and needed to be replaced. Fred and his staff took care of every aspect of the swap and install of the replacement. Fred's upbeat attitude and never giving up and wanting my experience to be positive made what could have been a very negative situation ok. The place is in its third generation of family ownership, and has been seriously spruced up in the intervening years. Our 40 year old side by side refrigerator finally gave up the ghost last week (compressor) and it was time for a replacement, as parts for these old contraptions are hard to find. We decided to check out this old school appliance store before moving on to Best Buy or Costco. We wanted to talk to a knowledgeable salesperson before trying someone well versed in computers and TVs, but bored by household kitchen appliances. "Mike," was the right guy. He knew the skinny on kitchen tech, and was pleasant about educating us. Turned out the prices were identical to the other places, had real inventory and the ability to deliver, install and remove within days of purchase, rather than weeks. We opted for the Frigidaire Gallery model, which is basically still American made, and the right size to fit in our washroom next to our other appliances as our back up refrigerator, which the old one had become when we updated our kitchen 20 years ago. Mike took us through the process, had the piece in their warehouse, arranged for favorable financing (12 mo., no int.), with delivery in 2 days. True, there was a reasonable delivery charge, and cost for removing our old dinosaur, but they use their own people to install, not independent contractors. Overall, worth a bit more for the time and convenience, and having someone to call if something goes wrong. We were so pleased by the professional, yet human interaction, that we decided to also purchase a new stove hood exhaust stronger than the one that came with the our stove. It was never able to pull enough cooked air out of the kitchen to vent outside. This may be a continuing saga as the new equipment is delivered, installed and used in life. Let's hope for the best.

I knew we wanted to start our search here. We walked in and browsed a bit, and then Melanie helped explain all the differences between all their models, and let us know which ones were currently in stock. She was so patient and thorough with her explanations of what features we needed or what size model we would need. I always thought that salespeople want to make the biggest $$$ sale, but Melanie tried to help us find the best value for our money. In the end, we didn't purchase a washer or dryer yet because we needed more time to decide which brand we should go with. I'm so happy that we walked away with a wealth of information and feel better equipped to make our choice. Hopefully we will be back to purchase soon, and I'll update my review then.
