My only hesitation to writing this review is that I don't want this little gem to get so popular that I can't book an appointment! Stop wasting your time and well earned $$ at other nail salons. Shek is definitely the best in SLC when it comes to quality and value!! I'm just bummed it took me 3 years and countless mediocre, overpriced manicures to find Shek. I have Kennedy work her magic on my nails, but I've seen Aja's work as well and they are both amazing. They truely take pride in their profession and it shows. Kennedy always makes sure I walk out of their cute studio loving my new nais, and never complains when I'm overly picky/critical or even change my mind halfway through my mani. Their basic manicures are perfection, but they also do some stellar nail art. I finally found a place that will do glitter and foil to my liking! My manicures last forever - they grow out before they will ever chip. And in the strange case they do get messed up, I can just give them a ring and come in for a free touch up. They truely know the definition of great customer service. As I mentioned in my opening sentence, the icing on the cake is their prices. Extremely affordable for $30 gel/shellac manicure, and only $5 for art or glitter/foil. I've paid that much at other salons in town for a regular polish mani that will chip in 5 days. In case you couldn't tell, i'm obsessed with Shek and I'm never looking back. read more

I know many current and former tenants of Image Studios all over the state of Utah, a franchise studio salon concept founded/owned by Jason and Shawn Olsen. I must say it started out as a great idea to empower individual stylists, but when it turned into a franchise it allowed franchise owners in wedge themselves into the value chain and cause the tenants to be trapped in the very cycle this company was founded to prevent. Exploitation. Rents are high. Service is very poor for tenants of April Benicosa's franchises. Think slum lord. It's sad to watch. My stylist just left the SLC location and I've had to hear about the drama for quite some time now. If you're looking for a studio salon, go somewhere else. Liv Studios is amazing and their ownership is truly interested in the success of his tenants, not wringing them for every penny he can because he has to pay an up line of profit takers or corporate masters. I have first-hand witnessed terrible ownership and management practice of at least 2 of April's locations and they seem to be the worst. Filthy bathrooms. Smells I cannot even describe. Poor ventilation in a pandemic. You name it. It's like watching a slow motion car crash. Hard pass here, folks. read more

Her many talents include acrylic, shellac, 3D Art, free hand designs, and not to mention she gives the best pedicures. It's all about Jessica B.! I've been to a number of places here in Salt Lake City and none have compared to her level of expertise. She is a true artist. For $30, I received a French style shellac/gel polish manicure that was simply out of this world in terms of precision and beauty - when everywhere else was charging $50 with all the up charging. She was using pretty advanced techniques I haven't seen before, even in Beverly Hills. There were absolutely no up charges, just the stated price and great work followed. I was bummed I couldn't get Kennedy when is initially called, but now I'm glad. I'm not letting anyone else do my nails from now on when I'm in Utah. Yes, she's that good and the prices are right. I heard about Kennedy through word of mouth a couple of years ago. She does such a wonderful job! I always get a shellac manicure and the quality is fantastic. I have had the manicure last for up to three and a half weeks without chipping. The only reason I removed the polish is because by that point, my nails had grown out so much at the nail bed.
