I found the whole experience to be disappointing and a waste of money. I checked the site briefly…read morebefore purchasing and was so excited at the prospect of learning from "team of photography professors, photo journalists, and professional photographers" that I couldn't wait to shell out $30 bucks to see what was behind the curtain in the Members Only area! Instead I bought access to a website that was only good for teaching me the real meaning of caveat emptor. In case you looking into it yourself and are wondering what wonders await you in the exclusive member's area: There are five "ebooks" : A 52 page e-book called "5 Tips for Digital Photography; Learn to Shoot Like a Pro" . Here is my Pro Tip: Google "tips to take pictures like a pro" A 15 page ebook called "How to Choose a Digital Camera". This "book" was written in 2011 and doesn't seem to have been updated. Try Googling "how to choose a digital camera" Three photography books (Evolution of Photography, Pictorial Photography in America 1920, & Pictorial Photography in America 1921) that are available at Project Gutenberg... They are free.. in the public domain. The "bonus" videos on photography can be viewed for free on YouTube. They all appear to be from the same account "Snapfactory". They are excellent. The content in the photshop videos and "5 essential tips for better photography" videos that appear to be created for the site may be ok. I don't know because they are low res and hard to watch even at size they are embedded at, and almost impossible at full screen. There is also a lot of back ground "white" noise that makes it hard to hear. The forums are not, and have not been functional since I purchased my membership in November 2012. Sadly, you get what you pay for, and apparently a pile of poop is going for $30 bucks these days

Be warned - do NOT buy the "lifetime membership for $30" deal for this site. It's a half-baked…read morewebsite to begin with and half of the videos they pull from YouTube. Also, the photoshop videos they have are for CS5. Talk about outdated. And free eBooks? What a joke. This site and $30 they charged everyone is basically a ripoff. And the "Value of $189" is laughable. Do yourself a favor and just google around and you'll learn more for free than to waste $30 for this.

First, upon arrival, I noticed…read morehe had a double mask on - 2 surgical masks layered on top of each other, which he never took off. He had gloves on, and had just wiped the whole interior down with antibacterial cleanser. I felt completely comfortable in terms of covid. We met in Rock Creek Park. He was very friendly, calm, and thorough in his teaching techniques. His overall calmness kept me calm and gave me confidence, while learning such a new skill that ended with me on the road, in real traffic. I took the 4 hour full-course (best way to do it in my opinion). Tovo started with the basics, and didn't move on from one thing that I was learning until I was comfortable with it. We worked on starting out in first gear around the parking lot. Then we worked on second.... then a stop sign, and so on. After a couple of hours of learning, I was on the road, in real traffic. I thought I'd be panicky and scared, but Tovo kept his cool the whole time, which kept me calm and able to focus on what I was doing, and make logical decisions as we went. It was a great experience, and I am now completely able to drive on the road with a manual car. I highly recommend Stick Shift Driving Academy, and I highly recommend Tovo!

Excellent driving instructors. Took my roads test and passed the first time!…read more Seriously, Mr. Ish and Mr. Teddy are very patient and definitely want you to pass. I had wanted to book extra hours behind the wheel before I scheduled my roads test, but Mr. Ish really pushed me to take it sooner because he felt I was ready. Very glad he did.

I just passed my DC driving test, and its all thanks to the wonderful instruction from this school!…read moreI would recommend them highly to anyone, especially folks like me who are learning as adults. Before my lessons with Mr. Ish, the only driving experience I had as a 36 year old was some parking lot practice, and a one hour lesson with a different school (which I didn't think was very helpful so I didn't continue). I took 5 lessons of 2 hours each (10 hours total) with him and found him to be an incredibly patient and supportive instructor. I had a lot of anxiety going into the whole process, and his calm presence always put me at ease and made me more confident. When I would make a mistake like making too wide of a turn into a streeet, he would point it out but also ask me why I did it that way. It felt like he really wanted to get to the root of the issue to help fix it. In the case of turning too wide, we realized that I was misjudging the distance of my car from the parked cars on the street. This thoughtful approach really helped diagnose and correct issues as they came up and it was so satisfying to visibly see myself improve. His approach to teaching parallel parking was super clear, and I was able to confidently parallel park during the test, and have now also done it in relatively tight spots on DC streets! He also recommended doing a last lesson right before the test in the Deanwood neighborhood (where the DMV test takes place). This was great advice, and Mr. Teddy accommodated me for a pre-test lesson on short notice. I used the school's car for the test, which was helpful since I was familiar with it. The day of the test there was a really long wait at the DMV and Mr. Teddy waited with me patiently and was also really supportive. All the communication and reminders from the school about lesson times, locations were timely and clear, Mr. Ish was always on time for picking me up, and it was just a seamless experience end to end.
