Smart Ink is on the second floor of a strip mall, and it could be hard to find if you are not looking for it. It is also a bit confusing since it's on the second floor, but the stairs are connected to the cemented wall underneath the second-floor dentist sign. The first thing I noticed when walking into the tattoo studio was how clean and bright it was. Everything is sanitary, and no matter which tattoo artist you see, everyone is nice and will greet you when they see you. There is also a nice artsy vibe to the studio; the walls are filled with handmade art, and every artist's tattoo area has its own personality and aesthetic shining through. I love that everyone can create their own creative area because it makes the studio feel much more inviting. Sometimes, tattoo studios feel very cookie-cutter and edgy, but this place is different in a good way. My husband and I both got tattoos from Jackie, and she did an amazing job. She met with us on the front couches to make sure her final sketches worked with us. I wanted to change a part of mine, and she made the changes on her iPad in front of me before printing it out. Then, she wanted to make sure the placement and size worked with me before we started. Yes, these are basic tattoo artist jobs, but you'd be surprised how many tattoo artists skip steps. I got my tattoos before my husband did, but she took her time on both of us. She was extremely professional and made the experience enjoyable by being personable and talkative. The tattoos look AMAZING and are exactly what we wanted. We gave her some artistic freedom with colors and/or designs, and she did not make us regret it. We will 100% be back at this tattoo studio, and we will be sticking with Jackie for all of our tattoo needs and wants =)

It's crazy, but as wonderful as it may be, Connor MacLeod was right when he said, " In the end there can be only one!" And that one shall be Vintage Voodoo Tattoo of Villa Park. They opened up circa 2019 located in the lower business level of shops directly beneath Josephine's. Upon entering the establishment you might feel as if you just entered the Twighlight Zone lol Vintage VooDoo is a treasure cove of antiques, magic and nostalgia that'll remind you of your childhood. From Ouija boards to shrunken heads, VVT is far beyond your average boring parlor. It's more of an experience. They have a magnificent roster of experienced talented artists and piercers who take pride in their craft. As far the shop rates go, just like anywhere else the prices will vary. But I will say this, for the quality of work you'll find with these artists, the price will fit the piece. Your time and money will not go to waste. Overall, I highly recommend this parlor. From the colorful personalities to the unique atmosphere, Vintage Voodoo is an excellent shop to frequent if ink is your thing. The only thing I would suggest is to book an appointment in advance. They do take walk-ins but they also get very busy at times. So getting penciled in on their calendar only works to your advantage.

Her patience and knowledge made me feel so comfortable and reassured that I decided to book with her right away. When I arrived, everything was just as she described--clean, professional, and welcoming. The entire experience exceeded my expectations. Today was a special Day for my cousin bc she was turning 18 and getting her first tattoo. We…read moreinitially went to the one In Schaumburg, but they didn't have any bookings for the day. We were eventually planning to do piercings but she wanted a tattoo instead. She said " if I get one, you have to get one too " I didn't go into a tattoo parlor w/ a tat idea, but that's okay too Receptionist called for me from Schaumburg to see if there was any space at Franklin park and they recommended us Mike. I walked into Atmosphere Tattoo Gallery and we approached Mike and introduced us and also asked for a discount. He was so generous, so nice, and so sweet about doing our tattoos last minute. We were offered water as we walked in getting tattoos and we had people explain the process of consent forms and what not. I went first to get my tattoo and my friend Krissy did a intense drawing for a sunflower for me. I got it w/ Mike and he was so sweet, gentle, and patient with me. My personality accidentally came off too strong and he still was so nice to me, so I appreciate it so much. He showed me the placement for my tattoo and initially I wasn't okay with it, so we tried to do different placements until I was happy with the final product. Super patient with me! This type of kindness goes a long way with me! The previous tattoo parlors I've been too had been not as generous and kind as Mike and he was easily one of the funniest people I've met. Mike is such a good vibe and he cares about privacy and your health too. As long as he's making his customers happy, he's vibing and happy. He was really gentle with doing my tattoo and explained the process and disinfected everything. I really appreciate Mike doing my tattoo and initially I was anxious and excited, but he made me feel comfortable to the point where I was okay and didn't stress too much. Mike is an outstanding tattoo artist with excellent customer service with a ton of patience and super willing to work with people. I appreciate anyone with a good vibe and someone who can crack jokes while doing tattoos for me. There's a book with his amazing tattoos that he's done on previous clients and when I say he's really good, he's the best tattoo artist I've had thus far and I'm most definitely going back to get more tattoos and referring friends to him! As we checked out, he explained aftercare and told us to reach out to him on IG if we needed anything. He made sure we were happy, and safe along with concerning for our privacy needs. In addition, he gave us both an amazing price for our tattoos & also gifted us an aftercare tattoo care. I had easily one of the best experiences at this tattoo place & I can't wait for more tattoos in the near future. Definitely and highly recommend Mike if you're doing big tattoos too! I got some work done here, one new piece, and the line work cleaned up on my 19 year old tattoo…read more Andrew did my work and he was great. He's a very chill, very quiet guy. On the rework for my old tattoo, there was more pain than on the first one-- being scar tissue and what not. Andrew was dope and talked me through it, he came in clutch when I needed it! Thanks dude. The line work on my new piece is so pretty! He took his time setting up and following sanitation processes, which I loved. They use these dope bandages, similar to what they stick an IV on you with in the ER, I don't recall the proper name. Anyway, this guy's got a great hand and was super gentle, and super chill. I read reviews regarding bad customer service, and I mean, I didn't get that at all. One guy there, I didn't catch his name, was super extroverted and i would dare say bordered on social butterfly level, while everyone else seemed more introverted. You know what, that's okay, not everyone has to be extroverted. I enjoyed my experience a lot. And can't wait to go back. Thanks y'all!
