I was very skeptical and leery of placing my child in another center, considering all the horrible stories you hear about daycare centers and employees; but I wanted to get him somewhere close to home. I am glad I researched and trusted God, as well as the instincts of my 15 month old, who is very hard to please and doesn't take well to everybody. I am beyond pleased and happy with my decision to place him here. He comes home clean, as if I just put on his clothes for the day, I rarely see a spot on him and we have been here since the week of Thanksgiving. He is happy to come and waves bye to everyone when we are leaving. We come from a daycare where I was able to watch him daily throughout the day. It was a very technologically advanced daycare, where he learned baby sign and so many other wonderful things, so you can imagine my hesitance when I needed to cut my daily commute down. Add that on to substantial financial aid, and MPA really does give a lot of money to students, the vast majority, in fact, that don't go to Morgan Park Academy. I am the recipient of one of the scholarships, and went to public school my entire life previously. I come from a working class home, I have a job. On behalf of all the other parents, my mother apologizes for picking her child up from school. A long standing MPA tradition is called Service Day. The entire upper school picks a project, usually in Beverly, but there have been projects at the various Museums, and public schools a bit further away and spends a day working there. Past trips include Washington and Jane Smith Village, Clissold, local churches, Park Forest, a home for mentally disabled people, and the annual senior trip to clean up the Dan Ryan Woods. Funny, a favorite memory of MPA students and alums is being chased by our groundskeeper, Richie on his snowblower. He can be seen working at six AM the day directly after a snow. Morgan Park Academy is really not the neighborhood monster, in fact I've never heard Anyone speak of it like that, unless you're a senior suffering from acute senioritis that is. =D. My son has been scratched, bitten and hit over 7xs since he been there. My son has been bitten 3xs in one day by one specific child and no action was taken after that. I was given an action plan and instructed that they will be separated and supervised at all times well clearly i was lied too. I have watched videos of one of my child teachers literally shacking and rough houseing a child and i tld them god forbid i ever see that childs mother cuz noone should do a child like dat ( layla's mother i hope you see this). I was called today and informed that my child was scratched and wen i got there my son had 3 scratches on his face and neck and i was told i cant guarantee that your child will be supervised at all times. wTF how dare you.
